Guidelines For Multi User / Multi Session / Multi Tab Cookie Enviroment?

Jan 18, 2011

Our current application is working fine but when you try to misbehave like we found out that When login with same user in multiple tab with different organization(there is a organization dropdown in the master page which sets the cookie whenever it is changed.) in tab one it is org 1 and tab 2 it is org2 , cookie has the later org 2 in it but when we go back in tab1(which had org1) and save the record org 2 will be saved with the record So can some one share some sort of a checklist with us which address these types of problem.

MVC :: Handling Primary Key Field When Creating An Edit View (using Add View Dialog)?

Apr 7, 2010

When using the "add view" dialog in vwd is there a common practice for presenting any primary key fields as readonly to the user in the view?

By default it appears the user could change the key field value (as it is presented in a textbox) and overwrite data for that record for which the key was accidentally changed to.

Do we have to store the original record's key and then make the key presented as a label and then on the update subtitute the original key value back in for the record? Or is there something simpler?

To Build A Multi-View Search Form For A Travel Company?

Jan 26, 2011

I have a requirement to build a "Search" form for a travel company. This search form will be used for searching different travel components such as Flights, Hotels, Cars etc. Most of the fields in the form are common (such as travel dates, origin and destination cities etc) for all components but will also contain some component specific fields (such as Business/First/Economy Class & Nonstop Flight Indicators for Flight Search).Even though most of the fields are common, they need to be displayed with component-specific labels.for example:"travel dates" would say "check-in & check-out dates" on Hotel search form where as they would say "departure & return dates" on Flight search form. What is the best approach to design a search form which would display field with component-specific labels and also provides a way to map/associate fields to components (common fields to all component types and component-specific fields to corresponding component)? Is there something similar to Data Annotations for achieving this behavior?

Authentication - Multi-app And Multi-user Database

Oct 29, 2010

We have a simple ASP.NET app that uses the ASP.NET SqlMembershipProvider and all is great.

We want to create a second app on the same server, also use the SqlMembershipProvider, but a different "applicationName" so that the user accounts between the two apps are kept separate.

It looks like this would be possible by making the two different app domains (ie they each have their own web.config), but I'm hoping to just put them in different directories so I don't have 3 web.configs (one for each app, and the main one) that all have to be kept synchronized. So what I'm after is:

/web.config
/APP1 (uses membership provider in /web.config, with userlist A)
/APP2 (uses membership provider in /web.config, with userlist B)

It looks simple to define multiple membership providers that use a different 'applicationName' value.

But how do you tell the system.web.authentication node which membership provider to use?

Creating A Calender View Summary Report?

Jan 27, 2011

I want to display a calender view summary report, where on page load I can display all the dates in the current month and a particular count for date. On mouse hover over the date another grid summary should pop up showing more details in breakage. (Look for the attached image for more details.)

Is there any asp control to do the same? I Looked at some Calendar controls from asp, but they don't tend to meet my need.

(Or else I am planning to do a customized grid view of rows and columns and link them to dates of the month and display other details.)

Creating A View And Updating An Entity Model?

Mar 13, 2011

EDIT: This question is vague and will likely be of little use to anyone. I am awarding internet monies to the gentleman below whom "helped" me.Sorry that the title is a little vague. I am still new to asp mvc & EF. Here is my issue. I have a DB somewhat like this.

Employee
- ID
- Name
- Address
EmployeeJob
- EmployeeID
- JobID
- StartDate
JobTypes
- ID
- JobName

I want a create form that will show all the Employee fields as well as a list of JobTypes for the users to be able to select. Then I will post the results back to the controller and update the DB. I have started looking into custom viewmodels, but am still unsure of exactly how to put that together and get it to work.

Creating A Custom Tree View In ASPX

Feb 2, 2015

I've created a basic table in SQL,

ID, Foldername, ParentID, parentLevel
1, Domestic, 0,0
2, commercial, 0,0
3, Product, 1,1
4, product, 1,1
5, Item, 3,2
6, product, 2,1
7, item, 6,2

I've created a basic web page to that drills down level by level. that all works fine.

I want to manage this table now in an admin page, and was looking for some kind of tree view type code that will allow a user to expand a level and drill down to sub levels.

Code:
Private Sub LoadList()
Litlist.Text = ""
Litlist.Text += "<tr style='background:#808080; color:white; text-align:center'>"
Litlist.Text += "<td>ID</td>"
Litlist.Text += "<td>Name</td>"

[Code] ....

This kinda works but doesn't allow me to expand to create have a collapsible tree view or show/hide TR's. How to do this using a simple table like I have for multiple levels.

AJAX :: Calendar Extender Multi Language In Ajaxcontroltoolkit?

Apr 6, 2010

I am on .net 2.0 and using the Ajax calendar on ajaxcontroltoolkit version 1.0.10920.32880 and am using the multi-language capability built in. There is one issue. The word "Today" doesn't get translated. I have tried an older version of ajaxcontroltoolkit and the word "Today" does get translated. In the1.0.10920.32880 there is the ability to set the popup position of the calendar control and in the older version where the "Today" translation works it doesn't. Even in the sample source code of the ajaxcontrol tool kit the word today doesn't get translated when I set the culture to a culture other than english.

Is there a version that works with asp.net 2.0 that the translation works?

Multi-step Creation Wizard Using AJAX And JQuery?

Apr 6, 2010

I'm in the process of redesigning a creation wizard in our ASP.NET MVC 2 application. Our current method is to have different pages for each step and navigate between them. While this works, it's a bit slow and annoying to navigate.I was looking to use JQuery and AJAX to make this feel a bit more dynamic and to also use client side validation.I have investigated using Ajax.BeginForm() to post back the individual steps of the wizard, and have that post return the partial view containing the new form with the next step of the wizard. That way, I can do client-side validation on each step. With this in mind, is Ajax.BeginForm() a better method than using the JQuery form plugin? Has anyone found any major issues with either approach?

AJAX :: Use Accordion Or Tab Control For Multi-part Form?

Apr 11, 2010

I would like to create a multi-part form that can be used for entering and updating data.

From all of the tutorials it was unclear to me how to read the value of, for example, the text in a text box, so that I can update a database. One of the videos deals with using find control to find the values of controls that are inside item templates. That doesn't seem to be applicable here.

The second question I have is how to populate the value of a textbox or dropdown list from a database.

I want to do this programmatically.

AJAX :: CollapsiblePanel Not Working In Multi Level Of Nested Gridview?

Aug 2, 2010

Ques 1. I am pasting only excerpts of my panel code (limited length here) within which I have 3 levels. The collapsible panel works fine till level 2 but when I am clicking on level 3 it shows for a second and collapses back to level 2. The collapsible doesnt work on panel pnlUserAccess below.

Ques 2. Can I make collapsible panel work on particular button click or image click?. As when I just put to to 2 levels I have to edit within the gridview and as soon as I click on the checkbox to edit the panel collapses.. I need to just give it a tree view style of appearance.

Ques 3. Can I also make the collapsible panel enable on read mode and disable on edit mode (if there is no possiblity for Ques 2)how to make it work. Just to be more specific on the code.
