I am using ASPDotNetStoreFront demo and i cannot login to the admin site. If i try logging in using the admin user on the front end i can login so that means the credentials are correct. When i enter credentials on the admin login screen the same page is refreshed. I have tried setting it up on different machines, tested on different browsers but the same issue persists.
I have a feedback form that should send an email to the site Admin. This is just on my laptop in development stage and not on a server, but I think it still should function with my personal email account settings, shouldn't it? Everything seems to work fine - there are no error messages. But no emails are received in my testing.
I have one strange issue on SQL Reporting Services admin website (like URL). I am System Administrator as well as the content manager of this site. Under the Contents tab, the links New Data Source and Upload File is redirecting to https:// site(secured site) which always fail to load. But the links for the New Folder and Report Builder are working fine and redirects to http:// site. I repaired the installation of SQL Server also but there is a same problem.
I am trying to send an email using the gmail smtp server. I am trying to enter the SMTP settings into the Web Site Admin tool. I have set
Server Name: smtp.gmail.com server port: 587 from: myemail@gmail.com
Sender's User Name: my real gmail username Sender's Password: my real gmail password
I am getting the following error when I try to send an email as a result on using the CreateUserWizard after successfully creating a new user.
Code:
The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. i29sm30127820vcr.12
I am having some major headaches trying to get a Web Dev 2010 and SQL Server Express 2008 R2 to work together. At one point I hade Web Dev Express 2008 and SQL Express 2008 working together just fine, then I upgraded to 2008 Express R2 and have never been able to recover.
I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall several times, browsed the forums, watched videos, and while I have picked up a few things, I am still far from being able to get these two apps to work together for basic user authentication.
Here is where I am at. Web Dev Express 2010, .Net 4.0, and SQL Server Express 2008R2 installed. I have ran the .v4 aspnet_regsql.exe app against SQLEXPRESS, but when I bring up the Web Site Admin Tool, it cannot connect.
My machine.config connectin info is: [Code]....
Thinking that I may have some uninstalled connection info causing problems, I reviewed several of the security videos on this site, and decided to attempt to use my own database install rather then the default ASPNETDB.
So I now have 2 Database Engines (SQLEXPRESS and LOC). I created a new databases on LOC, named LOC and AspNetServicesDB. I then created users named LOCADMIN and AspNetServicesUser, made then the owners, and set the default database for eacg.Next I ran aspnet_regsql.exe from the v4.0.30319 folder, connected successfully, and installed the tables under AspNetServicesDB. The new tables (roles, membership, profiles) were installed. I then proceeded to copy the above machine.config connection info to the web.config file, and modified it as Joe Stagner did in this video. My edited web.config info:
[Code]....
Note that password is set to the real password in my config file.
Yet when I bring up the Web Site Administration Tool test the single provider, I get this error:
I have a question with this tool. I have a database listed in the App_folder, and the database has a connection in Server explorer. The connection string is listed in the web.config file, and I am able to add users and roles with the Web Admin Tool. However, when in the Web Admin Tool, under Configuration tab, I receive an error when I click on the "test" button. The error reads " Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider."
I have web applications which were developed before I installed during mid week last week the SP1 from Web Platform Installer and MVC3. My applications currently still use MVC2. When I open Site.Master, the VS2010 would crash every time and tries to restart. The problem doesn't apply to .aspx, ascx, or other extension. Does anyone have the same problem? Here is what I have done to my computer:
1. Installed MVC3 2. Installed VS2010 SP1 and associated components using Web Platform Installer (install failed several time, but succeed this morning) 3. Modified myProject.csproj file using NotePad to change <mvcBuildViews> from false to true
My site is 100% private (only public facing page is login) I've had the need to open up a page to anon via the <location> node in the web config...and that all seems to work However the issue now appears to be that dynamic resources such as the Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource.axd and imagesjavascript changed via handlers dont load. A firebug of the situation shows that for those dynamic elements, it's trying to re-direct to login to get them Is there anyway around this?
This is my third site that I use role management, but the first time this happens. I have two roles: Member and Admin. If Admin user login, Admin node on sitemap shows. It works very well on my local machine in Visual Studio Express 2008 and in Visual Studio Team 2008. But once I deploy files to live site, even admin login, the Admin node doesn't show. I have a Member management page from which I may see member's role, and I can see that user name is in the role Admin. What could be wrong?
