In the database one number like a 91-9685748596 and, 2nd number like 9122-9685748596 and another one is 9685748596 .when we are try to formate it using substring function it all are may be9685748596,9685748596,9685748596.Mobile number is assigned as a primary key.so its showing error "Primary key violation".We can not the remove primary key also and there are 50 lack data in our database.

Problem: In my scenerio i had dataset with a table (in code->ds.Tables[1]) in rowstate added. I wanted update on database with this table so i changed insert command of adapter to update command of command builder, but no update got performed. When debugged in sql profiler i found that update command generated by builder is checking all columns in where clause and with parameter value of data table instead of from database column value.

The problem I identified is parameter values inside where clause are from data table which is obvious that update condition will not be met. Is there some way to restrict where clause to primary key only in Command Builder?Or why is command builder taking where clause parameter values from datatable instead of command (query)?

Have an SQL database. Need to pass the next id for the identity column.
My db doesn't use identity seeding so it doesn't auto increment the next id as you normally would.
What I'd like to do is simply use linq to get the last id then add 1 type thing.
then pass it to my model. If I set the db to increment the insert works as expected. When I try to manually pass the id (disable the auto-increment obviously in the column) it fails.

In my application, users fill out a form to submit a "Job Request" - once they submit the form it is stored as a new row in a table in the Sql database. Each "Job Request" that is submitted is given a "JobID" which is a number and also the primary key of the new row in the database (the number is generated by the database). Once the users hit the "submit" button, I'd like to return the value of the "JobID" (the primary key) so that the user can know what it is. How would I achieve this? In the future, I will have to expand the application so that the users would be able to edit an older "Job Request" and get a similar JobID number (so if before it was 1234, the new one would be 1234-1 or something like that), so this is not simply a matter of searching for the highest number in the primary key field in the table and returning that. I'm using Sql for my database and writing in VB.

I have a blog engine running on MVC 3 on a Godaddy shared hosting account (IIS7/.NET 4). I've implemented a MetaWeblog interface to it so that I can use Windows Live Writer 2011 to post. Everything is generally working. My problem seems to be with Medium Trust and the XMLRPC gateway that MetaWeblog uses. I get a FileIOPermission error when attempting to write media objects to disk. The key error is:
Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.
I'm sure it's the Medium Trust level that's causing this error because when I set my local IIS7 to medium trust level I get the same issue. Upgrading to high or greater trust level solves the problem. However, I can not change the trust level on a Godaddy shared hosting account (I don't want to pay for a dedicated server for a personal project so upgrading is not financially feasible).
Here's the "funny" thing. In the same application I have a file upload page that works perfectly on dev and production. I'm going to the same sub-directory in both places (well under the application directory root and with write permissions granted). Therefore, it seems the only difference here is the fact that one part of the code executes under MVC and another as part of XMLRPC (not sure what framework that is part of as I'm kind of new to ASP.NET development).

I want to issue an INSERT command for an SQL Server table using DataAdapter without first issuing a SELECT command. Could anybody send me lines of code to handle this? Also how do i manage INSERT into selective table columns (I have 10 columns but i only want to update 2 of them)?
View 2 RepliesI am working with odbcCommand class, in one case I got error that QueryTimeout Expired. Even though this SP is taking only 3-4 secs in DB to execute these specific values, When I set the CommandTimeout=0, then it worked fine.
1)Is it necessary to always use this property while working with Command Class.
2)If it is not suggested to use, but still if I use it then how it will impact the performance.
