that works fine. but while using MSaccess and the datatype for of some table is Memo than how could I use parameter for that i am using System.Data.Odbc. cos here it is easy to do SqlDbType.Nvarcha cos there is shows Nvarchar but not Memo
my webserver is in the DMZ. The Database in the intranet. For connection from webserver to database the following entry is made in the odbc connection "TCPIP BCAST=NO;HOST=Intranet.Firma.local,Intranet_Spiegel.Firma.local,Intranet_Arbiter.Firma.local;PORT=2639}"
how to get this options in the connection strings working, or how i must modify the entitiy framework connection string to use the odbc entry?
I am using ODBC command and adding parameters to it. But it always keeps on saying procedure proc_Update expects a parameters @id which was not supplies ( this errors comes for all the paramters that I add).
I am currently making a website on asp.net and i am creating methods using TableAdapter. I am connected to MySql using an ODBC connection. The select * from department will work perfectly for me but when trying to use parameters i am given an error message on the wizard. select * from department where name = @name gives me the error: Error in where clause near '@' unable to parse query text. also tried select * from department where name = ?: this gives me the error: No mapping exists from dbTypeObject to a known Odbc type.
I am with GoDaddy (yeah, yeah, don't want to hear it) and must use ODBC to connect to my MySQL database. The connections are working fine but I have a GridView/DetailsView parent/child relationship set up between 3 pages. I know that these pages worked with a .NET Connector locally but after I changed them to ODBC, I only get the first part of the page, nothing that depends on data being selected works. This has led me to believe that I must alter the way I pass parameters to the next request page. I have read some things about using a question mark but I cannot figure out how I should apply it to my page as most examples are in C# or VB. My page is mostly pure ASP.NET and I'm not sure if I still continue to utilize the asp:ControlParameter. the code below.
how to get GoDady to alter their medium trust to accept sockets???? That's all it would take
This is the page my employees will use to view the people in the database and then select them and have a details view of that particular cust_code (customer code) pop up to the right of the gridview:
[Code]....
This is the page ( UpdatePrefCustomers.aspx ) that my employees, who will be allowed access it (yes, I already know how to apply authorization but will do it last before deployment so it doesn't drive me crazy when I preview in browser), will use to add, edit, and delete from the database. It must be accessed first and the other two pages, prefcust_edit.aspx and prefcust_insertt.aspx are called from it by passing the parameter cust_code:
when i specify values in my update query the query works fine and the database gets updated, but when i use parameters in my query the database does not update here is the code i have written
I am trying to make connection to a remote database server and I am getting the following message. I think i have to grant access to the client maching from my database server.. How do i grant access to an ip addess?
ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Access denied for user 'thelp'@'123.29.14.30' (using password: YES) ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Access denied for user 'thelp'@'123.29.14.30'(using password: YES)
I have a page 3 datacontrols (in order, datalist->grid->listview, the selection from one feeds into the next) works perfectly locally, using dot net connector for mysql. My webhost uses ODBC, and I had to remove [ ] from the select statements in my code and put the table names. I removed the [ ] 's and my page runs, and my 1st/datalist control shows but now my "selected value" of my datalist, doesn't populate my grid control. I imagine theres another peculiarity with the way odbc handles parameters. Here is my original, for my grid:
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="recipegrid" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:exoticingConnectionString %>" ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:exoticingConnectionString.ProviderName %>" SelectCommand="SELECT [Id], [Name], [Cal], [Pro], [Fat], [Carb], [Fiber], [Chol], [Sod] FROM [tblrecipes] WHERE ([filenameid] = @filenameid) ORDER BY [name]"> <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="DataList1" Name="filenameid" PropertyName="SelectedValue" Type="Int32" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:SqlDataSource>
example of changes to select that allowed my page to run again: SelectCommand="SELECT tblrecipes.Id, tblrecipes.Name, tblrecipes.Cal, tblrecipes.Pro, tblrecipes.Fat, tblrecipes.Carb, tblrecipes.Fiber, tblrecipes.Chol, tblrecipes.Sod FROM tblrecipes WHERE tblrecipes.filenameid = @filenameid ORDER BY tblrecipes.name">
BTW, I also tried removing my scriptmanager & updatepanel,, and using autopostbacks instead in my controls, jik, and nothing changed so I put it back.
Iam using the DBconnection object through out my applicationI use the same as a singleton objectWhen more operations are performed on the single objectit throws an error ERROR [HY001] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot open any more tables. But it occurs only some timesHow to solve this? Can any property can be set to avoid this type of error.Or can i overload and write any method to avoid thisTo Identify the same i wrote some Poc and tried alsoLike opening the connection object and looping through 1000 times and creating a command object for the connection and running a query. Some times iam getting the exception and some times its running
so I have a web programming assignment for university where I'm building a website that uses an Access database but I have hit a brick wall with something.I'm using parameterized queries to query my database. For one of my queries, I want to be able to take a bunch of parameters that are optional, and if they aren't needed I'll pass in a value of null and I'd like the part of the where clause relevant to them to evaluate to true. This is straightforward in most databases, from my understanding you could do something like to make param1 an optional parameter.
WHERE ((@param1 = ARandomColumnName) OR (@param1 = null))
However this can't be done using Access, as all parameters in a query are represented by a ?. Every ? is assumed to refer to a different parameter, so if you want to use a parameter more than one (like the above code I wrote does) then you'd have to pass it twice. This seems hacky to meSo what do I do? I have spent *hours* googling and banging my head on the desk. I'll cry if I missed something really obvious
I want to set ASP.net custom validator error parameter text through client side javascript. How can access it via sender, args parameters in my function?
