I have an old COM+ object that we've used to create AD user accounts with information from our HR system. This process has been broken since a recent upgrade, so I'm attempting to modify the object to point to a new DC and a new inforamtion store during mailbox creation. After modifying the code I am unable to get an account to be crated and the following error appears:error '8007202f' Automation error A constraint violation occurredI am not a developer and I know that this is a long shot but if anyone has any insight into if this is an AD issue or one with VB 6, any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I think this is the relevent code but again, I'm an admin not a developer:
thenewuser.SetInfo
thenewuser.SetPassword "NewBie!!!"
thenewuser.AccountDisabled = False

Is it possible to allow repeated nulls on a column with a unique constraint? This column will won't always be populated with data upon insert, a condition must be met before the value is update. Once updated, it needs to be unique. Do I need to assign a temporary, random value or

Using vb.net/asp.net 2005 and SQL Server 2005:I have a unique constraint setup to prevent users from entering duplicate email addresses in my online system.When a user tries to edit an existing email to one that already exists (add a duplicate) it shows the following<ERROR>Cannot insert duplicate key row in ojbect "dbo.someTableName" with unique index.....The statement has been terminated This prevents the user from adding duplicates which is good but I would like to provide a more user friendly exception message and I do not want to show the table and field names to the user.

I want to create a constraint for 3 columns (A B and C) where if columns B or C are not null, then A cannot be null. And vice versa (i.e., if A is not null, then either B cannot be null, or C cannot be null).I am not very well versed in SQL and would like to know what is the best way to achieve this (e.,g Check constraint, stored procedure, function, trigger)? I'm leaning towards trigger but I'm not 100% sure if that's right nor of how to implement it.

let say i have 2 table (PARENT and STUDENT table)
the structure for both table are
STUDENT
PARENT
student_id (PK) parent_id (PK)
student_parent (FK) parent_status (the value is either ACTIVE OR INACTIVE)
- parent_id is refer by STUDENT table as a foreign key
- now i want to inactive the status for parent
- i want my system pop out a message something like "The parent you want to inactive is refer by a student, inactive is not allow"
- is it any constraint in SQL Server 2005 to help me check whether parent it is refer by student table? The concept i want to use is something like delete constraint in SQL Server 2005 mean it is not allow to delete a person who is refer by a student in STUDENT table.

The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "FK_EquipmentStatus_MeetEquip". The conflict occurred in database "D:MEETINGROOMAPAPP_DATADATABASE.MDF", table "dbo.EquipmentStatus", column 'Fk_MeetEquip'.
I'm getting this error when i'm trying to delete a listboxitem. It's true that an other table (EquipmentStatus) is using the primary key attached to the listboxitem, but how can i delete all the rows that causes this problem? I've seen an example using stored procedure, but i dont understand it, since i haven't really worked with it before:
ALTER TABLE t2
DROP CONSTRAINT FK_t1id
ALTER TABLE t2
ADD CONSTRAINT FK_t1id FOREIGN KEY (t1id) REFERENCES t1 (t1id) ON DELETE
CASCADE
My listbox is using MeetEquip table which p-key is MeetEquip.ID, and the fk-key (which generates the problem) is fk_MeetEquip from EquipmentStatus table.

For my Dynamic Data site I have a table that has a join to a number of other tables. If I use the standard page for this table I get all of my columns from the primary table and related tables (which is good) and the appropriate literal values from the related table (which is great). The bad part is the order of the columns.
To address the order of the columns I created Custom Folder/Page for the table. I also have a partial class that controls date formatting. This takes care of the ordering of columns fine (which is a step forwared), but now I'm seeing the foreign key IDs instead of the literal values from related tables (which is a step backward).
All I did was copy the standard page to the Custom folder for the table, turn off AutoGenerateColumns, and specify the column order and display name. Why would the foreign key change occur? As a side note, if addressing column order in the partial class is the preferred method I could go that route, but I haven't been able to understand how to do that in VB (I've seen many examples in C#, but that's not my strong point).

I am returning a dataset from a method and trying to set one of the columns as Primary Key.
CategoryList.Tables[0].PrimaryKey = new DataColumn[] { CategoryList.Tables[0].Columns["CategoryNodeId"] };
Interestingly it gives me this error at run-time, These columns don't currently have unique values.
Now I perfectly know why this error should error, but there are no duplicate keys in this data column. I broke the code in between and bound the dataset to gridview to check if this column contains any duplicates and this is not the case. Here is the result set underneath. Have a look at the first column 'CategoryNodeId'.
CategoryNodeId
CategoryId
Name
ParentCategoryNodeId [code]...
unable to find a work around for now.
