on my repeater i builed a table and want to show a colum just for user that is in role admin.i need to remove the column in the HeaderTemplate and in ItemTemplate.i could use data logic and add a db column that will be boolean, but then i need to send to the SP the user role.

Is there something like this? It has to come from the solution configuration. I know I could hard code the solution configurations into the c# configName variable using multiple if conditions but wondered if there is something like above.

The following line from my repeater is straightforward enough but now how would I modify it if I wanted the "C2" statement in the ToString to pull from a field in my datasource named "MyFormat" which would contain either the C2 or N0 value? Basically switching the formatting for that label between currency and a double?

I've attempted to simply insert a statement such as Eval("MyFormat") in place of the "C2" statement but to no avail.
I have two update panels on my page. One of them contains a list of users which is retrieved from the database. When I click a search button (which is outside of the update panel) the users are retrieved from SQL server and displayed in a repeater inside this update panel. Each of the users has a button next to them to 'Edit'. The seconds update panel contains all of the fields for a user. Textboxes, checkboxes and what not.
My plan is to click the search button as you normally would, and then when you click the 'Edit' button on a user, the second update panel fills with their details. This works except that when I do this the first update panel is updated again and because it hasn't searched for any users it goes blank.
So what I did was set both the update panels to conditional, and then call the first panels update at the end of the search code in the search button click event. So that worked, but now the repeater inside the first update panel is not firing the Item_Command event, so I can't get the details for a user. How can I resolve this so that the repeater button works inside the conditional update panel?
I have a repeater control with a delete button on each row. I also have a link on the same page (not within the repeater) that I only want to be visible when the repeater contains at least one row.
My problem is that, when the delete button on the final row is clicked, this triggers a postback during which the ItemCommand event is called to process the delete click. However this event is processedafter the Page Load event in which I would normally render or not render the conditional link. So I don't know at the time I'm rendering the link whether the user has just deleted the last row.
Am I misunderstanding the chain of events or is there a better way of handling this? Could I, for example, determine from the Sender & e arguments available within the Page_Load event, that the postback has been triggered by clicking the delete button in the repeater? The only other way I can see of dealing with this is to force a second postback once the final row of the repeater has been deleted which seems like overkill.

I have no problem accessing these variables form .ascx.cs or .aspx.cs file -- ie. files that are part of the Web content. However, I can't seem to access 'Application' from basic class objects (ie. standalone .cs files). I read somewhere to use a slight variations in .cs files, as follows, but it always comes throws an exception when in use:

I hope I am posting into the right area... I want to know if you can access a session variable from a HTTP Module in IIS 7. Here is the scenario, I want to access the session values (i.e. User Object) from a HTTP Module. I have read oodles and tried many things but to no avail. I guess the application uses Forms authentication to authorize a logon to the site. I want to monitor the url that is submitted... RAWUrl property and if they are going to a certain page I want to grab their user object from THEIR session and validate them for access to that page. I want to use a httpmodule for this. The long and short of this is "Can I get access to session variables from the request from the httpmodule code behind? If I can, could you beso kind as to show me a working sample... I have tried many permutations on this using httpapplication, context and so forth and I can't seem to get access to session variables that would belong to the users request. it this possible?
View 1 RepliesI have this function that I want to pass the IP and port to and check for a connection. It works fine if I put "127.0.0.1" in the tcpClnt.Connect line. But if I pass the IP2 as shown in the line commented out, it tells me No such host is found. It's like it thinks "IP2" is the host name. How can I pass a variable in there?

I need to set the ParentItemID variable for the uc1:pdf listed inside the repeater.
I thought I should be able to find uc by looking in the e.Item and then setting it somehow. I think this is the part where I'm missing something.

UPDATE: It looks like my controls are not connected by a namespace. I've wrapped by the parent control (Layer) and the PressFileDownlad control in a namespace "MyControls". Also updated their Inherits reference on the aspx to read "MyControls.xxxxx". I'm able to type "MyControls.Layer" inside the code on layer.aspx.cs but I'm not able to get "MyControls.PressFileDownload"
I was wondering if setting a default value for a SelectList is considered to be presentation logic or business logic? For example, if a requirement is that an Employee cannot be saved without a Location, but 99% of the time the location that would be selected is a particular item -- say Atlanta. Because of this, the location SelectList should be defaulted to Atlanta when ever a entry screen for a new employee is displayed. Should I be defaulting the location in the model or in the view-model? One thing I realized is that the unit tests become awkward because in both cases, I'd be forced to test against a location that will always be present in production but I cannot create a unit test with my own test dataunless "Atlanta" was in the set of locations being used in the test.
