Now i have one textbox called Userid when i put some number it is listing the list of IDs from the database using AutoCompleteExtender. I need to make, if selected ID correct, other Form Field should fill with relevant data. Currently i am filling it with TextChange event for the UserID field, but it is reloading the whole page. I populate the ListBox with ListItems and each ListItem's Value property holds the full path to the file. But, I removed all of that and just put txtLog.Text = "test" inside of the "is selected" block.

Mar 7, 2011I know this is probably a pretty easy thing to do and it is if I can upload the file and store it onto the hard drive of the server. What I need to do is read the text file into memory and then parse through it one line at a time. Anyone have any code that demonstrates that?

but when I tried to add the service reference to the silverlight app, the Add Service Reference window would show me that there was a service file, but the node wouldn't expand to show the rest of the files that contain the services and what not. I got this error instead:
"An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately."
"Parser Error Message:There is no service behavior named 'AdventureWorks_WebServer.Service1Behavior'."
"Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'http://localhost:55579/Service1.svc'.

Better Way For Reading Values Form Url In JavaScript
Feb 10, 2011I came across old web application which has the code to read the parameters from the URL of the site. The code is full of string processing. http://hostname.domain[port number]/application name?arg1=value1...&argN=valueN onsidering that URL parameters are always encoded it is litter difficult to rely on string processing. Also not sure if one can rely 100% on the URLEncode/Decode functions of the JavaScript.

MVC :: Reading Form Dropdown Values
Jan 16, 2010sorry for the naive question, but it looks it should work and it does not. Say I have this simple scenario: a controller with its view with a single action, Index. The view has a form with a dropdown with some letters and submit button. When the form is submitted (to the same Index action of the same controller) the controller should fetch from a repository all the persons whose last name begins with the selected letter and pass it back to the view. So my controller is like this (I'm using the MVC Contrib data grid):

This works the 1st time I submit the form, but whenever I click the next/previous button of the pager the Index action is invoked but I cannot read the dropdown selection: I tried with Request.Form and with a different signature in the action (by adding it a string LastName parameter), but I always get NULL instead of the selected value, so that the query returns no persons. What I'm doing wrong? How can I read the dropdown value across posts to the same action?

Oct 5, 2010I am using Adobe Captivate 5, and ime trying to create an ASP script which will store the results from a quiz in an SQL database. The problem I am having is that captivate is posting the results from the quiz in multipart/form-data format and I am unable to retrieve the variables in my ASP script.
I have tried request.form("test") and fileUpload("test") and neither retreives the varibales.
What is the syntax to retrieve data that has been posted in the multipart/form-data format???

Reading Txt File And Modify Content To A Output File?
Jan 5, 2011I would like to find a way to read a txt file (in my case delimited by ¤). I need to change the order of the columns and also add and remove some columns. My output file should be a txt file delmited by ;.
I tried Jet.OLEDB to read the file and put it into a datatable and then used a stringBuilder and streamwriter to get an output file in .txt format. However. This does not me since I´, reading the txt file from start to end and my output will be the same. It does not seem like I can have a custom sql statement when reading the file. The only query that works is

Submit A Form With A Large File Upload And Send Ajax Requests?
Mar 8, 2011This works in other browsers but not in chrome. I am trying to allow users to upload large files and have an ajax call to update them on the progress of the file upload.
So a unique ID is generated on the client side and added to the action of the form before sending. Then the form is submitted (form only contains a file upload input) and an ajax call is made to get the progress of the upload. The ajax call goes to another page and uses the ID to lookup the upload.
I am using JQuery 1.5.1. Debugging this and putting something on the error function give me nothing other than "error". Not very helpful. I used Chrome's debugger and it just says failed to load resource xxxx.aspx. xxx.aspx is the URL i needed. Turns out that there seems to be some sort of conflict between the form and the ajax call.

AJAX :: Can't Implement An Autocompleteextender
Mar 11, 2010i'm using visual web developer 2008 express edition, i added the ajax toolkit to the tools without issue. SOME tools, like the accordian (and others) allow me to drag and drop them onto my forms. but others, such as the autocompleteextender wil not allow me to drag and drop them onto a form. i just get a circle with a line through it (as if to say - this is not allowed) - why is that?
i tried coding the extender in manually like many examples i've seen online:

AJAX :: AutoCompleteExtender + Backspace In IE8
Oct 19, 2010I've got an AutoCompleteExtender on one of my pages, it seems to be working fine aside from this strange behaviour: Let's say I key in 2 characters, the suggestion list would display. When I press on backspace to delete those 2 characters, wait until the suggestion list to disappear, and re-enter those 2 characters, the suggestion list would no longer display (or sometimes would flicker for about a second after losing focus from the textbox) and I'll need to refresh the page just to get it working again.
However, if I do press backspace and delete those 2 characters but not let the suggestion list to disappear and re-enter new characters, it would continue displaying with correct suggestions. This behaviour seems to happen only in IE8, (although it works with IE8 using Compatibility View and Firefox)... My code is almost the same as the sample on this site except for the animations, and the service looks up in a database table.

May 21, 2010I am having a problem with the AutoCompleteExtender contol that I've put up on my webpage. I have this employee page where the seach is done at the very top and I'm using this control ; The formatted name is my search key that I'm doing in my web method. Now when I am deleting an employee and reloading the page...the Formatted name still appears during the page load. I've to close the window and load it again to get the updated employee list.

May 24, 2010I am using AjaxAutoCompleteExtender in my asp.net program (C#) . I am applying the extender to a texbox and using internal Web Service. I am getting the desired result, when i am running from the development environment. After Publishing the site to IIS, I am not getting the list and not showing any errors. I have turned off custom errors. My website is not an Ajax Enabled WebSite. So i added the lines into my Web.Config.I tried all service path.. http://localhost/Test/ WebService.asmxhttp://192.109.1.8/Test/WebService.asmxand i tried ~/Test/WebService.aspxWhile testing from the development environment, i am using the last one.I am not sure whether this is the problem with the service path or any permission issue.

AJAX :: AutoCompleteExtender Key Value In Text Box?
Apr 7, 2010I am using ASP.NET 3.5...I have a text box where I am using the AutoCompleteExtender for search.
When user enter the key the serach shows the "ProjectNumber-ProjectName" in the search result....after selecting any of this...only ProjectNumber is entered in the textbox (I am using hidden control to store key values)...everything works fine till here.Now I have a problem with values stored in the hidden control...for example in the text box there are three ProjectNumbers ..A,B,C....now I go ahead and delete all these three and enter the key word again...the search work fine but when I select any value the Text box is populated with old value (coming from hidden control) like A,B,C and then new value D
Please suggest me how I can assign the hidden text box value with the new text box values after the selection is done...
