AJAX :: Trying To Get A Page Working Using A Tab Container And Multiple Tabs?
Apr 26, 2010
I'm trying to get a page working using a tab container and multiple tabs. So, I created a new blank page and pointed it to my master page. The master page has two content panels within it.
I'm adding the tab container in the top conent holder, but when I go to view the page, I get an error. Below is the error followed by the code.
The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>).

I have a web page with two tabs, "Release Inventory" and "Recreate Pull Sheet". I am using a tab container and tab panels. It looks fine in the design view but as soon as I view it in a brower the tabs don't show up. All I see is the Header text for the tabs. It looks like this:
"Release InventoryRecreate Pull Sheet"
You can click "Release Inventory" or "Recreate Pull Shee" and you will see the information in the tabs, but the actual tab appearance is not showing up.
I have a page with 4 fixed Tabs. Tabs 1 and 2 are always in position 1 and 2. However, the users are allowed to create their own tabs and add their own html content. I do this by creating a new tab in codebehind and inserting it into the tabcontainer AFTER the frist 2 and before the last 2 tabs. There could be several of these. EX: "F1 | F2 | U1 | U2 | U3 | F3 | F4" where F is a fixed tab and U is a custom tab.
As long as ALL tabs are visible then everything works fine after postbacks.
Based on user settings I sometimes hide fixed tab 1. Everything loads fine the first time. However, on postback The content on fixed tab 4 (always the last tab) is displayed on the bottom of EVERY tab (fixed or custom). It is still displayed in fixed tab 4.
A little background on the code:
Since the tabs are added dynamically they do not exist on postback and must be re-generated every time. This is done in Page_LoadComplete. I have tried it on PageLoad and it behaves the same way.
If I do not re-generate the pages on post back then the problem goes away - as do the custom tabs.
The only thing I could find was from last year, and was supposedly fixed (http://www.codeplex.com/AjaxControlToolkit/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=16321
I have been adding different JQuery Carousels to AJAX Tabbed Panels - the first one displayed on the page always works. But any other tabs dont work when I select the tab. I have about a dozen different carousels.
Can anyone recommend one that works in AJAX Tabs or how I can go about rectifying this?
I'm running into a weird issue.. Basically, a user logs into a page and based on his role status(admin or user) determines how many tabs he sees in a tabcontainer. If he is just a "user" then tab index 0 and 1 need to be hidden because they contain admin only functionality.
However the problem is if I set more than 1 tab index to visible = false the entire container disappears. Could this be a bug? I know you can only have one tab visible at a time.
I have a tab container in aspx page and i want to enable disable the last tab in aspx page my tab container is like below
[Code]....
Now for disabling the last tab i used the following in code behind page load:
//tabAdvanceSettings.Enabled = false;
I also want to enable this tab panel on client side when a user uses a shotrcut like Ctrl + Shif + A as shown below but this shortcut only enables the tab not the two user controls ptresent in the last tab. The code for enabling the last tab is :
I have a problem doing a partial page post back with an update panel within a tab container.
I am adding the control programmatically as follows

The controls are added to the tab container but the button now causes a full page postback. The button_click event is no longer called. Is there something I am missing here.
I'm having asp.net ajax tab container in a datalist control with 4 tab panels. I set ActiveTabIndex to 0 on .aspx page, and using OnActiveTabChanged event in code behind, when the tab container tab index is changed, server side event is not working, when i debug the code, i can see the event is getting fired, even though i click the third tab, i'm getting Active TabIndex "0" only.
<cc1:tabcontainer id="TabContainer1" runat="server" AutoPostBack="true" Font-Names="Calibri" ActiveTabIndex="0" Width="710px" CssClass="yui" align="left" OnActiveTabChanged="TabContainer1_ActiveTabChanged"> Server Side Code:

