i am trying to make a pop-up messsage box, using popupControlExtender. Such extender will be inside a web user control but the target control will be outside the user control instead. Could anyone tell me how i can do it ?
I don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.
If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically. What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?
I have one User Control ,which is added in to another user control. My First User control define propwerty to populate user control. It working fine if used in page. But now i have problem ,i have to add this control in to another user control. i have added that as we do to add user control ,but am not able to pass the value to that first control from my page.
I am using the below example code and have a problem where I can't pass the Request.RawUrl value into an object that extends the Control object (class Test below). When I use the line:
the string value "<%= Request.RawUrl %>" is passed to the Target property.I need to get the value of Request.RawUrl passed to the Target Property of my Test control object. Does anyone have any ideas where I am going wrong?Control:
How can I get all the textboxes inside a create user wizard control using getElementsByTagName().
Below is my JQuery code:
[Code]....
The above code isn't displaying hint text when the textbox retreives focus.
I think there is something wrong with this getElementsByTagName("asp:TextBox"); , I have also tried getElementsByTagName("TextBox"); , getElementsByTagName(":textbox"); and getElementsByTagName("input"); .
But no one of them gets the textboxes array.
Can anyone tell what will be the correct syntax for getting all the textboxes inside a create user wizard control using getElementsByTagName()?
Two separate questions, but sufficiently intertwined that I'm going to try the two together....
Firstly - User Controls and Behaviours
I have a User Control which contains a few visual controls. I am attaching some behaviours by using GetScriptDescriptors and am passing some JavaScript to the browser using GetScriptReferences. That is all rock solid and working well. However, when developing, I did discover that I couldn't attach the ehaviours to the User Control itself - not surprising as rendering a User Control does not create a DOM element which represents the actual control. So, I have attached my behaviours to a "random" TextBox within the User Control.
So - first question, is there a better way to do that? For example, should I always be rendering a SPAN as an element to surround the control? Not sure what that would do to the robustness of the rendering. What is the right way to attach a behaviour to a User Control.
Secondly - Accessing those same Behaviours later
Assume I have placed a User Control on the page. That User Control exposes a Property (actually a Javascript Function of course) which does "something" to the control - for the sake of example we'll say that the function is set_Border(colour). I then have a behaviour on the same page (actually an Extender on a different control) which needs to call the function. I have a reference to the User Control in my script, so I have tried TheControlReference.set_Border('red') and find that my control doesn't support the set_Border method.
I guess this is probably because the behaviours are not attached to the User Control itself, but to a GUI element within it. Hence, I suspect that the answer to the second question lies within the answer to the first.
Basically I want to call a user control from a master page. However, I need to pass an object (a List of objects to be more specific), to the user control. I'm generating the list of objects in the Page_Load of the master page. Here's the line in my master page that calls the user control.
This user control has a parameter called CalendarItems that accepts the list of items. However, if I try to set this inside of the Page_Load method, my control executes before the Page_Load and throws an exception saying CalendarItems is null. Is there any way around this?
EDIT: I have a drop down list on this page that determines what the list of CalendarItems is so when I populate the CalendarItems list I need to be able to read the selected value from the drop down list.
In Asp.net Web forms why must a user control be partial? I tried to remove the partial keyword and it says: Missing partial modifier on declaration of type 'test'; another partial declaration of this type exists Where is the other declaration?I am trying to pass a generic type with the user control how can I do that? I can't unless I change the other declaration too. I couldn't find it so I removed the partial keyword.Note: you do have 3 files if your making WebApplication but if your making website you only get 2 files? UserControl.ascx UserControl.ascx.cs so in website where is the other declaration?the reason i want generic is because im making a Grid User Control so i want to pass the type the datasource is going to have.
In my default.aspx page I have a PlaceHolder control within an UpdatePanel. In this placeholder control I will dynamically load a web user control, which is just a form with a submit button. On this user control, I have the form within an update panel and I have the "Submit" button's Click Event added to the triggers.
When I submit the form, the UpdatePanel on the web user control nor the update panel on the default.aspx page are capturing the post back, thus causing a full post back which refreshes my page.
how to capture this post so its rendered in Ajax and not a full post back?
I need to create a user control which will be loaded according to the selected value of a dropdownlist. The Dropdownlist is not the part of Control. I want to pass the value of selected value of dropdonwlist to my user control and the user control will load according to the Value. For not postback it work fine. But when the page is postback, that is when i select a item form dorpdownlist, the user control is not loaded.
is it possible to pass a collection of arraylist to javascript for ajax control toolkit extender..??if it possible, how to do it...? and how to retrieve it ..?let say i have this code..
[ExtenderControlProperty] [DefaultValue("")] public ArrayList array
I have the following jQuery event that gets fired every time an anchor is clicked. How can I pass a asp.net control (lets say a panel called "pnl_info") as one of the parameters, in addition to the "target" parameter i'm already passing?
I am developing a user control. This user control is having 2 Dropdown controls and one textbox('txtCustomer'). I am using autocompleteextender for the text box. This 'txtCustomer' control populates the data based on the value selected in 2 dropdowns.
I need to pass the selected value of this 2 dropdown to my meb method. I am not using web service(.asmx page) for this application instead i am using page level web method. I tried to access the controls from the web method inside the Page. but all the identifiers and controls of the page returning null in the web mothod. I have analysed it is because the events "page_Load and page_Init" are not getting fired.
In a GridView, I am using ItemTemplate section for multiple editing. I am using ClientValidationFunction property of MaskedEditExtender to run a client side function. Let's call it MyClientFunction . How can I pass an ID of a control found in the gridview row to my MyClientFunction?
I know how to do it via RowDataBound as follows: Is there a way to wire it up in ClientValidationFunction property?
Dim NewDte As TextBox Dim PrvDte As Label NewDte = CType(e.Row.FindControl("EditReadingDate"), TextBox) PrvDte = CType(e.Row.FindControl("lblEditLstRdgDte"), Label) NewDte.Attributes.Add("onkeyup", "javascript:ChkDteMultiple('" & PrvDte.ClientID & "')")
I've got a web site that has a master page and that master page (mpMaster that has a user control ucControl1) which has a sub user control (ucControl2), this user control has a property which accepts a value. Now, I have a page that uses the master page and on this page I have another user control (ucPageControl), I need to find a way of setting the value in ucControl2 from ucPageControl. Is this possible at all?
I am trying to assign user control from another user control ..first time its binding control successfully but when we refresh the data its giving error

I have a web user control that represents a simple message box. It is used to display simple messages like "Item has been deleted", or "The item was saved successfully".
On the other hand, I have another web user control that represents the item in the form of an editable form (I made this a user control because this is used in two different pages). I want to embed an instance of the message box user control inside the editable form. I am writing this right after the @Control directive:
[Code]....
Instead of using @Register directives, I register the user controls in web.config and so far this has worked just fine.
With the above markup, the project compiles, but whenever I try to navigate to a page that contains this construct, I get an HttpParseException exception. Furthermore, Visual Studio states that the tack w7rc9:MessageBox doesn't represent a known control.
