How would you handle an INSERT that gets some values from another table using SELECT, where you wanted some values to come from the source table record and other values to come from a different parameter source like a session value? Is this possible?

The output of the select statement and the table I'm going to transfer the data to has the same number of rows. Should I put it first in a temporary table? This column shouldn't allow nulls also.

View 7 RepliesI need to execute a stored procedure and show the value it returns as a usertype column in a selection list. Eventually this select statment will be converted into a stored procedure, so basically the stored procedure will be called in another stored procedure. I can't quite get the syntax correct. I am showing a simplified version of a very long query so it's easy to understand. It gives me the 'Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'CREATE' error. The capitalized the code produces the error:

My students are working on an ASP.net VB application for a Web Programming competition and we are having problems with a page where we want an URL string to return all values from our database. Here is the page: [URL] If you use the jobs by category menu on the left side, if you select a job category (ie retail) it will pull up all the jobs from that category. By using a query in the URL like this: [URL] What we need is an option that would pull up all of the records regardless of category. So we made a menu option that passes the value "all". Like this: [URL] We use this information for the dataset we created (we're using Dreamweaver, ASP.net VB and and Access Dbase). We made a dataset SQL as follows:

This works fine if a value is passed. For example if "retail" is picked from the menu it passes the value just fine and returns all jobs that have "retail" as the job category in the database. My problem is, how do I modify the above Select statement to show all jobs in the database if the value "all" is passed for the jobcategory. My first thought was to create an If statement that says something to the effect of:

have a very important issue,i have three Stored Procedures Sp1,Sp2 and Sp3 .the first one (Sp1) will execute the second one (Sp2) and save returned data into @tempTB1 and the Second one will execute the third one (Sp3) and save data into @tempTB2.if I execute the Sp2 it will works and it will returned me all my data from the Sp3 ,but the problem is in the Sp1, when i execute it it will display this Error:INSERT EXEC statement cannot be nested I tried to change the place of execute Sp2 and it display me another error:Cannot use the ROLLBACK statement within an INSERT-EXEC statement.

The issue I have is that I want to Select some more data (another SELECT query) but with a different Where clause e.g. WHERE (BSFLBWF_1.KPIx NOT LIKE 'KPI%' OR
BSFLBWF_1.KPIx NOT LIKE 'Proactive%') AND (BSFLBWF_1.Availabilityx LIKE '')
The problem is that this WHERE clause returns data which the above in bold has null values for (and thus doesnt work). Im still selecting the same data its just the WHERE Clause has changed. Is it possible to run such a query? If so, can it be done via a sub query?
I have a SELECT query which grabs data from two different tables however when I run the query the CurrentCallOwner often pulls up the same name twice albeit with a different SLAFailed value. What I am trying to do is bind those two values into one. I thought that running a subquery and using a count would solve this however I all receive are a bunch ones. Do you know how I could bind those values into a single value (i.e. add them up?)

I am trying to create a multi column listbox by combining fields in Linq select statement, as Let Name = Last + First. The problem is how to pad the Last column with spaces as you would in SQL using REPLICATE so when I bind the listbox to the data, it looks like two columns.

How can I use "Max_ID" as my DefaultValue? So that basically if the page gets passed without a parameter, the SQL will use the Max(ID) as a default. Can I use Max_ID as a DefaultValue?

I'm working on an ecommerce project that is missing 5,000 product pictures.
I am trying to assign all products without pictures into a category located on a mapping table.
I know an insert can be accomplished from one table (or subquery) to another but I only need to find the product IDs and insert them with default values into the category mapping table that has all non-null columns.
The following code is the farthest I can get without help (I'm not strong in SQL), it won't work because my subquery returns many rows while the SQL statement is designed to insert one - I don't know how to handle this...
