I'm trying to inherit the GridView such that I can add a collection of filter properties which can be shown at design or altered at run time which would be like:-
Is there a way to do this in asp.net 2.0 GridView.
I'm looking for a good way to add arbitrary properties to the objects in a strongly typed list, based on the principle that I shouldn't pass a DataTable from my business layer to my presentation layer.For example, I might have a Category class with the properties CategoryId and Title. On one page I would like to fetch a list of all categories (ie. List<Category>) together with the most expensive product in each category.A while ago, I would have just returned a DataTable with some additional columns in it with the product data in, but I'm trying not to do that -- it would be trivial to set up it's not good practice. One option is to add a MostExpensiveProduct property to my Category class, but I might want to display the most recently added product in another case, or the cheapest product, so I'd end up adding a lot of properties to cover all the options. This just doesn't feel right to me.Am I missing a trick here? What is the best way of doing this? Or should I just be returning a DataTable to which I can add as many columns as I need and not worry about it?
I have a c# v3.5 framework site that I am doing some maintenance on. I wish to use Automatic Properties but whenever I try to add one, the compiler fails [as below]. I have added the System.Core.dll (and it is in the web.config ok) but still no joy.
Error 6 'XXX.Archive.TypeOfArchive.get' must declare a body because it is not marked abstract or extern
I am struggling to find out the problem with something. Basically on this page:
[URL]
If you look at the nursery diary tab, will see an article, the first article is named "Test article for archives 1". Now the date should be 01 April 2010, but instead its showing as 04 Jan 2010.
I don't understand why. I have been looking at my insert statement and when i insert in the admin section i have a AJax date extender. And it populates the text box like so '01/04/2010'
But then when i check in my database i notice it has been added as '04/01/2010'.
What does this mean?
My insert statement is like this:
<snip>
The insert works perfectly, but the date format is inserted wrong.
I have a new VS2010 .NET 4.0 Web project and the Properties Folder has gone wierd on me. It has lost teh "Open" under the right click. There is no way to get a Settings file created now.
I am unable to get to the Settings grid and no Settings file is created. I tried the help and it has the normal trip of select Properties, Open (right click), Settings Tab, etc. etc.
I am relatively new to ASP.NET. I am just wondering if there is way to read values from properties file (similar to rading a properties file from JSP or java).
For example if a property file has something similar to this:
[Code]....
I would like to read all the values for username_list (comma seperated) and also the value of is_valid.
I have a objectdatasource control with a field of date and time and I was wanting to know how you format the date to uk format with the select statement through my objectdatasource. And what type of integer is bigint in SQL?
var emailReg = /^w+([.-]?w+)*@w+([.-]?w+)*(.w{2,3})+$/;
This is my regular expression . it accepts the email such as name.name_@__domain.in How can i format my regular expression which accepts only a valid email format only. I need the email validation for above example.it is not a duplicate one.
I have a text field that users enter information into a database (SQL Server). They are entering as little as a few sentances to multiple paragraphs. I can successfully display the data on my webpage, but the text field is not formatted very nicely. The output is all smashed together like one big paragraph. Ironically, when I also display the text as a tool tip it outputs as multiple paragraphs like it was entered. How can I format the output in the datalist to create a more readable text field? My datalist field is as follows:
I am trying to create reports in my asp.net application. I using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. I am trying to display the reports using the Report Viewer (local mode - no report server).
I originally created a lot of reports using Report Builder 2 with the intent of using Report Viewer (remote mode - with a report server). The reports that I created are in rdl format and in order to display the reports using the Report Viewer in local mode, the reports need to be in rdlc mode - (the C stands for client processing).
i would like to display phone number fields on a website as (123) 456-7890 but have the system see it as 1234657890 when calling myTextBox.Text i am thinking this would require overriding the text property and cleaning it up in the overridden property but wanted to run this past the community.
In .net 3.5 produces: '19/04/2010 00:00:00'but as soon as I change the app pool to 4.0 it produces: '4/19/2010 12:00:00 AM'Where can I change the setting that governs this?
I have search application and in my search application there are some premium clients and other free clients.Now whenever any user search at that time i wants to fetch 70% data free and 30% data of premium client and also i wants to search data in the manner of on each page 3 premium client and rest of free users and if click on next page then once again 3 premium client and rest free clients.
I'm bulding document-from-template engine. At certain points I need to match on Reg Exp groups and replace template text with content from a db.
I 'hardcoded' my RegExp initially, doing something like: Regex r = new Regex(@"{DocSectionToggle::(?<ColumnName>w+)::(?<ResponseValue>.+)}[[(?<SectionContent>.+)]]", RegexOptions.Multiline);
it does group capture, so the syntax isn't the prettiest.
Just to make things neater and because I want' to keep the patterns in web.config or elsewhere, I've 'evolved' algorithm to something like:
[code]...
But I'm getting an error: 'Input string was not in correct format'.
I've just encountered an interesting problem in a standard BoundField in a GridView. The field is for EmployeeCode, which is purely numeric, but stored in a character column in the database. The DataFormatString="{0:00000}" attribute on the BoundField doesn't work, as I assume that format is only for numeric values.
To work around this, I had to use a TemplateField, and bind the text value using the attribute Text='<%# PadNumericString(Eval("EmployeeCode").ToString(), 5) %>'. Is there no simpler way of doing this?
In my actions, I want to pre-load the User object and set some other properties, all BEFORE the action loads. I know there are events where I can do this, but how will these objects that I set be made available in my controller's actions once the filter fires and execution is now at the action level?
example:
public actionresult SomeAction() { string username = this.CurrentUser.username; }
I am trying to come up with the best way to get only certain properties from a type using reflection. How can I differentiate the properties from each other?
I understand that I can use binding flags or name. But say I want only a certain four properties. Would the best way be to create a custom attribute for the ones I want then loop through all of the properties to see if they have that attribute?
