Add Stylesheet Link To Dynamically Created Page Object / Request Is Not Available In This Context
Sep 30, 2010
I'm creating a Page object and adding a control to it for printing purposes. The code works, however I can not find a way to add a stylesheet link to the header. In the code I pasted I'm trying to add a link to the header and then add the header control to the page, but this causes an error:
Request is not available in this context
System.Web.UI.Page.get_Request() +8700216
System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlHead.RenderChildren(HtmlTextWriter writer) +83.....

I have a master page with two css stylesheet links that work correctly. I have a child page with one css stylesheet linked to it.
My problem is this... The stylesheet attached to the child sheet is not working. After some research I discovered (or assuming) it is because of the renaming convention so the stylesheet cannot find the actual controls because they were renamed. I haven't tried using the renamed ids as I am just assuming that would work. I would like a cleaner approach, say... if asp is going to rename the id's on the child page it should know that there is a stylesheet linked and rename those too.

I have been experiementing with the annonymous types in C#, and am wondering if it would be possible to have a 'dynamic key' in the annonymous object.Here is what I have so far:
[Code]....
[ { "monday": true } ] what I am getting: [ { "temp": true } ]Is there a way to have the object's 'key' be dynamicly created? What I want it to be able to send the KeyValuePair's key as the object's key. Is this possible?

I want to dynamically create asp textbox objects (as well as other types) with id's named sequentially up to a number the user decides but I'm having a problem getting my code behind to recognize these dynamically created objects. In "div1" below I manually create the objects and I have no problem getting the values in Sub cmdSaveDiv1Info_Click. My dynamically created code generated in Page_Load routine is identical to that in "div1" except for the textbox ID's yet when I try to retrieve the values the same way in cmdSaveDiv2Info_Click I get an "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error on the "Dim d2Year as String.." line.

onething is not clear to me that in asp.net 1.1 there was asp.net project type but from 2.0 there is no asp.net project type option rather
there is option called website. in website type project no solution is created and no link is created with IIS.
why microsoft design in this way from 2.0. i think there must be soldin reason & advantage behind it.

I have a page, Default.aspx, with its own code-behind file like this:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page
{
public int[] anArray;
}
What I'd like to do is access to "anArray" from a C# class (not tied to a page) declared in App_Code folder. What can I do?
Edit: As said in the first comment, I really apreciate your about refactoring my connection objects. However, what I'm really doing here is to rewrite an old PHP application in order to get comfortable with basic C# and ASP.NET, so this code will never go really live. So, I'm still intersted in a way (if any) to access an object declared in a code-behind code from a standard C# class.
Edit2: I removed the OdbcConnection object in order to focus to the real problem: how to refer to an object istantiated in a code-behind file from a C# class situated in App_Code?

How do I call Page.Request properties from a thread after the host headers are gone.
I used:
[Code]....
in Page_Load, but still get the error.
My ASP.NET Web app has a thread which calls a method in the Page. This method then calls:
searchQuery = Page.Request.Path
This throws an exception with a message of, "Request is not available in this context."

I'm using Request.PathInfo to response.redirect as user to a different page ( based on the content after .aspx ). It redirect just fine however, once redirected, the page loses all content from the master page and the CSS link.

what I am currently doing is creating an aspx form dynamically and saving its data by using Server.Transfer("PrssPage.aspx").
On ProcessPage.aspx I am using the Previous Page property to save the data entered by the user using the dynamically created form.
Each Dynamic Form is provided an ID for example 123.aspx
Now what I want to achieve is to repopulate the dynamically created aspx page with the user input values from database, plz note here that I do not have an aspx.cs page getting dynamically generated. I am only generating aspx page.

I'm working on an ASP.NET project in which the vast majority of the forms are generated dynamically at run time (form definitions are stored in a DB for customizability). Therefore, I have to dynamically create and add my controls to the Page every time OnLoad fires, regardless of IsPostBack. This has been working just fine and .NET takes care of managing ViewState for these controls.
protected override void OnLoad(EventArgs e)
{
base.OnLoad(e);
RenderDynamicControls()
}
private void RenderDynamicControls(){
//1. call service layer to retrieve form definition
//2. create and add controls to page container
}
I have a new requirement in which if a user clicks on a given button (this button is created at design time) the page should be re-rendered in a slightly different way. So in addition to the code that executes in OnLoad (i.e. RenderDynamicControls()), I have this code:
protected void MyButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
RenderDynamicControlsALittleDifferently() [code]
My question is, is this really the only way to accomplish what I'm after? It seems beyond hacky to effectively render the form twice simply to respond to a button click. I gather from my research that this is simply how the page-lifecycle works in ASP.NET: Namely, that OnLoad must fire on every Postback before child events are invoked. Still, it's worthwhile to check with the SO community before having to drink the kool-aid.
On a related note, once I get this feature completed, I'm planning on throwing an UpdatePanel on the page to perform the page updates via Ajax.

I'm creating a static helper class for web services I'm writing. I'm tapping into the API of Telligent and therefore creating these Telligent "service" objects that allow me to do things with the platform. For example, I'm creating a MembershipSerice object in my helper class so I can do membership stuff with the same object. In my helper class I have a property with a getter that creates a new one of these objects:
private static MembershipService _MembershipService {
get return new MembershipService(path, usr, pwd);

I have a table thats created dynamically, the table gets its contents from a custom class I've created that gets statistical data from a database. As the table is generated dynamically, I've put the contents class (the table data) into a session object and I populate the table initially inside a !IsPostback then on the page init I get the data from the session (its empty on the firts page load). I am now getting this error: Multiple controls with the same ID 'controlnamehere' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs. How can I avoid this?

I have a menu. I use the menu's menuitemclick event to create a gridview (several actually) that is then added to a panel for display.The gridview paints perfectly until I try to add paging.I have successfully used paging and sorting declaratively for years, but this is my first attempt to do everything in code.When the gridview tries to databind, it throws an error:
