had an tab control with more than 10 tabs, each tabs im using button but while button click event the Updateprogress not displaying, may i know the reason and how to solve it?

I need to write a single web page that checks the status of an SQL job, and allows the user to execute a new job if the job has a specific status.
I have the job status checking code working but have a problem when it comes to the execution of the next job. The problem is because as soon as ExecutNonQuery is run my code goes straight to the next line leaving SQL to do its own thing - therefore my UpdateProgress never shows. How do I get the UpdateProgress control is be aware that my Job is still running??
I also have a method called ReturnJobDetailStatus which I imagine I could use by continually checking it with a combination of the UpdateProgress control and a timer control? If so I cannot visualise how to achieve this?

How to implement progress bar on button click with message, for web application??

and tried to implement (inside article Method 2) it on button click, but message is not displaying after the processing completes.
Also i need to implement the progress bar inside "jquery" pop up.
This is an ASP.NET 3.5 app. The page has the following controls in this order: GridView with Select button enabled UpdatePanel, which containsA trigger pointing to the SelectedIndexChanged event of the GridView A child DetailsView that displays the record of the selected item in the GridViewUpdateProgressSelecting an item in the GridView triggers the UpdatePanel and the record displays in the DetailsView, as expected. However, since the GridView is outside of the UpdatePanel, the UpdateProgress doesn't display while the record is being retrieved. If the GridView is moved inside the UpdatePanel, everything works as expected but for several reasons it needs to be outside of the UpdatePanel for this app.
There are several articles about how to trigger the UpdateProgress display. Most involve using a button, which has an OnClientClick event, that can be used to trigger some javascript to change the display style of the UpdateProgress. Unfortunately, there is no client side event for the GridView so no way to trigger the javascript. Any ideas on how to display the UpdateProgress when a GridView item is selected? this is for just 1 updatepanel I have 6 updatepanel in my page how I can use UpdateProgress for all my update panel?
I have a webform that displays a panel through the ModalPopupExtender. This panel has a button that will start a lengthy process, so I have an UpdateProgress attached to the button in the panel.
How can I hide the panel (displayed through the ModalPopupExtender) so that I can then display UpdateProgress? Currently, Button_getName will display Step2Panel. Then clicking on Button2 will display UpdateProgress behind Step2Panel. I tried hiding the panel in Button2_Click with ModalPopupExtenderStep2.Hide, but it didn't do anything.

I have a webform that works the following way:
1. Button_openPanel will display panel Step2Panel through ModalPopupExtenderStep2.
2. Button_runThread (inside Step2Panel) will close Step2Panel and will then run a lengthy process server-side. This lengthy server-side process will cause the UpdateProgress control to be displayed.
Similar to the ModalPopup, I want to disable the whole page while the UpdateProgress control (with its animation gif) is running. Currently, the UpdateProgress is displayed, but I can click Button_openPanel (or anything else) which will cause the application to break.
Is this possible?

Everything's working pretty good now, but I need to disable everything while the time-consuming process is running and UpdateProgress is displayed.
I was thinking of displaying the UpdateProgress control as a a sort of ModalPopup, but I'm not sure if it's possible. If not, then the alternative would be to disable Button_openPanel while the time-consuming process is running and UpdateProgress is displayed.
I am using an Ajax tab control and it works, and displays fine in all browsers except Firefox 3.6. Does any have an idea what might be causing this?
View 12 RepliesI've got an issue where I'm unable to view Ajax controls within the Visual Studio toolbox section What makes this issue even more bizzare is that I'm able to view the controls of the .dll (AjaxControlToolkit.dll) in a test website. I can see Visual Studio iterate through the controls and add them to the tab in one project and absolutely nothing in the other. I've already checked to see if another tab has my controls and done multiple Toolbox resets. Obviously, I need consistency with this and for me to be able to easily add controls to my target website...Does anyone know why one VS2008 project displays controls correctly in one place but not in another project?
View 4 RepliesI have a web form with a modalpopupextender and a listView control that opens for editing and adding records. One of the columns on the listview is a linkbutton that makes a serve side call to show the modaldialpopupextender. At first, when clicking on the linkbutton in the listview the modalpopup displays over the listview, the page fades (via a CSS class) and it works great. When I open and close the listview for editing or change pages on the listview, and then try to show the modalpopup via the linkbutton, the modalpopup displays under the listview and the fading does not work properly. I am not too sure if this is a postback/javascript issue or maybe CSS?

The Images used for this control is not displaying in the browser, even though the control is getting loaded.
When i use the same code in the Aspx page it is working fine. It is only problem in Web User Control.
I am trying to use the GeneratedImage Control to display images. The images are retrieved from a data base and are stored im SQL Image format. Previously I displayed the images from an ASP.NET page serving the pictures and of course this is very slow. I have an interesting problem when using partial page update in asp.net with scriptmanager and a update panel.
My scenario looks like this: I'm using the tab control from the ajax toolkit. I also implemented this control using lazy loading, so that when the page is loaded only the current tab gets loaded all the other tabs don't get rendered, because Im using an UpdatePanel (on a .ascx control) on each of these tabs and when a tab gets selected the updatepanel makes a async postback to load the content for a selected tab.
On one of my tabs Im using a combobox control from obout.com, and it doesn't work. Now I know why it doesn't work. It doesn't work because the control is shown via a partial page refresh, but to correctly display the control it has to do some "magic" that is - register some .css and .js includes on the page (in the head I guess)....but because I load this control via async page refresh.
I'm using the AutoCompleteExtender control with a textbox. The control functions the way I want it to but I have one issue with it. When the page first loads I type something in the textbox and I get a list of suggestions from my database. When the list is quite big the vertical scroll bar appears on the right side of the browser window and the textbox is repositioned to the center of the page (I want the textbox to be centrally positioned and I'm using <center> tags). Unfortunately the AutoCompleteExtender list doesn't reposition and is misaligned. The same thing happens when the browser window is resized.
I've played around with CSS and OnClientShown and haven't managed to fix this. I'm currently using IE8.
I have a flash on my page and I need to popup an ajax window, I use ModalPopupExtender. The problem is that ajax popup window always shows behind the flash in Internet explorer and Google Chrome. In firefox there are no such problem.

Trying to display the UpdateProgress but the control is not being displayed, not sure if I have the JS portion correct. However, the "Alert" box is showing.
Since I have an external trigger control in the UpdatePanel, the AssociatedUpdatePanelID will not work and I have to handle the display of the UpdateProgress control programatically.

I have embedded all controls in Updatepanel control but upon selecting file in UploadFile control, Upon click of the button UpdateProgress text message does not work whereas without using Updatepanel it works very fine. Situation: I have a drop down list which I need to pass on to a webservice on button click. I am using Sys.Net.WebServiceProxy.Invoke to make webservice call.
Everything is happening inside a usercontrol which loads on runtime using dynamicpopulate extender.
I get following error:
Sys.InvalidOperationException: Cannot serialize object with cyclic reference within child properties.
Situation: Usercontrol also has a listview which is bound to dataset. However on calling listview.DataBind() in side the webservice method.
I get following error:
The ListView control 'ProductsListView' does not have a naming container. Ensure that the control is added to the page before calling DataBind.
There is no problem when call to service method is parameter less and listitem is not bound.
I use updatepanel and updateprogress in my project. Whenever I add updatepanel to a page, then I should add updateprogress too. Now I want to make a custom control that include both updatepanel and updateprogress. If there are any controls like this, give me its link. On other hands How to make a custom control likte that?
View 1 RepliesI am using the ASP.NET Ajax controls UpdatePanel and UpdateProgress. The idea of a the UpdateProgress control is to display a message while the page is performing a partial postback, then disappear when the postback completes. On Firefox and Internet Explorer, this happens correctly. However, on Safari and Chrome the UpdateProgress control remains visible after the postback completes. Is this a bug in the ASP.NET Ajax Framework, or is there another workaround?

View 5 RepliesIn my scenerio, i've a dropdownlistbox by which i want to filter, a textbox for the text to filter and two textbox for specifying from and to date.
A gridview control for displaying the filtered data and a sqldatasource control and a commandbutton called search.
The following code is used to filter the data in database and it works properly. But when i click on edit in gridview, the gridview displays no records and again when i click on search button the data is displayed on the gridview displayed with the selected row in editmode.
