AJAX :: File Upload With UpdatePanel Not Working. File Is Null. Updateprogress?
Jan 24, 2011
I'm trying to use below simple code for ajax postback. With file upload, neither javascript the "function startRequest" ever triggers, the file control shows null value somemore.Earlier I had Update progress which didn't work with file upload ever so I removed it. Now I just want to disable the button as the file is uploaded and its inputs are processed in the background. Once the response comes back, the "submit" button is re-enabled.But the file-upload with Updatepanel doesn't work at all. What am I doing wrong,
I have a wep page. Its consists of some controls along fileupload controls. My page Fully placed into UpdatePanel. when i press the submit all contols values and file upload file should be stored into back end.i used vs2008 framework 3.5.
Note: for fileUploading perpose i should write trigger with postback on submit button.while processing the submit button action i want to show some processing (progressing) controls like round rotation like..shall i place on ajax toolkit 4.0 instead of 3.5.
I have a Submit button and some functionality like updating DB and fetching next page in the button click event. This process takes a long time and I want to display a message saying "Progress...." right after clicking the botton. I want to do the same in 20 other pages. So, best way to do it wd be to put the modalpopup MPE or an Updateprogress in a usercontrol or in master page. I first tried putting both of these on the page itself to test and see and neither worked.
I tried using Update progress control with a dummy updatepanel and giving the Submit button as Asyntrigger to the dummy updatepanel. I have also tried using MPE but it didnt work either. Below is an example of what i did..
I am using the async file upload control to upload to a image file. I want the user to upload only jpg files. And for that I am checking the uploadedfile content type in server side, after the upload complets. I wanna check this, before upload starts. There is one javascript method
function startUpload(sender, args){}
but how to access the content type of the file selected by user.
I want to use Ajax File Upload control from toolkit. This control begin to upload the file as soon as i select from the browse dialogue box. But what i want is, I want that upload start when i click on submit button.
im trying to update a movie picture using file upload control that is located under an update panel but nothing seems to get updated, is there anyway that the update panel is giving me this mess cuz i have tryd everything nothing seems to work only if its with an update panel ..
iam using masterpage and ajax update panel, i have child page called fileupload.aspx,i try to upload the file but its not working , can i use updatepanel in child page.
I have an asp.net panel having various controls including gridview. I have converted this panel into pdf and attached it as an email attachment using memory stream. Everything is working fine. Now I have an File upload control outside panel through which I have to attach a file and send it in mail along with the already attached panel. But I am unable to figure out how to do it.
I have 3 upload controls ,one listbox and two button controls in page. One button control named Attach has the code to add the files to listbox form 3rd file upload control and the 2nd button control named Save has the code to save the files of 1st and 2nd file upload controls in application folder and items of listbox to database.
The issue is couldn't maintain the state of 1st and 2nd file upload controls after browsing the files to file upload controls and clicking on Attach button control to add file name to listbox which was browsed by 3rd file upload control. So i placed the 3rd file upload control, Attach button and listbox in update panel but its not working. My requirement is when clicked on save button files of 1st and 2nd file upload controls in application folder and items of listbox to database, but 1st and 2nd file upload controls will loose the files as soon as Attach button is clicked to add filename of 3rd fileupload control to listbox.
My problem is Asyncfileupload control is working fine when i debug the application and upload large file...but when i run this from iis it only upload file less then 5 kb. why is that so?? i did try adding Httpruntime maxRequestLength="4096" i tried to find on search but no help... did m i mising any settings..??
In my aspx page I have UploadFile, Button and a Gridview. I have embedded all controls in Updatepanel control but upon selecting file in UploadFile control, Upon click of the button UpdateProgress text message does not work whereas without using Updatepanel it works very fine. What could be the reason? and solution for this.
I have an export to excel functionality on my web application. WHen the user clicks the "Export to Excel" button, the file is created and it will ask the user to open it or save it to their local machine.
Since the file creation process takes a long time, I added the ajax update progress control. SO now, as soon as the user clicks the "Export to Excel" button, the progress bar image shows up, but after the file is created, I get the following error.
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed.
I know that, if we use Response.write in the code behind, we get this error. But I have to use Response.Write because I am presenting the user with a prompt to save or open the newly created file. Is there any other way to do this?
I have a form which uploads a photo to my database, and I use a view model to aid in this process.
View Model:
public class GalleryViewModel { //Members: public Gallery _photo { get; set; } public string _title { get; set; }[code]...
When I debug the code, I see that the in the post method in my controller, all the information from the form is updated in the view model except for the uploadFile which is null.In the form I use enctype = "multipart/form-data". When I use my master page the uploadFile is null but when I use the default MVC master page everything works fine.
Until the Dec 29th my website was working fine. Then My fileupload problems started happening. My fileupload page would simply quit and say the page can not be found. I maximized all my timeout settings and that did not work. I called my hosting company and apparently they have no problem using my page to upload files from their geographical area. So then I concluded it might be a network problem. I ran a trace route and could not really figure out where the problem was. So, I have no idea what is going on. Is it possible that my site is being blocked by some black list out there somewhere?
I have a web application which has 2 different versions deployed. 1 is an ASP.Net web forms version and the other is an ASP.Net MVC version
I have a File Upload page which dynamically creates a directory folder for the target location of the file to be uploaded to.
The application is using Forms Authentication for outside users and Integrated Windows Authentication for inside the network users.
I have an issue where a user can upload a file in the ASP.Net Web Forms version fine. But when the same user tries to upload the file in the MVC version the user gets a File.IO permission error.
Here's the kicker: I can upload the same file in both versions. The user is in a remote location but I believe they're still inside the network because they can work on the other parts of the application just fine.
Possible clues: In the event log there's an info that says Event code:4005 Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: Ticket supplied was invalid.
What would be your initial thoughts on why this is happening?
I want to upload files to the web servers from the client machines.
Can i upload a file on a network share folder using file upload control?
I would like to create a share folder on a file server sitting next to the web server. If i upload the file from the network share folder instead of uploading it from the client machine does it make any difference?
Will the file be stored in a temporary location before copying to the final destination? Where will be the file stored in this case of uploading it from share folder?
I have a form with a few fields that the user has to fill, and then an upload field that allows the user to upload their article (I haven't added the code to check for file size and format yet; trying to get it to save first!)
For some reason, the click event of the button doesn't run, and I don't get any exceptions or such. Here's the .aspx file:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" title="Submit an Article" CodeFile="SubmitArticle.aspx.cs" Inherits="SubmitArticle" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server">
It seems UpdateProgress will be displayed covering the entire area of the UpdatePanel. I want to replicate this behavior using plain javascript, as this behavior needs to be done for a windows client form. Are there any javascript libraries available? I am using a Browser control inside windows client form to get results and render them.
I have a simple file input field that utilizes a File.Copy routine to move the file from the local store to the server. This part of the application works fine in staging but in production I had to establish a work around in order to get it to work. I have the users do a Save As on the file they want to upload and then slightly change the name of the file and then it will upload. I do not have to do this in staging with the same file in order for it to work. I am racking my brain as to whether this is a permissions issue or code issue or what.
