im creating site with usercontrols. I have repeater, inside it is another repeater with usercontrol. My problem is passing BindedValue to usercontrol.Bindings works fine and binds the value i need but it cannot pass the value to usercontrol. When i type it manually it works, when i bind it, it passes null (!).I've tried get,set, functions (ondatabound, onload, oninit), accessing control from code with no luck. Ive read and tried to do all the google solutions but with no luck. (even with creating usercontrol inheritance)

I am going to have multiple "types" of an object and I am really not sure how best to retrieve/save those multiple types without having a separate save/retrieve for each type.
My classes:
[Code]....
I hope this makes sense. I'd rather not add a "type" column as I have this in another part of my database and I am not really liking it too much
UPDATE
Here's more info/questions for clarification, if necessary.
I'm really at a loss for how to incorporate them into my repository pattern.
When I call getEvaluation, I want it to return an abstract Evaluation, but I'm struggling with this code. Same with Saving - any insight on this would be excellent
UPDATE 2
Database:
Evaluations
Id (PK)
Comment
EvaluationType1
Id (FK to Evaluations.Id)
Field
EvaluationType1
Id (FK to Evaluations.Id)
Field
So, in getEvaluation(int id), I need to figure out what type of Evaluation they want. Does this mean I should pass in a type? Same is true in saveEvaluation, But I can do a switch/function map to see what Type it is.

I have a profile object in session with profile information for the currently logged in user. I wand to be able to inject it into my business classes so I can do validation etc in them without having to pass it in the parameter list in every method.
I have tried something like this in my ninject module:
Profile profile = HttpContext.Current.Session["Profile"] as Profile;
Bind<Profile>().ToConstant(profile).InTransientScope();
However it blows up with null reference when I do Kernel.Get() in my aspx. The BusinessObject takes a profile via the constructor. If I hard code the profile instead of using the HttpContext then everything seems to work. Not sure if ToConstant is the way to go, I am really looking for something that will get evaluated every time a new BusinessObject is created.
UPDATE
It seems that asking for injection to happen on a page level object inline is too soon for the session collection to be available. If I move in the Kernel.Get call to Page_Load it works just fine.

I have a property on my Global.asax.cs class that I need to access from a business class, i.e. using HttpContext.Current. How do I do this? Global.asax.cs (in a web project)
public partial class Global : System.Web.HttpApplication
{
public static ProxyGenerator Generator = new ProxyGenerator();
Business class (in a separate business project)
var generator = ((Sei.Osp.Web.Global)HttpContext.Current.ApplicationInstance)
This obviously doesn't work and I don't want to reference the whole web project in the business project as it will create a circular reference (the business project is already referenced in the web project)
UPDATE:
To clarify - the property I'm creating holds an instance of the Castle Dynamic Proxy Generator class. I've read that you shouldn't just create this all over the place. So I thought I'd create it in my Global.asax.cs and then just use that instance wherever I need to create a proxy class (I'm using it to do AOP) Is there a better way of doing this?

This not an 'MVC' question per se, but this is the closest forum I could find. I am building web/wpf/silverlight front end on the MVP pattern. I am using EDMX and a 'business logic' class to form the model, a presenter project, and a view project.The IViews contain the basic structure of each entity, the presenter contains actions, etc.Sample view:
[Code]....
Sample presenter:
[Code]....
QUESTIONS:I seem to end up with a 1-1 mapping of views and presenters. SHould there be more than one view per presenter, or more than one presenter per view? Should the presenter for an entity (in this case a User) also contain methods for functional items such as searching for a filtered list of Users using overloaded methods, etc.?Should the IViewXYZ interface contain any events or actions (methods)?

In our application we have to access session objects in business class. We are using HttpContext.Current.Session to get the session value. In some cases it returns the value but mostly its throwing a null reference exception(Object reference not set to an instance of an object). We have the following code Try
If HttpContext.Current.Session("Username") IsNot Nothing then
' Statements to be executed
End If
Catch ex As Exception
'Log to db
End Try
Here HttpContext.Current.Session("Username") is mostly throwing an exception "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" While debugging we found that HttpContext.Current itself is nothing.

