I am developing a web application in Visualt Studio 2008. I have a data access layer that is automatically generated using Visual Studio. After publising my site to IIS and tested it for several hours, two exceptions occured:

The connection string is stored in the data access layer in Properties.Settings and has not changed.Does anyone have a clue why these exceptions occur and how i can avoid them?

I am a beginner in using Asp.NET with C# and it is my first time I am trying to establish a connection with an SQL server 2005 database: Here is my simple code to connect to the sql server database,I am getting the text message set in the label. Is my problem in the connectionString ??? how to write it and ow to get the server name and write it correctly ....or how to specify the database name (all path or just database name??)
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection("server = Saher;Database=Database.mdf;integrated security = true");
try{
connection.Open();
}
catch{
lblMessage.Text = "COULDN'T CONNECT to Stupid database";
}finally{
connection.Close();
}

As mentioned in this tutorial (http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/5-working-with-data), I tried using my own connectionstring from web.config.
I got this error: "Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 0."
The tutorial suggests to use: Database.OpenConnectionString("SmallBakeryConnectionString") method
Instead you should use Database.Open("ConnectionStringName").
Ref: http://cytanium.com/forums/yaf_postsm18_Connection-string-problem.aspx
The API Document is missing Database.Open method and also Database.OpenConnectionString info needs to be modified.

I've got a class that create a report in a PDF - looks like this
Code:
Option Explicit On
Imports PdfSharp
Imports PdfSharp.Drawing
Imports PdfSharp.Pdf
Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Public Class acsReportWriter
[Code] ...
And I access this class from within a web service call like this
Code:
Using acsRpt As New ACSReport.acsReportWriter
acsRpt.StartDocument(strViewName, strTitle, username)
Using dcn As New SqlConnection(connStr)
Using cmd As New SqlCommand
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
[Code] ....
So - in that web service I can access APPLICATION like this
Code:
With Application
.Lock()
' need to do work here
.UnLock()
End With
I need to be able to access APPLICATION from the acsReportWriter class to put status message every so often so another AJAX POST can fid out how many pages are done.
I'm having a hard time even adding IMPORTS to SYSTEM.WEB in the acsReportWriter class

I have to automate one database process in .Net web applicaiton which uses Oracle 11g Database as Backend.
I need to know two things:
(1) How to check space on Oracle database server? I need space on server and not in the Database itself. My process creates few tables so I want to make sure that we have sufficient space before the process starts.
(2) Also I need to create script to backup Indexes and Triggers on the table so that I can recreate them after data transfer process is completed. Any idea how to create script form c# code?

I have a drive 'F' with 40G free space. I try to restore a database whose data + log file size is 60G.
The restore fails. Is it because a full restore needs free disk space of 60G in this case?

Is there anything missing in IIS 6.0 that prevents me from (Insert into table) using MS-Access?
Explain: The application works fine under Visual Studio 2008 IDE the insert into table works fine with no error, Also I tested with hosting provider and works fine with no problem. but now I have published the same exact app in a dedicated server windows 2003 with
IIS 6.0 .NET framework 2.0 with latest service pack I gave IIS_WPG write/modify access to the folder where MS-Access database is located and database but at the time of insert an error pop-up. I need to install in the Server or settings in the IIS to recognize my MS-Access db is it some office runtime that I am missing. (BTW I am using OLEDB connection string in my C# )
Using System.Data.OleDb;
I can retrieve data off of it with no problem but when I try to insert is when it fails I thought the problem was Access Rights but I do not think is the case.

I have a problem with DataSet.GetXml() in ASP.NET 4.0:
First I populate the dataset with some tables.
Then I run the .GetXml() method on the dataset and some XML is returned. The output of this method is not want I want it to be, however.
The desired result is this:
[code]....
How do I stop this from happening? I mean, how do I stop the cell from being included at all?
In ASP.NET 1.1 the same code is used and the desired output is returned. This means that it is probably some new thing in 4.0 that I have to switch on/off. But what?

I have to display data (names) in a random order on the website. The data is stored in a MS Access database. The names must be displayed in a GridView and DataList in different places. I have created a query in MS Access "zorder: Rnd([MarinaAccommodation]![ID])" which works fine in MS Access giving me a different order each time.
The problem is that when I try run it on the website the order remains the same, it does not change each time the page is loaded.

I have a situation where I am accessing a database multiple times and I'm wondering if it is necessary.
I have a GridView with a template column with a hyperlink to "Get Results" and on the RowDataBound event I have it check the batch number against the database and see if results exist and then if they don't, hide the link.
So when viewing the page if there is 20 rows in the gridview it is effectively doing 20 queries.
I was wondering if it is a better idea to query the database once with all "batches" and load it into a datatable, then on the RowDataBound event query the datatable. The only issue I see with this is there is currently 40,000 batches and grows daily.

I have a data type mismatch while inserting into a number field in an access database using a parameterized query.I think this should be pretty simple but I am still learning a lot.
[Code]....
I have some commented out as I am working one field at a time. The working fields are textboxes and the non working ones are dropdown lists. But I think it may be the field that the list is drawing from? Not sure.
