AJAX :: Ajax Tab Control In Vs 2008 - Lazy Loading Of Data?
May 7, 2010
I'm planning to fetch data to illustrate about the yearly sales achievement for last 3 years by showing seperately in grids in three different ajax tabs. i prefer to lazy loading of the data to the grid in each tab. is there a way to achieve this on the change event of the tabs.

At present we are using <ajax:TabContainer> to load tabs. I have 5 user controls inside <ajax:TabPanel>.
The problem is that all the data on these 5 pages gets loaded at once and increases the loading time as well as it is very hard to debug. Can we do lazy loading uisng TabContainer control? so that only the data of the current tab is loaded and when we click on the other tab then that's control data gets loaded.

At present I am using ajax:TabContainer for the tabs. As you know that does not do Lazy loading. Can sonone give me links to or some code examples to do Tabs with Lazy loading. I know that the Jquery tabs do lazy loading but there are no complete examples on the web which tells you on how to do lazy loading with JQuery tabs.

I have a requirement like need to display 5000+ records in gridview. So, I created scrollable div with gridview init and displaying 200 records per page. The website is running very slow because eveytime when user click on paging, it retrieving all the records from the database. I need to increase the website performance. I heard about a concept Girdview lazy loading but i don't know how to implement. I am looking for a solution like records should display in gridview when ever user scroll the bar down. How to do the gridview lazy loading.

I am developing a website that has more and more LINQ queries. I have been keeping down the download size, optimizing the images, js, css and using HTTP Compression. I notice however, that now that I am using more LINQ queries and more complex queries, join and group joining queries, the 'waiting' time that the browser is doing is going up. The KB size of the page isn't any greater, but the page ultimately takes longer to load.
I have been reading up on LINQ and the behind the scenes of how it works. I have found that I need to use DataLoadOptions for the queries that join/group join to reduce the round trips to the database. I haven't had a chance to work on this yet, so if anyone has any great resources on this or tips, I'd appreciate it.
My main question about LINQ to SQL in this post is, if I have a bunch of queries throughout my site, in the masterpage, and the page itself, if I do not put .ToArray() at the end of the query, does that speed it up? If I leave ToArray() off of all the queries, do they then execute all at once when the page is loading instead of each time the page gets to that specific line to read and execute it?
I may be asking a dumb question, since I don't know a whole lot about the behind the scenes of LINQ yet, or the compiling of the page. I am using VWD 2010, so it does not have the SQL Profiler for me to test what I am asking.

need to sanity check what I think is correct. If I have some LINQ entity relationships that I create in code thus:-
[Code]....
these would lazy load, by default - correct? And if the first link was changed to
[Code]....
this would also lazy load and defer loading until GetObjectLink() was called, yes?

I want to build a business object such as an employee class, but I know that 80% of the properties will barely get used. So I wanted to know how I can create the object with the important properties in the constructor and lazy load the ones that are barley used when they are needed (if at all).
I am using asp.net with c#.

I've got this problem.I launched an ASP.NET website with the Umbraco CMS on an ISP.(Its just a very basic informative site. nothing special.)When I go want to visit the website however, the first pageload takes a lot of time, sometimes even up to 20 seconds. Of course this is ridiculous. Afterwards, I am able to navigate the site relatively quick.. So every first pageload is slow, then everything is OK, more or less.Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be? Would it be IIS? ASP.NET?

I know there is another question asking the same thing, but it hasn't gotten any attention for months now:
How to force Ajax Control Toolkit scripts loading from CDN?
I've upgraded my website to .NET4, and I'm now using the scriptManager's EnableCDN="true" tag. My Ajax scripts are being referenced from the Microsoft CDN just how I expected, but I can't seem to get my AjaxControlToolkit scripts to load from the CDN. Instead they all load locally through ScriptResource.axd.
I know where the CDN files are located, and I know that I could reference those files every time I use a control, but I've got a lot of legacy code that loads on its own from the scriptmanager, just pulling ScriptResource.axd files.
how to get the control toolkit scripts to load from the CDN? I already have the standard WebForms.js, etc.
Let me know if there is anything I can clear up, here is the script manager that I'm using: (I have tried the toolkitscriptmanager)
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnablePageMethods="true"
EnableCdn="true" EnableScriptLocalization="false"
LoadScriptsBeforeUI="false" EnableViewState="false" />