I have a problem. (this a simplfied example)
In Entity framework I have a class which is effectively
fooEntity
{
public Guid Id {get; set;}
and a collection of fooChildEntity
}
a fooChildEntity is again an entityframework class
fooChildEntity
{
public Guid kidId {get; set;}
}
Now I also have a pair of business layer classes foo and fooChild
foo
{
public Guid Id {get; set;}
ilist<fooChild> Children {get;set;}
}
fooChild
{
public Guid kidId {get; set;}
}
My aim is to write a linq to entites that will allow me to convert the entity foo and children into the business foo and children without breaking deferred execution ( I will be adding filters to reduce the recordset at a higher coding level in the business layer)
doing something like
this.context.fooEntity
.include(fooChildEntity)
.Select( fe => new foo { Id=fe.Id ,
fe.foreach(fec => Children.add( new fooChild { kidId = fec.kidId}))})
.AsIQueryable()
is plainly rubbish and would never compile - it is however an indication of the direction I was thinking .
Even if I got a foreach to work like that or similar it would break deferred execution
At this point there are around 300,000 foo entities which I will eventualy filter to 5 or 6 foo's - this is why deferred execution is needed.

How to pass a class into another class to a codebehind?
When I debug and check the myCategoryObj in the Default.aspx page, I can see the object is in the debug. What am I doing wrong?
I know I could create the object in the Default.aspx but I should not have to I should be able to call the Business Logic Layer and ask for an object back and then fill the object and pass it back to the Business Logic Layer to be saved (insert or update).

'm constructing a url which in itself has a url, and both are parameterised.E.g. string postUrl = "target_page.aspx?url=post_page.aspx?p1=9&p1=9&post_type=1he url and parameters in bold are the inner url so when i refer to querystring parameter 'url' I want it to bring backurl=post_page.aspx?p1=9&p1=9 and not url=post_page.aspx.hat should I encode and to ensure this comes out correctly

I am using this plugin [URL] I am using this code:
var uploader = new qq.FileUploader({
// pass the dom node (ex. $(selector)[0] for jQuery users)
element: document.getElementById('file-uploader'),
// path to server-side upload script
action: '/server/upload',
params: {item1:$('#txtName').val() }
});
Now when the request is made to server always the blank value goes to server instead of what the actual value is (I changed the value of textbox after the page has been loaded). I think the first default value of textbox is passed in this case. My question how can I pass the dynamic value of textbox to server?

I've just noticed I'm repeating a lot of C# code in my ASP.NET application so want to create a generic method. I have a series of private methods like this:
[Code]....
So, I want to replace DB.MyRepeatedCall, chtMyRepeatedChart and pass them in as parameters to a generic function. Is that possible? I have many charts on my form that take the same number of parameters.
UPDATE
Following Frederik's solution I have done this:
[Code]....
I am calling the function with this command:
PopulateControl (chtEquityCurve, DB.GetAccountBalances());
I get this error in the intellisense:
No overload for method 'GetAccountBalances' takes 0 arguments.

I took the MVC 2 template that comes with VS2010 and modified it to my needs.
There are now 5 different tabs in the menu, I've implemented models and controllers and that works.
But actually, the entire site should show data based on and ID (it pulls data from a webservice).
For example account info for id=1: http://localhost:49925/AccountInfo/details/1
This is always the URL where one enters the site (page will be linked to from another site, so the ID will be passed from there) So how can I pass the ID to the other Views (let's say I also have a 'Contact' tab: http://localhost:49925/ContactInfo/details/1 ) I've solved it now by storing the ID as public property, so I can retrieve it in other Controller classes, but I think there must be a better way to do this..
Also I would like to have a title in the header of the master page that shows the current account (e.g. "Showing data for account FooBar"), how can I set this from the AccountInfo controller/model(?)
