Add Web Reference Does Not Generate Asynchronous Proxy Code?
Jan 28, 2010
I am trying to add a web reference to an ASP.NET 2.0 application in Visual Studio 2008.However, the generated proxy classes do not include BeginXXXX and EndXXXX methods.Hcan I get these to be generated? Do I need to manually use wsdl.exe?(Incidentally in ASP.NET 3.5 apps, there is an option in the Add Service Reference box which lets me specify that Async methods should be generated. However, I am limited to ASP.NET 2.0 implementation).
we have an existing ASP.net application that is undergoing expansion. The new functionality is all written in Silverlight 4. As part of that expansion I gutted all the old Linq to SQL and put Entity Framework 4 into place. To do this I created a standard .net Class Library and added my edmx files there. Naturally, the business entities created by this cannot be used in Silverlight. So I created a Silverlight Class Library and added all the business entities to that Silverlight Class Library as linked files. I changed the name space to be the same.
So I have the following assembly / namespaces
Company.Project.Dal.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (.net 4 class library)
Company.Project.Entities.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (SL4 class library)
With this architecture I was able to share my business entities with my SL enabled web services, my asp.net projects, my silverlight projects. Really it's a beautiful thing.
Once this was done I added "message" classes to Company.Project.Dal and again shared them with the other entites using linked files. These messages are things like MyObjectRequest; they are classes that have properties that can set to the ID of the record in the database you want to get, a search string for filtering by last name, first name, etc. (This is in the style of the Web Service Factory if you're familiar with that.)
Finally I turned the whole message into a generic using a base class called EntityRequest

I corrected this error and everything went well for a week until I had to make my first change to the service interface. I added a new operation contract, clicked the handy Update Service Reference on my client and boom.
i am working in the web services aspects on sharepoint. However, the vs 2008 (3.0i am working in the web services aspects on sharepoint. However, the vs 2008 (3.0 or higher) does not seem to create a proxy class when i have used the add service reference and used the backward compatible version to use add web reference for 2.0. However, i dont seem to find the proxy class. does not seem to create a proxy class when i have used the add service reference and used the backward compatible version to use add web reference for 2.0. At my campus whenever i open my browser to surf the internet, it requires username and password, e.g IE shows a dialog box requiring uid and pwd then it allows to surf the internet. In short i am behind an authenticated proxy server.I am using vs2008 and trying to add web/service reference to my c# desktop application or asp.net web applicationwhenever i try to add reference it does not show any dialog box(for uid n pwd) and give an error as407 proxy authentication...i have googled at a lot, tried two KB articles but cannot find any solution
am just figuring out best practice with MVC now I have a project where we have chosen to use it in anger. My question is.If creating a list view which is bound to an IEnumerable is this bad practise?Would it be better to seperate the code generated by the WCF Service reference into a datastructure which essentially holds the same data but abstracts further from the service, meaning that the UI is totally unaware of the service implementation beneath.or do people just bind to the proxy object types and have done with it ?My personal feeling is to create an abstraction by creating a model and placing the Collection in that and referring to the collection in the UI code from the model.
I am working on converting a project from C# to VB and am facing this weird issue. 1 page cannot compile and I get the reference error, but the weird thing is that the compiler shows the error as coming from ASP.NET generated code. Visual Studio shows me that error is coming from my ASPX page. I cannot seem to figure out why or where this error is occuring. Also if I take the inherits attribute out I don't get the compilation error. The code in aspx page is below:
We have 7 different development environments and only 1 domain name. Whenever we want to hit the particular environment we change the host file entry and modify the IP address to that domain name.
We are creating a web application which checks the health of all these servers. But the problem is we have to modify the hostfile of the system from the code to point to different environment this requires administrative previlages and so this is not best approach. Is there any way to hit the particular environment without touching the host file by using some kind of proxy?
I have a system that generates a invoice in the form of a pdf document. I just want to know, what is the correct way to generate a reference number for the invoice. Preferebly I want something in the line of D100001, D100002 etc. The "D" stand for the kids school grade "D", "E","F" etc.
I have some code which connects to a port quickly and if it can connect then it turns the line in the gridview green, if it cant and times out then it turns the line red. This is great, the problem i have is that the page takes a long time to load (as it has to check each port first) and then if i want to check again if the port is up / down i have to manually refresh it which is not what im after.
[Code]....
The code is in a loop and cycles through the various ports in the DB, what i want to know is how i can write a loop that will going through each port without waiting for the last port to come back with a result
Secondly do this in some way that it will auto refresh every 30 or 60 seconds without having to refresh the whole page.
I am a beginner in ASP.NET using VB Code. I want to generate a Unique reference no by concortinating three column fields.Example:
Column unique reference no (System Generated) - 10 Column with Product Code (User Entry) - APPLE Column with Product Title (User Entry) - FRUITS Unique ref No = FRUITS/APPLE/10
I want to concatenate this three fields to the column Unique Ref No.
depending on the No. of the photos the code will be duplicated in the loop
Then I will display the result of the loop in label or in a textarea to let the user copy it any where
The problem is that while compiling my code it considers the HTML code as a part of the behind file and gives errors on the single quote, the double quote and on the parentheses
I need to generate a Unique Reference number that has 7 digits.
It should be formatted in the following way:
1st: B (Ball), G (Gift), C (Cat)
2nd: represents year of booking A(2010), B(2011),C(2012), etc
3rd: represents the month of booking J(Jan),F(Feb),M(Mar),A(Apr),Y(May), U(Jun), L(Jul),G(Aug), S(Sep),O(Oct),N(Nov),D(Dec)
4th: days of booking A(1st) - Z(26th), 1(27th) - 5(31st)
5,6,7th: These are counters for the number issues each day. Each can be A-Z,0-9 giving a total of 46,656 combinations. So 0 is first, then 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A-Z, then 00 to 0Z, then 10 to 1Z, then 20 to 2Z, etc
Now , the 1st Digit is a Character that I generate based on a condition and that shouldn't be a problem.
I have a feedback form in my website. After submitting the feedback (using Submit button), form's Reference number should generate and showed to the user (with successful message) in a "Pop up" as below:
i.e, your feedback is submitted successfully. Your refrence number is 'xyz10'
This refrence number should be unique for every user who fills the feedback form.
Some time ago (like 3 or 4 years) I heard about ability to generate JavaScript (client) code based on C#.NET source code. I don't remember details, probably that was for validation purposes only.
I have a number of permissions, and based on a set of conditions these permission determine if a user can see certain features. I have written a helper function for this as the logic in the view became quite extensive.
Essentially I'm looking for a function the same as Html.ActionLink that I can access from a class file (Ideally if I can access the Helper that would be great) So I can do somthing like so,
public static string GetAdminLinks() { if(PermCheck) { return(Html.ActionLink(...)); } }
I'm using Visual Studio 2008. I've added a control on a page but can't reference it in code-behind file. When I looked at the Code-Gen file, I didn't find my new control. It looks like Visual Studio didn't update Code Gen file to include my control. Is there a way to manually re-generate that Code Gen file?
