AJAX :: UpdatePanel.Update() From Another User Control?
Dec 22, 2010I'm new in developing and i'm in trouble with update a UpdatePanel inside a User Control from a Repeater inside another User Control.
View 3 RepliesI'm new in developing and i'm in trouble with update a UpdatePanel inside a User Control from a Repeater inside another User Control.
View 3 RepliesI've exempted the irrelevant bits of code. Essentially, I am trying to change the URL of an image control inside of an update panel inside of a custom user control from a function called inside an update panel from my main page. Using UpdatePanel.Update() isn't working: I end up waiting for the next full page POST to occur before all the updates I make to CustomControl from buttons within the main page's update panel are visible. I verified that Update() was being called via the debugger: there are no issues in that department.
Here, you can see Custom Control and the Button declared. The button is in an update panel to avoid giving a full POST and causing the whole page to reload.
<cust:CustomControl runat="server" ID="CustomControl1">
<asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="UpdatePanel1"> <ContentTemplate>
<asp:Button id="Button1" runat="server" OnClick="DoStuff" />
</ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel>
This control stores images within their own seperate update panels because rerendering the images is very slow (it requires processing arrays of millions of datapoints) and the user only ever needs to modify one image at a time. I'm using Image1 as an example.

i have a website with three UpdatePanel Control and inside of each UpdatePanels has ONE Gridview and a SqlDataSource Control.
all gridviews are connected to its own SqlDataSource Control. so technically when i run my website all gridviews automatically get their data from their respective SqlDataSource Control and display them accordingly.
but what i need to do is instead of letting all the update panels to load each gridview their data upon Onload event, i need the updatepanel to update on queue, (Technically changing the UpdateMode to Conditional does not solve my problem.) there will be an event which will trigger the updatepanel to update later.
This sounds weird, but I would like to NOT update a control that's within an update panel. Is this possible? basically the way facebook works, facebook controls are rendered on a "get" command. but I have controls within the same update panel that cause AJAX postbacks. When the postback's happen, I lose my facebook server-side controls. I am wondering if I can "unregister" a control from an update panel? Or do I just have to redesign that page.
View 3 Repliesim trying to update a movie picture using file upload control that is located under an update panel but nothing seems to get updated, is there anyway that the update panel is giving me this mess cuz i have tryd everything nothing seems to work only if its with an update panel ..
View 2 RepliesI have a custom control created to autofill the box as typed in. Its working great. But if I put the control inside an Update Panel, it works for the full postback but if partial postback happens (because of the update panel), it does not work.
View 7 RepliesI have a user control, that has an update panel and update progress control in it.
I use this user control in more than 1 location on the same page.... problem is, when ucA posts back, I see the update progress control for both ucA and ucB. I assume this is because it is a user control and the update panel and progress are named the same?
Either way - how do I make it so that the update progress only displays for the proper user control?
Wasn't quite sure where to post this, seems like the issues could be any number of things, so I'm trying to keep it general... mods, feel free to relocate appropriately.
I am trying to build a page which will load various web user controls dynamically in response to menu selections made by the user, and then allow other interactions inside those controls (such as gridview manipulation and updates). The content page simply has a loginview, an ASP:Menu control, and an ASP:Placeholder. The placeholder is filled by the appropriate user control in response to the menu selection. Selecting a menu item causes a postback and the correct control is loaded as expected.
I realized that using dynamic loading with interactive controls would be a problem with respect to postbacks, so I added a ScriptManager to the content page and enclosed the gridview controls in the web user controls within UpdatePanels, thinking that all postbacks required by the GridView would be handled inside the UpdatePanel and not cause the parent page to refresh (which would then wipe out the dynamically loaded control). However, it does not seem to work this way. Instead, although the control containing the GridView loads correctly and displays data, when I attempt to page, edit, or select any item on the GridView, nothing happens on the first click. If I click on any item inside the control a second time, the entire page refreshes and the control and its contents disappear.
I have removed all the code inside the web user control and placed it directly into the content page to test, and everything functions correctly in that case. I think therefore that I must be missing something with how the user control is working, particularly with respect to the UpdatePanel. Is it just not possible to use an UpdatePanel to confine actions inside a user control that would otherwise cause the entire page to postback, or am I missing something somewhere?

i am using a TabContainer and at each TabPanel i have embed an UpdatePanel in order to update each tab alone.
this is my code:
[Code]....
the problem is that it makes several seconds to update each tab (the same time for every tab) and i asume that this is happening because it updates all the TabContainer and not the selected Tab.
I have a UserControl that is Added dynamicatlly into the page using UpdatePanel. That user control has an extender that does not work.
View 4 RepliesI have two updatepanels on my site (upanProfileSearch and upanMemberList). When I hit the button in the upanProfileSearch it should bind the Data Items in the gridview in upanMemberList and here make a RowFilter on the text in upanProfileSearch. When I make a run to curser, I can see, it happens. It makes a RowFilter. but it doesn't update the gridview. Can anyone tell me why it doesn't update? I have UpdateMode="Always" and RenderMode="inline" on both UpdatePanels.

I've got a DataGrid in an Update Panel, which is in a Web User Control that I've made.
I need to call Update() on the Update Panel from outside the User Control.
I have 2 user controls. The first user control generates custom paging and assigns the output as a string literal. The second user control is a simple repeater which uses values from the paging control via a query string to decide which relevant chunk of data to retrn.
The custom paging control is embeded in the custom reapeater control. In my my page, I simply call the customer erpeater control and everything works treat.I now want to add update panels to this but I can't think where to start.
The paging control looka like this.

I am having a weird issue with the update panels. I have an update panel in UpdateMode = Conditional . I have a dropdown list and a grid view..the gridview has to be updated ÖnSelectionChanged event on the dropdown.
The issue here is on changing the selection on dropdown, the onselectionchanged event is triggered, new data is grabbed, bound to gridview..but does nt update the update panel even after the updatepanel.update();

I have block of code that consists of a textbox a button and a dropdown. The text entered in the text box filters the dropdownlist when the user clicks the button. The Ajax works great when it is in a simple page but if I put the same code in a User control I get flicker.

true
);
still its not working..
i have a user control in which the cancel reset button clicks will call a javascript. this works fine when the user control is used normally...
if the usercontrol is put inside an update panel. the javascripts throw an error. "Object Excpected."
I am currently using a asp.net 2.0 with visual studio 2005.
I am trying to build a web application using ajax.
but when I drag the ajax updatepanel on asp.net page it is not resizable,so how should i put other controls on it?
I'm having a bit of an issue in my ASP.Net application moving focus from a textbox in one user control to a text box in the next user control on the page after postback. I've searched high and low over the last several days to find a solution but, for whatever reason, have been unable to do so.
I have a page that has user controls loaded dynamically to allow a user to enter data.The number and type of user controls loaded to the page is determined at run time based on a database query.It is possible than many controls of the same type can be loaded. Each user control has its own update panel. Within the update panel of each control is a regular asp panel. Inside of the regular panel there are at least 2 server controls (any other controls that may exist in the user control are not affected by this issue) - a text box and a button.The defaultbutton property of the regular panel is set to the ID of the button within the user control. The desired behavior is to allow the user to enter data into the textbox on one user control hit enter to save the data on that user control the application will set focus to the textbox of the next user control on the page after the data from the "current" user control has been saved. Other considerations;
The application uses master pages. We make extensive use of ajax and the ajaxtoolkit in the application. I am using Visual Studio 2010 and .Net 4 The issue - when first entering the page, one can enter data into the first textbox and press the enter key. Data from "current" user control is correctly saved and focus is correctly moved to the next user control on the page.
Data can be entered into the textbox of "new" user control and when the enter key is pressed, the data is correctly save. The focus appears to move correctly to the next user control on the page.Data cannot be entered into the textbox of the control. Pressing the enter key will not save the data (because none was entered) but the focus will move to the textbox of the next user control on the page.
Data can be entered into the textbox of the user control. When the enter key is pressed, the data is correctly saved and the focus appears to move correctly to the textbox of the next control on the pageBasically, steps 3 and 4 are repeated until the end of the user controls on the page, alternating between being able to enter data and not. Other items of note When one is able to enter data into the textbox of a user control, one can correctly tab through the textboxes of each user control until the end of the page When one is not able to enter data into the textbox of a user control, pressing the tab key will take the focus to the address bar of the browser.
I created a much simplified example of the scenario described above and was able to consistently reproduce the "bad" focus behavior. All of the ajax toolkit controls and code where stripped out of the sample to rule the toolkit out as a cause. The behavior still occurs without the toolkit.
I am including the code for default.aspx and WebUserControl1.ascx.

I created a .NET user control to work as a DropdownCheckbox and added Jquery to give the sliding and hide effects. The code is as below:

This control works fine in a normal page, but once I put it inside an update panel it doesn't work. Is there a work around or simply I can't use JQuery inside update panel?
I am hosting a Windows User Control in my web page using <object> tag. Everything works fine when the control is outside the updatepanel and is independent of other web controls but when I move the control inside the update panel, it doen't load the user control properly.
<object id="myBrowser" classid="http:MyBrowser.dll#MyBrowser.UserControl1" height="20" width="400" VIEWASTEXT></object>
why it doesn't render the control properly and what can I do to fix it?
I tried moving the user control outside the update panel but since this user control is shown/hidden dynamically and is rendered based on other web controls which are inside an Update Panel, the user control is not shown at all.
Does anyone know a simple way to determine if a user control is contained in an update panel that was triggered for async postback?
At the moment, the only pseudo logic for this I can think of is?
'Loop through the update panel controls on the page and find the one that is involved in the postback (isInPartialRendering)
'Try to find the user control as a child of the update panel
I am going to show some text in a TextBox, which is located outside of an updatepanel, after checking a CheckBox but I cannot make it work.
Here is my code:
<asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="uplMaster">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:CheckBox ID="cbShowText" runat="server" Text="Show Some Text" AutoPostBack="true"
OnCheckedChanged="cbShowText_CheckedChanged" />
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
<asp:TextBox ID="txtBox" Text="Empty" runat="server" />
Code Behind:
protected void cbShowText_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
txtBox.Text = "Some Text";
}
I need to update datalist in image gallery when fileupload has been completed.
<div style="display: block;">
<div>
<div style="padding-left: 15px; padding-right: 15px;">
<div>
<uc1:ctrlFileUpload ID="ctrlFileUpload1" runat="server" />
<uc2:ctrlImageGallery ID="ctrlImageGallery1" runat="server" />
</div>
<div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
In the Control File Upload I need to fire the the other ctrl to refresh the page.
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanelUploadArea" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional">
<ContentTemplate>
<span>
<asp:FileUpload ID="FileUpload1" runat="server" />
<br />
<asp:Button ID="UploadButton" runat="server" Text="Upload Now" OnClick="UploadButton_Click" />
<asp:Label ID="lblResult" runat="server" ForeColor="#0066FF"></asp:Label>
<br />
</span>
</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:PostBackTrigger ControlID="UploadButton" />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>...........
I have an UpdatePanel with a MultiView inside. I am using jQuery to call the server to run some logic and based on it, change the view in the MultiView. The problem is that the updatepanel is not getting refreshed.
My UpdatePanel:
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel2" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional" ChildrenAsTriggers="false">
This is my call to the server:
[code]....
When the page loads again, the multiview is not showing the assigned view.
I have noticed that the call to the server doesn't set Page.IsPostback = true, it remains false. Perhaps this is somehow related?
