Accessing To Request Object Will Lead To ReadEntityBody To Return 0 (in A HttpHandler Class)?

Dec 25, 2010

I created a httpHandler that successfully implements IHttpHandler for handling file uploads. It works perfectly fine. You send the file with the form, the class receives it and will save it to hard disk. It reads chunks of file with ReadEntityBody function of HttpWorkerRequest class.

Here is the situation i'm faced with.If at any stage before trying to read the file with ReadEntityBody, I try to access Request object (even Request.InputStream.Length!) ReadEntityBody would return 0 means it won't read from file stream.

After further testing I found out the reason behind it. Accessing to Context.Current.Request object will trigger some sort of functionality that will cause asp.net to handle file uploads at that moment by it's own! I believe this is a bug.

for example exactly after this line of code, asp.net will upload the file completely, and so there will be no stream for ReadEntityBody to read from later.

int FileSize = context.Request.InputStream.Length;

VS 2010 - Create Class To Return Data As List Object

Dec 4, 2013

I have a Google spreadsheet that I am reading data from and I want to load the data into a list object so I can use but I am having some issues.

Google Spreadsheet
-Worksheet name: Charts
-Tab: Color_Summarized
-Column 1: ColorSummary
-Column 2: ChildID
-Column 3: ParentID

sample rows:
Aqua|29|28
Blue|49|23
Yellow|55|28

My results are
Yellow Color_Summarized FH 55 28

How do I need to set it up so it keeps all the data loaded instead of just the last instance? Is there a better way then putting in class?

My code:

Code:
Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic
Imports System.Data
Imports System.Collections.Generic
Imports Google.GData.Spreadsheets

C# - Accessing A Master Page From Httphandler?

Apr 9, 2010

I am developing a small application in asp.net (writing in c#). In my application I am using jquery to perform asynchronous call to the server. I have an http handler that listens in to the requests and does what it needs to do.

Problems start when in the handler I need to access information stored in the page , from where the asynchronous call started. When I try this:

Page page = HttpContext.Current.Handler as Page;

I don't get a page.

How else can I access the page itself?

Accessing IIS's Request Handling Pipeline To Inject A Request And Get The HTML Response?

Dec 9, 2010

Is it at all possible to inject a request into IIS for a page, have IIS and ASP.Net handle it as normal, but get the response as html handed back to me programmatically?

Yes, I know that I could connect to port 80 using WebRequest and WebResponse, but that becomes difficult if you are accessing the IIS server from the same physical machine (loopback security controls et al).

Basically, I want to inject the request (eg for [URL]) between the points at which IIS would normally talk to the browser, and the point at which it would route it to the correct ASP.Net application, and get a response back from IIS between the points at which ASP.Net/IIS applies the httpfilters and hands the html back to the browser.

I'm predominantly working with IIS7 so if there is a solution that works just for IIS7 then thats not an issue.

I'm using a custom ashx HttpHandler to retrieve gif images from a database and show it on a website - when the image exists, it works great.

However, there are cases when the image will not exist, and I'd like to have the html table holding the image to become invisible so the "image not found" icon is not shown.

HttpHandlers / Modules :: Accessing Files On Another Server Using Httphandler?

Oct 29, 2010

I need to access image files (.jpg) on a server other than the web server my app runs on. I would like to use an httphandler to do this but I am unsure of the syntax to specify the path. I have tried mapping a drive on the web server to the file server but that didn't work. I have tried using a UNC path but that did not work either.

How To Return A Pdf From A Web Request In .NET

Jan 13, 2010

Simply put, I'd like someone to be able to click a link, and get a one-time-use pdf. We have the library to create PDF files, so that's not an issue.

We could generate a link to an aspx page, have that page generate the pdf, save the pdf to the filesystem, and then Response.Redirect to the saved pdf. Then we'd somehow have to keep track of and clean up the PDF file.

Since we don't ever need to keep this data, what I'd like to do instead, if possible, is to have the aspx page generate the pdf, and serve it directly back as a response to the original request. Is this possible?

(In our case, we're using C#, and we want to serve a pdf back, but it seems like any solution would probably work for various .NET languages and returned filetypes.)

Can Return Multiple Content Types Per One HTTP Request

Reporting system has list of available reports on a web page. When user clicks on a report new browser window opens, server starts to prepare report (winword document) and then sends it back after 2-10 seconds.

Code in the handler looks like the following:

context.Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition",
"attachment;filename=report.doc");
context.Response.BinaryWrite(reportDocument);

Is it possible to prepare html content immediately send it back and then continue with time-consuming report preparation not closing connection?

Security :: Context.Request.Url Doesn't Return Https?

Apr 18, 2010

We just moved an ASP.net application to a new server and are now getting this error when we try to return to a page: Http/1.1 Service Unavailable

In testing, I find that the address of the page does not include the SSL designator. It is trying to use http:// instead of https://. This value is coming from the Context.Request.Url property of the page.

why Context.Request.Url would not return the "https" for a page under SSL?