I need to load data only when tab index changes, this way i can reduce burden on whole page.
but when I added the bar graph, the first chart appears but does not show the lines and the second graph is not displayed at all ... Is it possible to put 2 chart like that ?
i have to use two different Ajaxfileupload controls in a page .But when i upload file through second control the second event doesnot get fired(UploadComplete) everytime first event is fired.
I am trying to use tab control with Ajax toolkit. I want to use my master page which is plain page and I want to show the tab function of gridview. I want to give the tab control only the gridview page partically on master page. If it is possible, I am going to put other gridview at this page. That means tab control ONLY gridview. Is it possible?
I have sqldatabase tables.I am reading table data and putting in a tabconatiner(wth tabs containing textbox, checkbox etc) specific to a client. If a client has more than one row i want to iterate through the rows and read each row data. Basically I want to use a button-click to read the next row data at put it in the tabs and so on. I used sqldatareader and a while loop.I can read the data but while loop iterates through the rows and show the last row data / i want to use a button to go to the next row and show data.
SqlDatareader reader=null; reader=cmd.ExecuteReader(); while(reader.Read()) { txtboxName.Text=reader["Name"].ToString(); } protected button_Click(Object sender,EventsArgs e) { //I want to read row data in this button click }
I have an ajax toolkit tabcontainer that used to work ok. It has three tabPanels and I can work correctly with the content inside them.
Now I'm trying to add some new tabPanels but I face a problem.
The first time the page is loaded I see all the new tabs. If I make any postback due to any control interaction, the new panels are still visible, but when I move to another page and go back to the page with the tabContainer, I only see my three original tabs.
I have to close the web server (the one coming with visual studio) to be able to see again all my tab panels
I've added a new tabContainer and is the same. The first time I load the page I see everything, but the following times I only see my original three tabPanels inside my first tabContainer (the new tabContainer is not seen at all).
How can you perform page navigation with Jquery tabs without the ajax events firing? Following the tutorial, I added
$("#tabs").tabs({ select: function (event, ui) { var url = $.data(ui.tab, 'load.tabs'); if (url) { location.href = url; return false; } return true; } });
And I added hrefs to the tabs going to other pages. The problem is, I have ajax used on the page and onload it posts to the url with an ajax call. I was hoping to disable ajax altogether for the tabs and just use them for straight navigation so I can leverage the styles.
I have a page with a AJAX Tabcontainer. In that page/tab is a link to another page. On the other page (no AJAX Tabcontainer there) a user can fill in some information and a button there triggers a WebMethod. When the WebMethod is successfully executed my javascript method (The one then gets triggered after the WebMethod is finished) redirects (window.location = ..aspx) back to the aspx page that contains the AJAX Tabcontainer.
i seen ajax tab container... got answer also but it working fine in normal page if i add that to aspx page which is attached with master page it is not working properly.. means tab are coming horizontaly instead of vertical
Does Ajax Tab support using sub tabs (or children tabs)?I have a project where I need to show several tabs like "Sales" "Production" "Revenue" and when I click on for example "Sales" I would like to see a new tab tab with "Currentales", "History", "Comparison" etc etc. and be able to click each one of these for further processing.
First DataGrid contain 2 page and 10 records per page
Second DataGrid contain 5 page and 10 records per page
When i click 3rd page of second DataGridthe following error occur
"Invalid CurrentPageIndex value. It must be >= 0 and < the PageCount."
public partial class Admin_Over_all_report : System.Web.UI.Page { Dataconnection dc = new Dataconnection(); protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (IsPostBack == false) { bind();
I am a bit confused on how ASP.NET session works with my site, when a user opens up the site in multiple browsers, and/or multiple tabs. I see that after logging in with IE, i can open a new tab and not have to log in, and that if I log out of one tab, the other one will redirect to login after I try to do something. I also notice that if I log in with IE, i still have to log in with FF. My question - are session data shared between all of these sessions?
I have a page where I display ASP.NET charts. There are two types of charts and I felt the need to separate them to some extent which I did by using a submenu which looks like this:
Charts > Goals Charts > Reconciliation Charts
Clicking on either of the two chart links will take you to the same Charts.aspx page, but with the query string "Goals" or "Reconciliation" respectively. On the page load of the Charts.aspx page, I receive the query string into a session variable and create the correct charts based on that value. All of this works fine.
The problem I'm experiencing occurs when I open up a new tab in IE/Firefox. Here is the series of events I'm experiencing:
- In the original tab, I will click on the "Goals Charts" hyperlink which loads the Charts.aspx page with "Goals" as the charts type session value. The other controls on the page needed to produce "Goals" charts (eg. drop down lists, etc) are displayed correctly ie. the "Goals" version. At this point, I haven't done anything in this tab except for loading the Charts.aspx page from the "Goals Charts" link.
- In the original tab, I right click the "Reconciliation Charts" link and opt to open in a new tab (I just tested and the same thing appears to be working if you opt to open in a new window as well). When the new tab loads the Charts.aspx page, it loads with the query string "Reconciliation" which it stores in the session variable. So at this point I would expect to have two different, independent tabs: the original tab on the "Goals Charts" track and the second tab on the "Reconciliation Charts" track.
- This is where the problem occurs. I would expect the original tab/window to create a "Goals" chart when I make a selection using the other controls and I would expect the second tab/window to create a "Reconciliation" chart. The problem, however, is that when I go back to the original tab/window - the one which should be a "Goals" chart and which should have "Goals" stored in the session value - when I proceed to create a chart, it's a Reconciliation chart that is created.
Somehow, even though I'm in a different tab or window and I am navigating the site seemingly independently of the other tab/window, it seems to be carrying the most recently populated value from the session variable for both tabs/windows.