I used ASP.Net Configuration manager to create roles, users, and access roles. Here is the code:
integrate AspDotNetStorefront and Sitecore? I've been trying for the past couple of days to come up with a way to get the two systems to play nicely together, but it doesn't seem feasible from what I can tell. A couple issues I've run across so far:
Authentication between the two (AspDotNetStorefront has its own implementation, Sitecore just uses/extends .NET Membership)The main DLL for AspDotNetStorefront is what pops up in the stack trace when I get yellow-screened, but that DLL is obfuscated so I can't figure out what the problem is.
we need to keep our existing AspDotNetStorefront application as an e-commerce backend and use Sitecore to do everything else. AspDotNetStorefront has a CMS as part of it, but it's really not an acceptable solution for anything but really basic content pages.
EDIT:
I've decided to break this whole thing down into the different problems that I am facing at the moment and solve each one as efficiently as I know how. I'll detail the ones I have here and then update when I run into new ones.
Problem 1: Authentication between the two systems.
This one isn't too bad actually if you're knowledgeable about forms authentication tickets, which I wasn't at the time but am learning quickly enough. As long as the two systems share the same encryption info, it's easy enough to pass information back and forth between them using cookies as stated below in the accepted answer. The other kicker is that I needed to set the CustomerGUID in the AspDotNetStorefront Customer table to be the user ID from the Sitecore user tables (standard ASP.NET membership). So far this approach seems to work pretty well (I'm still in the proof of concept stage at the moment.
Problem 2: Getting at the product data
This one was a little more troublesome. The aforementioned web service has a few issues I've had difficulty working around. However, since the databases are going to be on the same server, I simply decided that since all I really need is the price and ID I would go ahead and set the ProductGUID column of each product in the Storefront database to match the Sitecore item ID of the corresponding item in the Sitecore database. This way I just need a quick query to grab the ProductID and price information which is only used in a few places. Everything else is going to be housed in Sitecore.
If anyone has anything to add feel free, as far as I can tell from Google, no one has actually done this before, so I'm having a lot of trouble finding resources on this particular topic.
UPDATE:
The integration is in fact possible and our site has been up for a week and a half now with very few integration related problems. This isn't something I recommend doing really on a personal level, but it is in fact possible to pull off.
I'm starting an ecommerce project that has very heavy backend integration requirements. I need an ecommerce package that is easy to customize and can function at the enterprise level. If you are familiar with Media Chase and Aspdotnetstorefront, could you let me know what your experience has been and if you lean towards one or the other (or if you recommend a total different platform).
This is what I have in the RegisterUser.aspx and yet when the admin registers a new user, then on clickiing the register button, the site logs in as the user who was just created.
Working on my first asp.net webpage. i have followed video tutorials and implemented asp.net membership for login/security.Using Visual Studio 2010 i can open the Asp.net configuration page for management locally. But then if I want my site admin to manage users/security online, how is this done? Like manage through a web browser. I guess this asp.net configuration GUI is not available on the internet?
I have an Admin folder which contains 4-5 aspx pages. I want to that only user with role="admin" can view those files. What settings i need in web.config?
I found a great answer on SO describing how to set up custom user roles, and I've done the same in my project. So in my Login service I have:
public ActionResult Login() { // password authentication stuff omitted here var roles = GetRoles(user.Type); // returns a string e.g. "admin,user" var authTicket = new FormsAuthenticationTicket( 1, userName, DateTime.Now, DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(20), // expiry false, roles, "/"); var cookie = new HttpCookie(FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName, FormsAuthentication.Encrypt(authTicket)); Response.Cookies.Add(cookie); return new XmlResult(xmlDoc); // don't worry so much about this - returns XML as ActionResult } And in Global.asax.cs, I have (copied verbatim from the other answer): protected void Application_AuthenticateRequest(Object sender, EventArgs e) { var authCookie = Context.Request.Cookies[FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName]; if (authCookie != null) { var authTicket = FormsAuthentication.Decrypt(authCookie.Value); var roles = authTicket.UserData.Split(new Char[] { ',' }); var userPrincipal = new GenericPrincipal(new GenericIdentity(authTicket.Name), roles); Context.User = userPrincipal; } } Then, in my ServicesController class, I have: [Authorize(Roles = "admin")] //[Authorize] public ActionResult DoAdminStuff() { ... }
I login as a user with the "admin" role, and that works. Then I call /services/doadminstuff - and I get access denied, even though when I put a breakpoint in Global.asax.cs, I can see that my roles do include "admin". If I comment out the first Authorize attribute (with roles) and just use a plain vanilla Authorize, then I can access the service.
