AJAX :: SliderExtender Causes TextChanged Event To Fire On Every PostBack?

Oct 7, 2010

I need a Slider that will only postback when the slider has been moved. Can this be achieved with SliderExtender?

I have a TextBox with autopostback=true, within an updatepanel within a usercontrol. The TextBox is extended by SliderExtender (default settings).

The TextBox's TextChanged event fires perfectly when the slider is moved (MouseUp - standard extender setting). The aspx page is partially posted back, and all is well.

However, if another usercontrol on the same aspx page causes a partial postback, the SliderExtender causes the TextChanged event to be raised - for no aparent reason. This is causing problems.

Is it possible to prevent postback unless the slider has actually been moved?!

AJAX :: ControlToolkit TextBoxWatermarkExtender Fires TextChanged Event On Every Postback?

Sep 21, 2010

I haven't been able to find anything on the net about this yet. A project that used to work fine all of a sudden started having trouble with a couple users. The TextBoxWatermarkExtenders for these users are now always firing the TextChanged event of the textboxes they are assigned to for every postback. I don't think this is what they are supposed to do. They didn't use to do this. Has anyone else experienced this? I can add code to ignore these unintentional events, but I would like to know why all of a sudden the change in behavior.

AJAX :: Fire TextChanged From ColorPickerExtender?

Jun 11, 2010

I have a TextBox in a GridView ItemTemplate that uses the TextChanged event to immediately update the database record as soon as they finish editing. The TextBox stores a colour value in Hex.

What I did was use the ColorPickerExtender on it to make it easier for end users to choose a colour, however, if the colour is changed using the picker, even though the contents of the textbox changes, the TextChanged event doesn't fire.I believe I need to add a client-side event handler to the textbox, but I can't work out how to get that to trigger the postback and run the TextChanged event.Or is there a way to utilise the OnClientColorSelectionChanged event to force a postback?

AJAX :: To Change SliderExtender Value From Server Without Postback?

Oct 21, 2010

Right now, the SliderExtender value (when dragged around) will cause a normal postback on TextChanged.

My situation is, the server side code would also like to dynamically change this slider value. When it does this, it changes the sliderextender value by javascript. However, teh problem is, when this happens, another postback occurs raising the OnTextChanged
event when a postback occurs. So how can I change the sliderextender value from the server side withotu raising a postback?

I've tried to set autopostback=false, then set teh value, then setting it back to true but this wasn't workign in javascript.

AJAX :: SliderExtender Behavior Can Only Be Capture After A Postback?

Dec 3, 2010

I'm using SliderExtender in content of a Master Page.

It has a JavaScript function that is called in both $(document).ready and Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance() .add_endRequest() .

When I initial the page, the function is not active, it says " $find('BehaviorID') " is null, while other JavaScript function (without behaviourID) works smoothly.

But when I do a postback on the page. The slider function turns to available.

It seems the page didn't generate properly, miss a slider tag with class = "...BehaviorID..."

AJAX :: Combo Box TextChanged Event Not Fired If Value Is Not In The List?

Mar 10, 2011

I have an Ajax Toolkit Combo Box in DropDown Style (to allow user to enter custom value). The event SelectedIndexChanged and TextChanged works fine if the user select an item of the list of the combo box.

The problem is if the user enter a value that is not in the list of the item of the combo box, the event SelectedIndexChanged nor TextChanged are fired. Is there a way to "force" those events to be fired?

Here is some code.

Force An Event Handler To Fire For A Custom Control On Every Postback?

Feb 11, 2011

I've created a UserControl that is dynamically placed onto my page during the Init event. It populates and works great, but I'm left scratching my head at how to retrieve data from it during a postback.

It's effectively a multipick combobox that is manipulated entirely using clientside JavaScript (I'm using jQuery heavily). Inside the control container element, I render an empty DIV element that contains all of the selected items. As the user selects items, I generate DIVs within that container DIV that includes some markup. Of interest to me on the server side are the contents of a couple of INPUT fields.

After selecting an item, the rendered HTML looks something like:

[code]....

I may be completely off track and this may actually be impossible (or a stupid idea). The only alternative I can think of is to emit actual ASP.NET controls and hook the built-in event handlers.

Update Panel - Textbox TextChanged Event Is Interfering With The DropDown SelectedIndexChanged Event?

Oct 20, 2010

Basics: I have a text box (txtDepositAmount) that people can enter a deposit amount into and a drop down (ddlSelectedTerm) that sets the terms. Through these two values I calculate the APY (lblCurrentApy).

Rules: If only one of the values is selected I still want to do an update on the current APY label and clear it. If either value changes I want to update the current APY and recalculate.

The problem: As soon as I click away from the textbox and onto the drop down to select my term the drop down flashes and closes because the textbox TextChanged event was just fired.

I have to click on the drop down a second time to be able to select anything!

Do I need to change what event I'm looking at or do I need to move some of the controls outside of the UpdatePanel? Can this only happen if some of the business rules change? Should I just give up and go to javascript?

Web Forms :: Working With Events / When A Button Id Pressed Only 'Click' Event To Be Fired And Not The ComboBox's 'TextChanged' Event?

Jul 13, 2010

I have one Button (Refresh Button), One ComboBox (containing DEV and UAT as its items) and a GridView on my asp page.

I am filling up my Grid with values from database on the ComboBox's 'TextChanged' event and Buttons's 'Click' event.

First time when page is loaded, there is no information in the grid, but when i choose DEV/UAT from the ComboBox 'TextChanged' event is fired, the grid is filled with the relevant data. That is what i want.

When i click the Refresh Button to refresh the data again, first comboBox's 'TextChanged' event and then 'btn_Click' event is fired.

I want then when a button id pressed only 'Click' event to be fired and not the ComboBox's 'TextChanged' event.

C# - Button Event Handlers Do Not Fire On The First Click But On The Second Click After A PostBack

May 4, 2010

Background: I am customizing an existing ASP .NET / C# application. It has it's own little "framework" and conventions for developers to follow when extending/customizing its functionality. I am currently extending some of it's administrative functionality, to which the framework provides a contract to enforce implementation of the GetAdministrationInterface() method, which returns System.Web.UI.Control. This method is called during the Page_Load() method of the page hosting the GUI interface.

Problem: I have three buttons in my GUI, each of which have been assigned an Event Handler. My administration GUI loads up perfectly fine, but clicking any of the buttons doesn't do what I expect them to do. However, when I click them a second time, the buttons work.

I placed breakpoints at the beginning of each event handler method and stepped through my code. On the first click, none of the event handlers were triggered. On the second click, they fired.

Example of Button Definition (within GetAdministrationInterface)
