Active Directory/LDAP :: Error '8007202f' Automation Error A Constraint Violation Occurred?

Sep 9, 2010

I have an old COM+ object that we've used to create AD user accounts with information from our HR system. This process has been broken since a recent upgrade, so I'm attempting to modify the object to point to a new DC and a new inforamtion store during mailbox creation. After modifying the code I am unable to get an account to be crated and the following error appears:error '8007202f' Automation error A constraint violation occurredI am not a developer and I know that this is a long shot but if anyone has any insight into if this is an AD issue or one with VB 6, any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I think this is the relevent code but again, I'm an admin not a developer:

thenewuser.SetInfo
thenewuser.SetPassword "NewBie!!!"
thenewuser.AccountDisabled = False

I tried to use Authentication form with LDAP but when I run my web application I received error: Invalid dn syntax specified. This is my code:

public bool IsAuthenticated(string domain, string username, string password)
{
// string domainAndUsername = domain + @"" + username;
string domainAndUsername = "http://localhost:389

// DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry(_path, domainAndUsername, password);// _path = LDAP://localhost:389/dc=example,dc=com
DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://localhost:389",domainAndUsername,"rJsmitH");
try
{
Object obj = entry.NativeObject;
DirectorySearcher search = new DirectorySearcher(entry);
search.Filter = "(SAMAccountName=" + username + ")";
search.PropertiesToLoad.Add("cn");

SearchResult result = search.FindOne();

if(null == result)
{
return false;
}
_path = result.Path;

Active Directory/LDAP :: .Net MVC 2 'Unable To Establish Secure Connection With The Server' Error?

Jul 23, 2010

We're having an error similar to the one detailed here. We get the error noted above when trying to do AD authentication from our .net (3.5) mvc 2 app. This is our first .net mvc app ...

http://forums.asp.net/t/1161047.aspx

- We are re-using a forms auth library written for a .Net 2 app

- that library/app/config used a service account with min. privileges for binding to AD

- This error occurs in VS 2008, have not tried deploying the app to a server yet (a little early for that)

- like the other user at the previously referenced thread, I can get the 'unable to establish ...' error to go away and display the log on page by putting *MY* credentials in instead of the service account (but not successfully authenticate)

- moving the service account into the same AD OU as my account does not seem to change it ... only using my account credentials does.

- trust level is set to full

Is this some odd permissions trick that is new with .Net 3.5 (even though the ADmembershipProvider is still a 2.0 libary)? This should have nothing to do with MVC itself.

Config looks like this (very standard, like every one else's)

[Code]....

The line/portion highlighted in the debug/stacktrace is:

type="System.Web.Security.ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider, System.Web, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"

Active Directory/LDAP :: Getting Error "A Referral Was Returned From The Server."

Mar 16, 2010

I am trying to use ActiveDirectory/Windows Authentication. However I am having problems with the connection string for this

<membership defaultProvider="MembershipADProvider">
<providers>
<add

It seems as if the Connection String is the Problem

<add name="ADConnectionString" connectionString=LDAP://Server/DC=Server/OU=Users />

Note that Server is an alasis for the actual server name (www.someurl.com) and I am attempting to get this solution to run on localhost/visual studio. The error I seem to be getting is "A referral was returned from the server." Not sure if I need to specify a username/password (how?), if the URL syntax is wrong, that I'm trying to connect to the server remotely, the fact that 'server' is an alias or what.

Active Directory/LDAP :: Converting Old Active Directory Code To New Namespace References?

Jun 24, 2010

I am updating some CS code that was written in 2004, and that references some assemblies which extract user data from AD by query filtering on the user's title. I can't test my updated code in VS2010 because the assemblies no longer compile - the references are no longer valid (I can't create a DirectoryEntry or DirectorySearcher) so I need to work out how to replace the code with current directoryservices.accountmanagement namespace properties and methods. I have searched around but don't seem to be getting anywhere. give me some code that will work with vs 2010 to replicate the following:
