When data is stored in my database as Ex: normal, and the data that the Combox is bound to has Ex: Normal, the mismatch in case is throwing an error when the form opens. The CaseSensivity setting on the ComboBox has no effect on this and it was the same with the asp List Box. We sometimes have data imported that has incorrect case and causes this problem.
View 4 RepliesHow can I achieve hover effect for the ajaxtoolkit combobox. I just need an outline for the entire combo i.e. outline for combo-textbox and combo-button when hovering over the combobox otherwise it should return to the normal outline color.
I could only get the hovering effect for combo-textbox alone and that too an outline creates at outer of the existing combo-textbox outline.
BTW: how can I attach an image from my desktop?

When I change the background image listed in a CSS class it does not always show up, rather the old image does, even though the old image file does not exist in the web site. Is there some other place where VWD stores the old image outside of the website?
View 2 Replies First let me say that I am new to ASP.net and I come from a Microsoft access background hence my post is in Access terminology i.e Main form / Sub Form. I am not sure what the correct terms to use for ASP.net are and this might hamper my explanation a bit but here goes.
In Microsoft Access (MC) you can create a main form and then drag and drop a subform onto it and the application automatically knows how to pass the primary key from the mainform to the foreign key on the subform when a record is created. So my question is how can I get the same effect in ASP.NET.
Let's say I am using the Surrogate Key approach (autonumber primary key) and I have a table called "Customers" and another table called "Address" where one customer can have many addresses.
1. How can I set it up so that when I am entering multiple addresses for a customer the application knows which primary key of which customer to use?
2. What are the best controls to use for this (Gridview, Formview, etc)
3. Building upon the above. Lets say i select ONE customer from a list of customers and I have many different subforms how does the application know what is the primary key to use as I update information on this customer in the various tables.
I know this is a lot I am asking, or it is simple and it is just a lot in my mind as I am new.

Choosing value 1 results in a SelectedValue of 1
Choosing value 2 results in a SelectedValue of 2

does the combobox has as a disadvantage that the Text has to be unique?
I'm try to add a combobox to my form which i have done and populate it with the infomation i need but i want to stop the user from being able to edit the first 5 character in the textbox part of the combo box( 1 is this possible 2 am i going about it in the right way).
I have 3 columns fro a db to enter ips ie 123.456.7.89 at the start if each number i want (SE1)(SE2)(SE3) which i can do at the momment . So I get in the combobox list 3 items with (SE1)123.456.7.89 OR just (SE1) depending of i a result is returned from the DB. However i don't want the user to be able to edit out the (SE?) part of the sting in the textbox. When editing i've tried used the text change event to try and capture the change and make sure the string.length > 5 , but the event does not fire also when i leave the combobox it it adds to the combox list. If I refersh it goes back to how it should be with only the 3 items.

it binding correctly(datasource dynamically binded) and it raises event too while changing index but it is not raising event when we manually clearing the combobox text..if currently combobox having text "ASP" then i manually select that entire text and using del key i am deleting but it is not raising event for me.. when i change index it automatically raising event...i need to raise event while combobox is empty...

So, what I get is an accordion that shows headers, but clicking on them won't open the data.What I'm guessing is that the sliding effect is blocked for some reason.What I'm trying to achieve are this two:1. Cancel the sliding effect so the data will show right-away, thus answering the problem caused by some browsers2. Cancel It only when the page detects that there might be a problem. there are animation effect to controls onload , onmouseover, onclick ...... but i can't find method to give animation effect to a label ontextchanged .
how to do this. I have asp.net page left side tab container each tab panel have options to procede a quotation when clicking radio buttons or check boxes right side panel gives quotation, and change total price on label.

I have a problem with CascadingDropDown... I have two related comboboxes, where the second is a slave of the first (e.g. country the first, cities the second). What I want is that if I select one country from combobox 1 then the second must be "filtered" by that selection (it should display all the cities inside the selected country, and the actual CascadingDropDown implementation is OK), but if I leave the combobox 1 in the default option (e.g. "Please select a country") I want the second to display all the cities I have in the database. The problem is that when selecting default option for combobox 1 the second combobox is disabled and a postback to my webservice never occurs.

1. User selects a State from the first combobox. This triggers the City combobox to be populated. The item(0) is "Select One:".
2. I want the entire "Select One:" to be hightlight as if the user had used their mouse and highlighted all the text.
The reason for this that I'd like the user to be able to start typing the city without needing to clear out the "Select One:" manually.

I have been trying to figure out how to Clear out the contents of a combobox; both the dropdown list and the textbox. Currently I have

this is clearing out the listbox, but if something was in the Textbox it remains. If I add
Combobox.Text=""
then I get "Combobox has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items."
I've tried several other combinations, none of which worked. how to clear out textbox portion of the combobox?