I have a requirement where I have to transfer a user from Web Site 1 on Server A to web Site 2 on Server B.
On Web Site 1, I have to provide controls to enter user id and password and which have to be validated on Web Site 2 on server B, after validating them I have to redirect the user to Web site 2.
what is best way fo doing it. code examples are greatly appreciated.
Note: On Web Site 2, user login functionality is already existing and it is provided by ASP.Net login control, am not sure how to handle the user login process from two different places.
or is it the best way to move Web Site 2 from Server B to Server A so that, the same login controls will be shown using Iframe on Web Site A.
I've been using an asp 3.0 widget for this purpose , but it been broken for a while and rather than get it back up, I'd love o get a native asp.net solution, can any one point me in the right direction pleaseI once wrote some asp.net code to do this, but the permissions on the server, which I found to be common every where prevented asp.net native picture upload, perhaps i got it wrong, well now I wanna fix itI need the code to work in a shared hosting IIS 7 environment. I use vb.net, but can usually convert c# to vb.net
Using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I was used to creating a web app anytime and I would get a default page for starters and be happy. But today I find that when I pick either the ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Application templates I get site.master and a bunch of site admin files that I don't want. Alternately when I select the empty versions of those templates, I get almost nothing at all. An almost empty web.config page and no Default.aspx page. There is nothing magical about having a default.aspx page in place, but it is an indicator of a change when I can only get a virtually completely empty website or a website with a bunch of bells and whistles I don't want.
Also, for some reason, when I create a new app or website as just noted, in the Solution Explorer I get aspx.designer.cs files showing as well as web.config files for both debug and release. Somehow some settings and templates must have changed, or am I missing something here? How can I get my settings/templates to go back to the way they were?
I am having a little difficulty trying to wrap my head around site structures. I have quite a large asp.net site, for which: Admins can see a user list, Each user can have many accounts, and for each account can have many items. I can picture this as a breadcrumb trail of editing a particular item. User List > Mr Bob > Accounts > BOB77 > Items > Item32 > Edit
User List = All the users Mr Bob = A user the administrator has selected from the User List Accounts = A list of the user's accounts 12BOB = The administrator has selected the account named 12BOB Items = A list of the items an account contains Item32 = The item that the administrator selected Edit = The action that the administrator wants to do. I can picture how this would look like if it was using ASP.NET MVC with the URL, but I am unsure how to map this out using Webforms, and in the physical filesystem.
This is what I have thought up about how I am guessing the physical structure would look like. Will this have to use session variables to achieve what I am trying to do?
/Users/User/Edit.aspx <- for editing a user /Users/User/View.aspx <- for viewing a user /Users/User/Accounts/Default.aspx <- for viewing all accounts /Users/User/Accounts/Account/View.aspx <- for viewing an account /Users/User/Accounts/Account/Edit.aspx <- for editing an account /Users/User/Accounts/Account/Items/Default.aspx <- for viewing all items in an account /Users/User/Accounts/Account/Items/Item/Edit.aspx <- for editing an item
Where can I read more about this kind of setup in a web application? Or, can someone point me in the direction of an available project that has this kind of layout?
I want to open B site as new window from A site, so its ask for windows credential. I have credential in A site. I am opening B site using Javascript.window.open.
I want to deploy a website in a computer where no webmatrix is installed. What are the requirement to run the website without webmatrix? And how do I configure IIS to run in startup with the site path?
i have an asp.net website which contains a link to a legacy site written in classic asp which has vb 6 classes (dll) in the back ground also.here is what i am trying to achieve:-i want to browse to the asp.net website using IE7,then when the link is clicked then enters the classic asp site i want to start debugging the classic asp and step through it.(also to make things worse, once a the vb6 class is instanciated, and a call make to its method i want to debug the method in the vb 6 code)My system :- XP Pro, IIS 5, Visual Studio 2005 (asp.net project ), Visual interdev 6 (classic asp project) Visual Basic 6 (vb 6 classes compiled into dll)i have been trying everything with no joy, there is lots on the net but nothing seems to have worked.i have the back office components installed so asp debugging is possible, i have configured the asp website s debugging is turned on.if i add a breakpoint to the classic asp site and hit the start button in visual interdev i can step through it fine.My problem is that if i attach interdev to a process (iexplorer.exe or dll.host) then the breakpoints are not hit. if anyone can help me with this it would be great.ont top of that, if anyone can explain to me how to also debug the vb6 dll code in visual basic 6 when it is called from the classic asp site that would be great!
