I've got a small linkbox on the side of my page that is rendered as a PartialView. In it I have a dropDownlist the should change the routing value of the links in the box but I'm having difficulty doing so.My current plan is to call on something similar to a Ajax.ActionLink to reload the partial view into the with a different parameter based on the value of the dropdown selection.
<%= Html.DropDownList("DropDownList1", new SelectList(Model, "ID", "Name"), "--Pick--", new { AutoPostBack = "true", onchange = "maybe something here" })%>
My situation is a little strange I guess, suggestion of engineering is acceptable.I have a DropDownList, on my "user" creation, called "city". When I'm creating the user I can create other city, but for this I have a button which redirect to other page. So, ok. I've created the new City and now I click on my DropDownList of cities and guess what?! The field is not reloaded. My first idea is every that I click on DropDownList, reload the data, but I can't find some OnClick action for Asp.Net DropDownList.
I'm using a LinqDataSource with a RadGrid. When I Add a new Grid item and click insert the values are immediately saved to the database. Is there a way where they can be actually not put in the database until I give the command?
I have been creating a website using the SQLMembershipProvider. I have been using an administration account to create the back-end system for generating the users fine for about 2 weeks. I now have more users created and I can log in fine. However, when I log in as the newly created users, they can get to the page they are after, but if they refresh the page or redirect to another page, they get redirected to the login page. I have checked permissions, iis recycler, session state and security setting in my web.config (posted below) but nothing has fixed it. It cannot be IIS because it does it on my development machine as well as on the actual webserver and it works fine for the admin user.
I need some help in the technical approach with the following scenario:-
1) A dropdownlist with some options. It has a postback action on the selectedIndexChange server side event handler. For example, lets say it contains language options such as english, french etc.
2) Repeater with a label and the textbox control. For example label is Emp Name and textbox is containing the Emp Designation. We have to save emp designation in the various languages.
3) Every time i pick something from the dropdown, i have to flip the textbox control and fill the form. Now i want to save the given data of the texbox in the viewstate. So that every time, the user changes the dropdown selection, he can see the repeater data corresponding to the dropdown selection.
4) I guess some kind of relationship between the dropdown option and the repeater data is needed. But how can we make this thing work.
Now which is the best technique to save the data on the server side? I have to keep it in the viewstate.
In 95% of cases, this HTML will be enclosed in <DIV> with a "size:auto".I have seen a few examples that contain the browser control but all of them need a width/height specification.Basically, what I am looking for is the ability to let my user make part of an HTML document and encapsulate that HTML in an image for later viewing.
I want to use this jquery script, basically i am using it as a sales goal progress bar, where the number before the span is the current sales. But my issue is my sales are going to be in asp.net labels not in plain text
I have read about the file upload control in asp.net and tried it and works great. But I want to know if I can use it for another purpose. I have a video capture control that can be used for webcam apps or anything else. It has a method called HTTPUpload where it will upload an image file to the server using the HTTP upload protocol. My question is can i use the .net FileUpload control for this? And if so, how can I pass the image file straight to the .aspx page without having to submit a button? Would the file be as a query string variable?
Arguments: WebServer = web server address WebPage = name of upload web page Fields = list of 'fieldname' and 'fieldvalue' values delimited with '|' Files = list of 'fieldname' and 'file path' values delimited with '|' Returns TRUE if successful, or FALSE otherwise. Example vcx.HTTPUpload "[URL] , "upload.asp", "field1|value1|field2|value2" , "file1|c:foldermypic.jpg|file2|c:foldermyvideo.avi"
I am showing some information on mouse hovering on the links. I am doing this by making an AJAX call on mouse hover the the links and fetching the data from database.
Problem is that if I mouse hover several times on the same link it will make the AJAX call and hit the database in each time. But I want if it once fetch the data from the database for a specific link on second time mouse hover it should not hit the database again. For this I need to store the data in client side some where and reuse it(I think).
What is the best approach to handle this situation?
P.S: I am having more than 20 such links in the page.
I wish to do a modal popup window. I am new to AjaxControlToolkit. provide tutorial links explaining the necessary things to do this in a step by step manner.
As I'm learning the ins and outs of ASP.NET user management, I've learned that the default in VS is for it to use a SQL Server Express .mdf file for the data it needs to save. This won't help me for when I deploy my site, as I'm running SQL Server 2008 R2 on my IIS 7.5 server. I know that I can run a command line tool to automatically create the db tables necessary for user management, and will do that on my development machine, but how do I tell my existing, in development code in VS to ignore the existing Express .mdf file and look at the newly created db tables?
iam new to AJAX i need a help from you guys. i have 4 main links in the page when any of these link is clicked its submenu (say 3 submenu) should load in AccordionPane.
I currently have an asp.net page which a loggd in user goes to and theres a bunch of dynamically generated links to zip files that he or she owns and can downloads.Currently they click download and I have no way of knowing if it completes succesfully etc so can't log it. I do log the attempt. Is there are good download manager or solution I can use so they will have progress bars on the site, they can queue multiple ones up and most importantly I can track failed and successful downloads.
I'm implement Comet in Asp.net MVC, I used timer to keep Async request in server, Async request will complete when timer elapsed 1 minute and response to client (to avoid 404 error) and then reconnect to Async Controller. I also wanna execute some Synchronous action during Async request was holding, but the problem is: When an Async action was executed and hold by using timer, the Sync Action wasn't called until Async action (comet long-live request) completed. I did test with firefox 3.6 many times, but the result is the same, so strange, Do you know why ? I have a sub some questions : To implement comet, using timer (response after some minutes elapsed) or thread (response after several time sleeping thread) to hold async request, which is better?
I am desiging a master and details page from a search page..user can search for something and I need to display the result in jqgrid if the result has more than 1 row or record.. if the result is just one record then i have to directly send then to details page by skiping grid page... I do have an action method for results page and one more action method for Jqgrid data..i am trying to check the row count for the database result and trying to redirect to details action results..but its not working at all..and showing an empty jqgrid..
Lets say I have a simple controller for ASP.NET MVC I want to test. I want to test that a controller action (Foo, in this case) simply returns a link to another action (Bar, in this case). How would you test TestController.Foo? (either the first or second link)
My implementation has the same link twice. One passes the url throw ViewData[]. This seems more testable to me, as I can check the ViewData collection returned from Foo(). Even this way though, I don't know how to validate the url itself without making dependencies on routing. The controller:
public class TestController : Controller { public ActionResult Foo()[code].....
My httppost action doesnt seem to have received my model. The code is below;
[Code]....
i put a breakpoint on the line; return RedirectToAction("Error", "Dashboard"); and i found that appQualif carried no values whatsoever from the form i submitted..
I'm working on a forum application using MVC 2.0. I've built a basic page listing all the forum posts, held in a database and I've added a simple section on the bottom for a user to add a new post:
<% using (Ajax.BeginForm("AddChat", "Chat", new { text = Model.AddChat.Text}, new AjaxOptions { OnSuccess = "handleSuccess" })) {%> <%: Html.ValidationSummary(true)%> <fieldset> <legend>Fields</legend> [code]....
