Access :: Uploading Photo To Webform Using Vb.net?
Apr 4, 2010
i am designing a webform like registration form containing photo uploading.
my registration page is completed but photo upload is not wiorking.
and when a user completes
his registration including photo upload, and login next time it should be redirect to that page containg his information (all the registration page information with photo)
My other half has asked me to knock up a website for her which I have but there is a need for an upload control. I need people to be able upload photos. I need a control to bring up a browse box. Allow them to select multiple files from their computer and hit ok then upload those images to my server (not for viewing just to upload.
I will be creating a webform that will require online application and sending/uploading of resume that will later be forwarded to an e-mail address (the resume will be an email attachment). I badly need some tips on this! Really new at these things. I will be using VB to code the web form.
in asp.net i want the user to chose a photo to upload from their HD . then i want the uploaded photo displayed and an hyperlink option to save or reject this photo. if accepted the filename will be stored in a DB.
the problem is displaying the photo before it has been saved.
I display strFileName which works on my PC but not on my laptop.
I'm not getting much help from the security group so I'm goign to post it here.Basically, I like to use Integrated Windows authentication so that I can authenticate all users who are at my company to access my web application in the browser. Each user resides on different domains and some are on the same.
So in order to authenticate them, the first thing I would do is to add them to my web root's security tab? I assume this is the virtual directory folder of which the web application (default.aspx, etc.) runs on the Windows 2003 web server? So I give each user a read security permission to access the folder? (which would mean that they can then access the web application?)
Is my understanding of this correct? Therefore, If i don't add users to the security tab of the virtual folder, then other users will be rejected by the browser?
Next, assuming I want them to log on as a Network Service user, and not impersonate any other user or impersonate as themselves such as LABob (domainuser) and instead just be NT AuthorityNetwork Service, I would set impersonation to false and I would also set anonymous access in IIS to false.I want to set up the fastest/easiest way to add users/remove users to access my application and be able to authenticate whether or not they can get on. Is this the right way to do it?
I have seen an existing post which explains how you can restrict access to an ASPX page using:
[Code]....
This works as in it keeps those who are not a member of Administrators AD Group from being able to view the webform but for some reason when I implement the above it locks even the Administrator user out which is not what I wanted at all.My web.config is as:
[Code]....
As you can see I have tried to restict it also through the web.config file but neither approach has worked.
I was wondering if you should write code so that external classes and functions of that external class can access the webform controls in the main class???
Or should you only use the external class to process some data, return that data back to the main class (that instantiated that external class object) and then have an internal function in the main class to deliver the data to the control? (back to the screen)
I have created an application with multiple webforms what is the best way to restrict access to particular pages based on what group logged on user is in?
Currently, I have many controls and objects such as Chart1 of mschart as part of the public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page.
At the bottom, I've created a second class that is not part of the _Default webform class. How can I access the webform controls from this second class?
I have set up a simple bit of code to upload an image to the web server. It works offline without a hitch but online I get an error saying denied access.I am not overly surprised to be honest as I have not configured anything on the server (through my web host "Mochahost") to allow unknown users to upload files. I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction.
I want to insert photograph in access database from client pc but after coding i am getting error of file "could not find the path of client machine" i have given all the permissions to appdata folder and database.
While uploading file on live server i get this error.
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'xxxwork-max.comTelecomimageslogo.gif' is denied.
ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.
<identity impersonate="true"/> promotes for user name and password each time i select
file uploading.
[URL] - with reference to this post grant permissions to NETWORK SERVICE user will solve the problem but granting permissions will
I have a simple update query to a access database. Works perfectly on my localhost but when I upload it to the server it displays this. The weird thing in the "
monstababy.MailingList.btnSubmit_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:inetpubwwwrootmonstababymonstababymonstababyMailingList.aspx.cs:26" mention of my
local host settings on the server. I have spoken to my host and they have set permissions for the data folder etc but this still prevails. I am positive it
I am using a server control on a single web.forms page. I have to use this control on a web.forms page since its a server control, although this is actually a MVC project. So I created a web.forms folder and put my new page in it. I then copy the example code from the signature control. I get the following error:
The base class includes the field 'ctrlSign', but its type (WebSignatureCapture.SignatureControl) is not compatible with the type of control (ASP.signaturecapture_signaturecontrol_ctlsignature_ascx).
I know the code works because if I removed the ID attribute from the server control, it no longer gives me this error and my control renders. But I need the attribute for the ID so I can perform is post event
I am using this signature control. Here's the web.forms code...
How can I access a webform control from a Web User Control?
I have a web form with some textboxes and dropdownlists. I created a Web User Control with other controls (other textboxes) inside it. Now I need to call from the web control source code the values that the controls in my web page have. How do I do it?
in webform 1, i have search button when i click its open webform2 and there the gridview.
I want when i click the link in gridview in webform 2 then it close webform 2 and change the datasource parameter in webform 1 without open the new window (still same window)
When uploading a new DLL for a large web application (dll is around 1mb) IIS throws an error because the DLL is 'in-use', meaning the website is down while the DLL is being uploaded. Is there a way to stop this behaviour?
Also, although I am using Web Applications, not Web Sites, whenever I upload a new DLL it still takes a while for IIS to restart after a fresh upload. I thought this wait was generally only for websites as they need to be compiled by IIS, not Web Applications?
Where should i store photos for a facebook-like app ? locally on the server in a folder or upload them to a database ? I am not intending to make this app commercial .
