AJAX :: UpdatePanel / Timer On Page Takes Focus Off A Textbox
Jan 29, 2010
On the home page of my site I have an UpdatePanel with a Timer which ticks every couple of seconds. Un-related to that I have a user login forum (username / password) If you are typing your username into the textbox while the timer ticks, it takes focus off the textbox.
I have an updatepanel in my content page with a timer which re-renders the updatepanel every 5 seconds.I also have a textbox outside of this updatepanel in my masterpage.Whenever the timer ticks, focus is lost from my textbox. What possible reasons are there for this happening?
i have a Textbox and a few update panels. But each time the update panel clicks, then the focus on the textbox is gone So for example, we all know that when a user clicks on a textbox, there will be a blinking | symbol. But each time my panel updates, the focus on the textbox goes. Does anyone know how i could keep the focus on? as in, each time there is an update, still keep that textbox | symbol blinking.
i have three textboxes in a page and one datagird and 1 timer control, i have 2 update panels.
i placed (all textboxes) in one update panel and i placed (data gird and timer control) in an other update panel, because i want to reset or clear all fields when cancel button is clicked so that update panel should be updated,and where timer control tick event is fired i rebind the gird or refresh the gird, i have done this and it works properly but problem is that when i am going to write some text in any textbox or i want to focus on any text box it should lost focus when timer control tick event is fired so how can i maintain focus, or even how can i get focus of current control and after firing of timer control tick event i should reassing focus of such control
Before I start to write my problem, I will excuse for my bad English and I hope you can understand me. I have in a ASP.NET Webapplication an AJAX Updatepanel. In this Updatepanel is a Textbox for dynamic search results. When I start to write in the Textbox, the results comes like Google suggest. Now, the focus must be always on the Textbox (inputn field), now metter whereto the User clicks. Currently the ASP.NET updatepanel refreshed after a few seconds when the User starts to type.
i am designing a page that has dateofbith as a textbox.
i want to display a calender control which is placed in div tag. by default it is div style as display:None
i want change this property to display:block when DateOfBirth textbox got focused but it is server side control so please help me how to display that div when i got focussed .
If that is even the right combination of controls to use.. I have a page that will display a list of files that have been processed or processing.. its not really time sensitive, but would like for the page to refresh the gridview every say every minutelonger(not determined yet)Is that the most optimal way to accomplish this, i mean if you are on the page, i dont want you to have to hit refresh to see any new records or status changes to the existing records..
I have a quite strange situation where I have the following code:
[Code]....
This gives a quite strange result: Every 5s my whole page gives a full postback. When I comment in (activate) the asyncpostbacktrigger, the updatepanel does not give a full postback. In the PlayerItems_ItemDataBound I have the following code (which, I do think, do not matter):
[Code]....
When I create a NEW updatepanel, ItemsUpdatePanel1, it does not fire a full postback without the timer. I can even start copying items from ItemsUpdatePanel to ItemsUpdatePanel1, and suddenly the full postbacks happen. I tried 2 seperate times, and they started happening at different times. I simply want the UpdatePanel NOT to give a full postback, even without a timer.
I have a countdown timer inside updatepanel. When it reaches 00:00:00, it processes a huge amount of data and that point of time, i'd like to disable the submit button outside updatepanel. Simple btn.enabled = false is not working.
GOAL: on a web page (vb.net) content in a placeholder will refresh with a different .ascx (user control) every 30 seconds (rotating 3 in total) and of course i dont want to refresh the whole page, just the placeholder.
I'm new at AJAX (that's my first problem - lol)
I set the timer up to call a function, but not sure how to go about refreshing the placeholder with a different ascx file. I'm sure i'll be using UpdatePanel to do this, but haven't been able to figure this out. Easy to replace a value in a label using AsyncPostBack trigger, but nothing on how to achieve this.
I don't understand what the problem is with this. It should be a simple operation yet it doesn't work.
I found samples on how to do this, when I apply the sample, it doesn't work.
In my page I have this:
[code]....
When I run the page, after 5 seconds it switches from the first image to the second image and never switches back to the first image.
When I debug with a break in the code-behind, it looks like the timer ticks twice for every tick. So, when the image is sample2, it then changes back to sample1 and then immediately ticks again and switches back to sample2 with no update-panel refresh in between.
I cannot use asyncFileUpload as it has too many restrictions which doesn't meet our requirement.
I'm able to add a updatepanel trigger to force the Button1 to perform a postback. after the file uploaded, I need to use a timer to do different tasks and return messages back to client with the timer. That is all fine.
However, when one upload is finished. I try to do it again. The FileUpload1.HasFile is "false". I don't know why. if I remove the timer, at the second time, the HasFile is "true". I think there must be something in the timer and disable the Button1's postback.
I have two text boxes inside an update panel , what I am trying to do is when the text inside the first text box changes I want the focus to move to the second box, somehow this is not working for me I am pasint below the snap shot for the ASP code and the page behind code for it
I have a timer control on my gridview that refreshes it at a 3 minute interval, but when a user is updating the gridview it will mess us the update and then they have to start over again. How can i set some kind of focus event on the gridview to shut off the timer update that refreshes the gridview.
I have a panel which contains a textbox and a button. The panel will be shown as a modal popup using the 'modal popup extender' . I want to set the focus to the textbox in the panel when my modal pop up loads .
In my markup, in addition to a number of other controls I have the following:
<%:Html.TextBoxFor( m => m.UserName)%>
I'd like to be able to set the focus to this textbox when the page is loaded. Is there a really easy way to do this? I have to admit that so far I haven't found it. I know that I can do this using something like this JQuery/Javascript code: $('#UserName').focus();
However, I don't like the fact that the model field name 'UserName' has to be expressed as a string constant again here - it smells of a maintenance problem. I'd really like to be able to reference the model field directly if possible. Somethiing like this: $('#' + '<%:Html.ModelFieldNameFor(m => m.UserName)%>').focus();
I have made a chat application which is working fine but to refresh the text messages which is seen by user 1 and input by user 2 I have used timer.Timer periodically updates messages and ScriptManger1.SetFocus(TextBox1.ClientID) sets the focus but.. when I do so ,user 1 (if) inputting text watches message box being repopulated but at the same time all the text he wrote in yet to send textbox text is washed away!!!So how can we set focus at the end of the textbox text?
