AJAX :: Fill A Listbox With Value Selected From A Dropdownlist

Maybe the question has already be posted, but I didn't find it. I have in my web page two controls: a dropdownlist and a listbox My goal is to fill the listbox with values from my database depending on what I have selected in my dropdownlist. I wouldlike to use the CascadingDropDown component for that. Is that possible? (I tried on my own and I get this error message

I have a modalpopup extender that is brought up if the user presses a button. This is fine and the user can enter the data. There are a number of textboxes and dropdownlists. However, I have a gridview which I want to bring up modalpopupextender so the user can edit an entery. How can I set the data to the controls? A dynamicpopulate extender will repopulate the modalpopupextender with all the data. It doesn't make sense for me. Is there anyway I can populate the data with c#? Also can I assign two buttons to call the modalpopupextender?

I have to parse the data to dropdownlist and then choosed the data from dropdownlist, this data will be appear in listbox. But my problem is when I parse the data to dropdownlist, I used updatepanel. It is no problem. It is okay. And then when I choose the data from dropdownlist, It can't be appear in listbox. Why? I have no idea. My code is :

I have a number of dropdownlists which use cascading dropdownlist / webservices. All fine. Now user wants last dropdown to be multi-select. So I want to replace the last dropdownlist with a listbox. But there is no cascadinglistbox. I'm looking for a straight-forward solution if possible. Either how to fill the listbox with the existing webservice which fills the last dropdownlist, or - is it possible to use the contrents of the last dropdown as a datasource for the listbox? I thought maybe hide the last dropdown and loop through its contents to fill the listbox.

I'm having trouble getting selected items in a listbox to be seen as selected. On my aspx page there's a listbox and a button:

But if I change my condition to Not selected, the string does build, with every item in the list. So the Sub is reached, the items and their text and values are seen, but user selection of items doesn't work. What am I missing?

I'm wanting to maintain the dropdownlist values that were selected when i use postbackurl with a button. They cascading dropdowns are on a masterpage in an accordion pane. I select the 3 vales in the ddl and then presss a button which redirects to the new content page.
I've been able to get the values using previousPage.master.fincontrol... but am then setting the selectedValue in the page_init of the conent page, but they aren't set when the page loads... does anyone know where to put the code to set the values?

I have a form in which I have a gridview with a LinkButton culumn in which when the user clciks a modal popup extender shows up. In the modalpopup I have a dropdownlist which is filled from DB in code behind. but when the user clicks on Add button in modalpopup panel, the selected value of the dropdownliast is always its default value.

I traced my code behind, the fillData() which fills up dropDownList is called only once in page load's first time.
PS. I understood the problem exists only when the modal is poped up by linkbutton click of gridview. when It is poped up by a button outside the grid it workes fine.

I am unable to get the selected value of the DropDownList. When the user selects a value and clicks OK, the value that was loaded as the default selected value with an index of 0 is available in code behind, not the newly selected value. See the attached code for the dropdownlist in the Modal Popup form.

I use RequiredFieldValidator for Dropdownlist and I have button.I want if users don't select Item from DropDownList when they click on button it will shows validation error and if they select Item from DDL and click on button it will shows popup..now here if users don't select Item from DDL and click on button it show validation error and popup both...I want if they don't select Item from DDL it just show validation error and if they select Item from DDL it just show popup.

This code will display the selected value from the listbox. E.g. if I sellect Item 1 I will get the following output: You have selected Item 1.
Label1.Text = "You have selected " + DropDownList1.SelectedValue + "<br />";
But if I don't select anything and click on Submit button, I will get: You have selected
What would I need to make it display "You have not selected anything. select at least 1 item."
UPDATE: I am using ASP.NET WebForms.
