AJAX :: Concurrent XmlHttpRequest / Send Data From Server To Client?

Nov 24, 2010

the idea id I need to send data to the client to the server to inform the server of some events at the client, and i need to send data from server to the client to inform the client of some results on the server. now from client to server is easy I use xhr easy enough. and to send data from server to client I thought of using long polling in xhr so to test I wrote the following code:

<!-- Test.aspx -->

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Test.aspx.cs" Inherits="Test" %>

XMLHttpRequest - Send JSON From Mozilla Addon To Page

Apr 16, 2010

I am trying to send JSON from my mozilla addon to my asp.net page.

var myJSONObject = {"userName": una,"password": pass};
request = new XMLHttpRequest();
request.open("GET","http://www.google.com?jo=" + myJSONObject,true, null, null);

on my .net page I have tried several ways of doing it but not able to find the best way to serialize and deserialize the code. All I need is to send the json data back n forth and parse it on C# n javascript.

I have tried DataContractJsonSerializer, JavaScriptSerilizer among many other things. But not able to make any of it work. With the JavaScriptSerilizer, It does deserilize it if it takes an argument from the browser for e.g. If I open up the browser and paste something like [URL]} it does deserilize and return me individual values, but it does work when I do an XMLHTTPRequest (as above) from my mozilla addon.

How To Run JavaScript On Server And Send DOM Results To Client

Nov 10, 2010

I've been stuck on this one for a while, so it's time to consult the pros. I've created a charting application that uses javascript to do heavy DOM manipulation/generation on the client (creating barcharts made of colored divs, etc).

Long story short, I want to avoid sending my js library to the client. Is there any way to create the content on the server, using my existing javascript library, and only send the javascript-generated HTML to the client?

Javascript - Want To Send Files From Client's Browser To Server?

Dec 24, 2010

I'm looking for possible ways for sending files from browser to server.
One obvious way is using form with enctype='multipart/form-data'.
I wonder if there are other ways than this.

The reason I ask you this question is this file uploader: http://aspnetajax.componentart.com/control-specific/upload/features/core_features/WebForm1.aspx

It's not flash based, but it sends the file in a way that it gives you a progress bar, but when you send a file with form with enctype='multipart/form-data' the whole file will be send to the server so you can't actually show a progress bar of uploading process.

Web Forms :: Send A Updated Page From Server To Client?

Feb 26, 2010

The user clicks on a button on a page and as a result he gets a new page send back.

Most times everything is fine now, but sometimes this page needs to be updated within a few seconds but the user don't knows this.

I know I can poll from the client site with reload, but this does not fit here.

I need a kind of push update from server to client ... the action must be initiated from server, not from client ...

C# - Can Retrieve Data From Server To Client During An Asynchronous Post - Back Using Ajax Library

Apr 9, 2010

ASP.NET Ajax Library provides some client-side events. For instance:

function(args) {
// handle the end of any asynchronous post-back. Every-time there's
// a server round-trip, this method will be called.

During the asynchronous post-back I want to retrieve information to the client. This information must be available in some event like the discribed above.

Does the UpdatePanel or the ScriptManager have any server-side way to retrieve data back to client during an asynchronous post-back?

Javascript - Jquery.ajax Set With Async=true To Send Data Back To Server Not Working If Page Redirects/reloads.

Sep 3, 2010

I'm trying to save some content whenever a button/hyperlink is clicked using jquery.ajax (Using Asp.net 3.5). The logic is as follows:

Through .bind in jquery I bind my own method(MakeLog) to a button click or hyperlink click. The click events of button/hyperlink contain nothing, I need to use .bind for selective controls.Now we have a button whose click event will fire a method, say MakeLog.Code snippet for MakeLog is as follows:

var xhr = jQuery.ajax({
url: "/Logger.aspx",
data: { content: logContent }, [code]....

This works fine in IE but in Firefox this is not sending the data back as expected.I tried to identify the issue and came across the following: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3522944/jquery-ajax-calls-async-false-vs-async-true .What I understand is that, whenver page is redirecting/reloading due to button click or hyperlink click the async call is not working properly.

MVC :: To Use AsyncController To Allow User Concurrent Ajax Requests?

Jun 10, 2010

In my ASP.NET MVC2 web app I have a page which goes off and gets results from a number of different web service feeds. These return times vary so I want to basically display them as they return after the page loads. I also want my user to be able to kick of requests that can run concurrently with these other requests.

At the minute my page just seems to queue up the requests. The web service calls returning one at a time in the order they are called and then the user can kick of requests.

Is this a case for the asyncController or is there an easier/better way of working this?

How To Make A Concurrent AJAX WCF Web Service Request During An Async Postback

May 22, 2010

I want to provide status updates during a long-running task on an ASP.NET WebForms page with AJAX.Is there a way to get the ScriptManager to execute and process a script for a web service request concurrently with an async postback? I have a script on the page that makes a web service request. It runs on page load and periodically using setInterval(). It's running correctly before the async postback is initiated, but it stops running during the async postback, and doesn't run again until after the async postback completes.

C# - Connection Reset After Concurrent AJAX And Standard Form POST

Aug 24, 2010

Scenario:Own rolled jQuery Ajax post to validate an input field on unfocus Standard submit button for post on form

If I cause validation to fire and wait until I see it complete in firebug then click save all is fine. If however I leave a change in a field and then click the submit button directly (so both ajax and standard post happen at almost the same time) the request hangs in the browser before returning a 'connection reset'. If running in VS debug I see nothing unless I hit pause. I am then presented with the following callstack:

System.Web.dll!System.Web.Hosting.IIS7WorkerRequest.ReadEntityCoreSync(byte[] buffer, int offset, int size) + 0x23 bytes
System.Web.dll!System.Web.Hosting.IIS7WorkerRequest.ReadEntityBody(byte[] buffer, int size) + 0x18 bytes
System.Web.dll!System.Web.HttpRequest.GetEntireRawContent() + 0x2d4 bytes
System.Web.dll!System.Web.HttpRequest.GetMultipartContent() + 0x45 bytes
System.Web.dll!System.Web.HttpRequest.FillInFormCollection() + 0xad bytes
System.Web.dll!System.Web.HttpRequest.Form.get() + 0x45 bytes
System.Web.dll!System.Web.HttpRequest.HasForm.get() + 0x46 bytes
System.Web.dll!System.Web.UI.Page.GetCollectionBasedOnMethod(bool dontReturnNull) + 0x62 bytes

Background:ASP.NET 4 MVC 2 Web application with some legacy webforms pages (the page involved in both the ajax post and standard post is the same webforms page) running locally on Win7/IIS7.

I could potentially disable the submit button while the ajax validation fires. However even if I do that I'm intrigued to know what has caused this seemingly time based/concurrent request problem.

AJAX :: Server And Client Side Timeouts - Server Timeout Not Triggering?

Nov 22, 2010

We have an UpdatePanel that is showing a gridview with loads of data in it. We have loads of well written sprocs that don't take very long, BUT we have a few horrible ones that take ages.

We do intend to rewrite them but in the interim we have put the ADO.NET commandtimeout up to 180s. The scriptManager.AsyncPostBackTimeout is set to 240s. We want to handle this on the serverside. One of the reports still fails (it's got a couple of nested cursors in it - someone who hasn't had SQL lesson 101 from me!).

Half the time, the nice error timeout message is shown using server side handling of the command timeout. The problem is that the other half of the time the commandtimeout doesn't seem to fire.