I have hooked up a textbox to an autocomplete extender control and it seems to work fine with me restricting what is displayed as the user types via a web method in the code behind. I am using the CreateAutoCompleteItem key value pairs method. I have also created an OnClientItemSelected event which can update the value of a hidden field. The problem I have is when the user might want to retrieve a record and I want the textbox to display the correct value when the page loads. If possible making my textbox have key value pairs, etc.

I am using a master page which has a table that is used for layout. In one of the cells I have a Accordion control which holds links in each panel to navigate to the various pages. I have a few pages that take some time to load so I was trying to use the update panel progress control, however it seems that you cannot use a hyperlink or a link button as triggers for the update panel or if you can you cannot if it is in an accordion control.
So I am seeking advice on how to show a loading message when the pages load in the content panes.

Situation: I have a drop down list which I need to pass on to a webservice on button click. I am using Sys.Net.WebServiceProxy.Invoke to make webservice call.
Everything is happening inside a usercontrol which loads on runtime using dynamicpopulate extender.
I get following error:
Sys.InvalidOperationException: Cannot serialize object with cyclic reference within child properties.
Situation: Usercontrol also has a listview which is bound to dataset. However on calling listview.DataBind() in side the webservice method.
I get following error:
The ListView control 'ProductsListView' does not have a naming container. Ensure that the control is added to the page before calling DataBind.
There is no problem when call to service method is parameter less and listitem is not bound.

Wasn't quite sure where to post this, seems like the issues could be any number of things, so I'm trying to keep it general... mods, feel free to relocate appropriately.
I am trying to build a page which will load various web user controls dynamically in response to menu selections made by the user, and then allow other interactions inside those controls (such as gridview manipulation and updates). The content page simply has a loginview, an ASP:Menu control, and an ASP:Placeholder. The placeholder is filled by the appropriate user control in response to the menu selection. Selecting a menu item causes a postback and the correct control is loaded as expected.
I realized that using dynamic loading with interactive controls would be a problem with respect to postbacks, so I added a ScriptManager to the content page and enclosed the gridview controls in the web user controls within UpdatePanels, thinking that all postbacks required by the GridView would be handled inside the UpdatePanel and not cause the parent page to refresh (which would then wipe out the dynamically loaded control). However, it does not seem to work this way. Instead, although the control containing the GridView loads correctly and displays data, when I attempt to page, edit, or select any item on the GridView, nothing happens on the first click. If I click on any item inside the control a second time, the entire page refreshes and the control and its contents disappear.
I have removed all the code inside the web user control and placed it directly into the content page to test, and everything functions correctly in that case. I think therefore that I must be missing something with how the user control is working, particularly with respect to the UpdatePanel. Is it just not possible to use an UpdatePanel to confine actions inside a user control that would otherwise cause the entire page to postback, or am I missing something somewhere?
Psuedo-code for the issue below

I have update panel on the page to avoid postback and placed a dropdownlist control within that update panel. DrodownList is filled with Category names and also it's autopostback set to True.
Now whenever dropdownlist index change's on select, untill page loads complete data it should show mesage as "Loading.... in center and middle of the page and background should become bit transparent". And when page load completely with data then that background and message should get disappear.

I have a page that has a cascading drop down. It works perfectly when I start with an empty page and populate data to save a new row in a db table. However, when I try to load an existing row to the page, the parent is populated, but the child and cdd are not populated. During the load, I set the ccd.selectedvalue to a valid value, but by the time the page is rendered, there is no selection. I am sure it is something simple, but just don't see it.

If I can't, I want to ask you if it's possible to link a RegularExpressionValidator to the textbox in the row.