Im getting error: No value given for one or more required parameters. in following code. I checked the code n found that if i remove cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("PERIOD", period); from code and [period] = ? from command text, everything works fine. I am not getting what is wrong with period.
In my application if I get an exception I catch it and send stackTrace through email. I also need the values of parameters passed to this function. I can get the names of function and parameters using MethodBase class of System.Reflection.
I am a newbie to ASP.NET (but not to C#)I have a project I am developing that may seem unconventional at this point but it is a project that I hope to eventually expand and provide a new type of service on the internet. Currently the project makes use of an Excel spreadsheet that is generated by another application I wrote. Basically the spreadsheet is an index to a specific type of file that exists on a host computer and the files are directly linked from within the excel document. When the link is clicked it opens the file using the operating system default program which then processes the file (this takes some time).
This is fine and dandy but when I click on another file, the default program immediately stops processing one file and opens the latest submission and thus interrupting the previous job. To prevent this I am now writing a queuing application. Here is where ASP.NET comes in. I do not want the link to open the queuing application with the file to add into the queue as a parameter because that pops one or more nnoying/scary "you are opening an executable" dialogs and because I want to be able to access the queuing service from a remote computer, and possibily in the future over the web. Instead I am trying to use an ASP.NET service application that will accept the name of a file as a parameter, access the external queue class (defined in an external dll of which only one universal instance is allowed), and add the request to the queue. Whether or not the table is an excel table or on a web page, using a form in this instance is tedious, not only for me but for a user. I want the user to be able to simply click on an html link and have the file be queued without anything except maybe a confirmation page pop up saying that the file has been queued and it will take x amount of time before the file is finished processing.
My problem is I cannot for the life of me find a way to do this. I have searched the interenet for over a week now looking for a way to call a "WebMethod" using a link and I am getting the impression that it cannot be done. Even when I use a form and try to have the form pass a string (representing the file name) as its "action" it comes up with an application error saying that I am missing the parameter I am trying to pass. Here are some examples of what I have tried:Here an example method I would try to access:
[Code]....
Here is an example of how I tried to access directly by way of a link (which results in an application error: InvalidOperationException)"
Getting the message that ObjectDataSource ... count not find a non-generic method ... that has parameters ... The parameter list is fine until I get to the very end and it list the two data fields that are in my DetailsView. Using the ASP Tutorial #17 (Examining the Events Associated with Inserting, Updating, and Deleting) and the Exploring the Data Modification - specifically the one showing the INSERT of the Product Name and UnitPrice. ASPX page is pretty simple and attempting something similar, two fields to insert a new record - update the other fields later.
Full Error Message follows along with ASPX and the AsignaturasBLL.cs. Interesting thing is that when I swap the two fields in the DetailView, then the last two fields in the error message are swapped. In the error message I bolded these two fields.
I fear this has been beaten to death, but I'm still struggling with the problem of reading Excel files in my ASP.NET application that has recently been ported to Server 2008 and 64-bit.Many posts I find point to the existence of 64-bit Microsoft drivers here:here and here. My concern is the warnings I'm also reading about these not intended "As a replacement for the Jet OLEDB Provider in server-side applications" possibly for thread-safe reasons? This IS a server-side application and while Excel uploads aren't hundreds-of-times-a-day ocurrances, they will be done by customers.I know there are also commercial libraries available and while I'm opening to considering them I do worry about the 'revision chase' and not getting burned by them going belly-up (it has happened to us before).
I'm thinking the problem here is with my SQL Syntax, but I'm not sure and need a fresh pair of eyes to check it out. This is the code I'm using to connect to and then insert into the DB:
I created a DSN to the database, which is hosted on my machine. When I run the application I get this error:
ERROR [42000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.1.51-community]You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'key, secretkey, uid) VALUES ('127090765-i3aZl71LPSVUCPZs9kHSYeBli0vWpbq0BaM1roYC' at line 1
But for the life of me I can't figure out what's wrong with my syntax...It's prolly something simple, but again, I need a pair of fresh eyes to look at this.
I have been developing my ASP.NET web pages to access the SQL database locally on my personal computer while using a "SqlConnection", but to access my SQL database on a host server, I must use a "OdbcConnection". I am mostly using LINQ to access data with a DataClassesDataContext, but sometimes I must use ADO with SqlConnection and SqlCommand. What must I do to convert my C# code in order to access data with ODBC 3.51?
I would like to connect oracle via ODBC. I downloaded the dll and add as reference.
Here is the sample code:
Dim cn As OdbcConnectioncn = New OdbcConnection("PROVIDER=MSDAORA; DATA SOURCE=aaa; USER ID=aaa; PW=aaa;") But getting this error "ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified"
I am working on an asp webform that pulls from an ODBC datasource then puts the data in an sql server. Once the data is in the sql server several queries pull data from it to provide information for a report.
This is an example of what I am talking about private void ODBCpdEmployeeAb()
{ [code].....
The first part gets the data from the ODBC connection and the next part stores it in an sql server table.
I have set the primary keys on my SQL server tables already but it just loads an error page now when the app runs due to duplicate id's
Is there a way to append the most recent data from the ODBC table to the sql server ?
When I want to get the output values its okay but I also want returning a table as a result data. But Datareader has no rows.is it possible if I want a returning query result and multiple output values togather ?I wrote a test above.I can get output values as sqlparameters. But Datareader attached to a Gridview is empty.can you detect whats wrong here and it doesnt return a query result. So stored procedure is not standart or ı am doing something wrong.this doesnt raise any exception.but not returning any data.
