I'm creating a Page object and adding a control to it for printing purposes. The code works, however I can not find a way to add a stylesheet link to the header. In the code I pasted I'm trying to add a link to the header and then add the header control to the page, but this causes an error:

I have a Web service which, when updated on one computer with VS2008 works perfectly fine, but on another computer does not. The critical difference is the contents of the auto-generated Reference.cs.
In the correctly functioning environment, the methods have fully qualified class names, refering to classes in a class library. However, in the problem environment, the class names are unqualified and partial classes are declared near the end of the file. E.g.
[code]....
The code is under source control. Checking out to the working environment works straight away, checking out to the problem environment will only work if the reference.cs is manually edited to be like the working environments. Transferring the project manually from problem environment to the working one only requires an "Update Web Reference" to be performed to allow compilation. Both Reference.cs files claim to be auto-generated by the same tool version. The settings from the good environment have been exported to the other. No success so far...

In my aspx page, I have a number of drop down controls. I would like to update an attribute on each of the controls with "class=leftColumn" with the following line: propertyID.Attributes["nameOfAttribute"] = "false";
But instead of manually writing out each controlID and setting its attribute with the line above, I had hoped there was a way to go through and set the attribute on each control ID if it had class=leftcolumn. This is something I know is very easy with JQuery, BUT I need to do it with the code behind (C#) I was told this is not possible (i.e. to acquire a list of all the controls and then iterate through the list and give it the attribute or any other way. That manually setting each control like the above example is the only way in ASP.NET.

I'm writing a program that inserts controls onto a webform dynamically. Depending on a variable, I add either a textbox, a set of radio buttons, or a set of checkboxes. Later, after a user clicks a submit button I need to use the controls to determine if the user is submitting the correct answer, but when I try to reference the id of a control, I get "txtAnser is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to it's protections level.
Here is the .aspx page (it's the standard content page of a master page):

I have some usercontrol which gets loaded dynamicaly. I know how to add these usercontrols dynamically. The problem is, which usercontrol are to be added is decided only at runtime. So I cannot use <%@ register %> or <%@ Reference %> on the '.aspx' page. How to access the usercontrols without using these directives?

I'm trying to reference a public property from a string. How can this be done in vb.net? I have the text value of "FirstName" stored in strucParam(i).TxtPropertyName.
This is what I'm currently doing:
Dim tmpValue As String
Dim ucAppName As UserControl_appName = CType(Parent.FindControl(strucParam(i).ParentFindControl), UserControl_appName)
tmpValue = ucAppName.FirstName.Text
How can I use the value in strucParam(i).TxtPropertyName so that I can remove ".FirstName" from my code?

For a Table A defined in the DB like this:
A :{ id, selfId, name,} where selfId is a foreign key refered to Table A itself.
I generated the Entity automatically like this:
A :{ string id; A self; string name,} when i update the entity in gridview Edit/Update CommandField
i got the exception:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Source Error:
[Code]....
Stack Trace:
[Code]....
I guess maybe this is caused by:
A is to be updated, and when the EntityDataSource construct the new A, the reference "self" is invalid at that moment. I do not want to modify my DB structure and do not want to lose the self reference, The event EntityDataSource_Updating is not triggered while the exception hit. so i can not access my entity at any time. Maybe the worst idea is deal the whole Update Procedure myself. However, is there any better workaround?

My application sets the css styesheet via code. The <link> statement below (line #8) is how it is set. The code that sets is is shown at line #23.On my main form, I had to add the runat=server tag on the <head> in order to get my Ajax Editor control to work. When I add runat=server, the stylesheet no longer gets set. When I look at the source, the "<%" is changed to "<%" (line #8 below). I assume this is why my stylesheet is not being set. When I hard code the stylesheet (line #9), it works fine. How do I repair this?

use a stylesheet to reset css while using asp.net webform? I mean contrary to the asp.net MVC, which uses pure HTML and doesn't rely on some magic hidden elements somewhere.

I have an ASP.NET application which requires output caching. I need to invalidate the cached items when the data returned from a web service changes, so a simple duration is not good enough.
I have been doing a bit of reading about cache dependencies and think I have the right idea. It looks like I will need to create a cache dependency to my web service.To associate the page output with this dependency I think I should use the following method:
Response.AddCacheItemDependency(cacheKey);
The thing I am struggling with is what I should add to the cache?
The dependency my page has is to a single value returned by the web service. My current thinking is that I should create a Custom Cache Dependency via subclassing CacheDependency, and store the current value in the cache. I can then use Response.AddCacheItemDependency to form the dependency.
I can then periodically check the value and for a NotifyDependencyChange in order to invalidate my cached HTTP response.The problem is, I need to ensure that the cache is flushed immediately, so a periodic check is not good enough. How can I ensure that my dependant object in the cache which represents the value returned by the web service is re-evaluated before the HTTP response is fetched from the cache?

i have a unordered list(HTML) whose style i am changing conditionally in the code behind
<ul class="steps">
<li class="" id="step1" runat="server">Step 1</li>
<li class="step2" id="step2" runat="server">Step 2</li>
<li class="step3" id="step3" runat="server">Step 3</li>
<li class="step4" id="step4" runat="server">Step 4</li>
</ul>
in the code behind iam doing something
step1.Attributes["class"] = "step1";
step2.Attributes["class"] = "step2New";
something like this
If iam using internal styles then its working fine but when iam taking the same style sheet to external file then it is not working
Is it because i am assigning attributes using id i don't know
the css file is some what like this
