I am using asp.net asyncfile upload control
I want to do this stuff. when user select the file i want to check the size. that is ok. check the extension that is ok. but i want to check the image dimension. all is to be done on server side.
i want to clear the upload control and show error message when any error occured.
I already visit the asp.net site demo.
I'm thinking of using a modal pop up control that would have a details view in it. I currently have a details view that uses CSS Friendly control adapters with the CssSelectorClass attribute. Can I use the CSS friendly CssSelectorClass property with a details view in the modal pop up and style it as I'm currently doing with my Details View?

I'm rather new to the topic of designing web applications, and during my attempts to create something i stumbled upon a rather tricky question. For my application I want to do a user control with which user will be able to select a file from a hard drive and upload details about this file. I dont want the user to send the whole file, just the details about it. For example lets say user selects a mp3 file. I dont want the whole song to be uploaded but i want the details about that song like the Author, on Album etc. Is something like this possible without uploading the whole file?

I have a database with Pictures in it, they are varbinary(MAX) type, the database is SQL 2005
1. How can I use Linq to SQL to give me the total byte(file size) of a picture stored in a record.
2. How do I get total byte (file size's) of many pictures my a where clause.

I am trying to use a fileupload, to add rows to my gridview on this page. This page is basically a simple admin panel where I can add data to my database. The file upload is used to grab the path of the file and upload the path to the database not the file. I've been reading quite a few tutorials on web services and xml files and one thing isn't quite clear to me. If I want to create an XML file on the fly the tutorials are pretty straight forward but, I want to grab an existing XML file from the web server and return the whole thing. Do I need to read the XML file and send each individual node or is there a way to send the file all at once? The tutorials imply that the whole file could be a node but I'm not clear on what that entails or if it would work. Also do you have a link to an example?

how to retrieve this file information in ASP.NET? I am building an upload page and want to retrieve more information than just the basic file-name, file extension etc info. I am coding in VB. I set up the gridview to show select and wanted to then connect a details view so that when you selected a row the entire details would show up. When I run it I get this error.
