Append Attribute To HTML Tag In Content Page?
Aug 24, 2010
I have an ASP.NET content page. The HTML tag associated with the content page is declared in the master page. I need to add an attribute to the HTML tag from the content page. My problem is, I do not know how to access this HTML tag from the content page.

I'm very new to ASP.net. I have a c# content page, in which I want to inset this code half way down within the HTML:
<%
HttpResponse r = Response;
r.Write(HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["SERVER_NAME"]);
%>
But when I view the page, this content comes out first, before even the tag.
how to get this code inline instead?

I'm new to jQuery so this may be a real simple answer. I have a ASP.NET project that I'm trying to dynamically add content to an ASP Label element by typing into a text box and clicking a button. Sounds simple right? Well, I can get the content to added, but when the form is submitted the Label element is still empty? Why is the new data not submitted? Here's some sample code:
<asp:Label ID="lblContainer" Text="" runat="server" />
<input type="text" name="tag" id="tag" />
<input type="button" name="AddTag" value="Add" class="button" onclick="addTag();" />
function addTag() {
if ($("#tag").val() != "") {
$("#lblContainer").append('$("#tag").val()' + '<br />');
$("#tag").val("");
}
}

I have a set of links that exist in the master page. I have a css class i would like to assign to a particular one of them depending on if that is the page you are at during page load. ex: Home will have the current_page_item class if you are at the index page
This is what I have:
Code:
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
DirectCast(Me.Master.FindControl("ctl00_homeLi"), HtmlGenericControl).Attributes.Add("class", "'current_page_item'")
End Sub

I have one master page that is used to gather information from a user. It contains asp.net labels and textboxes within a table. For example, the master page contains fields for Name , Phone, Address, etc.
There are content pages that are created to add to the information that needs to be gathered. For example, the content page, Loan Application, could ask for Loan Amount, LTV, etc.
In addition to this, certain content page forms do not need to show a particular master page field. For example, the content page may not need to ask for Phone.
The table rows are stored as public properties in the master page so I can hide them in the content page code behind.
public bool HomePhoneRow
{
set { trHomePhone.Visible = value; }
get { return trHomePhone.Visible; }
}
So, in the content page code behind, I have this:
Master.HomePhoneRow = false;
The functionality works perfect, but I don't like how the space is reserved on the page. You can tell that a row was removed. I've tried style="border-collapse:collapse" on both the <table> and <tr> elements. I've also tried to set the row height as a public property and alter that.

I have MasterPage.master and 3 page that use this masterpage
1-home.aspx
2-product.aspx
3-information.aspx
in masterpage I defive 3 DIV
<div id="Home" runat="server"></div> <div id="Product" runat="server">
</div> <div id="Information" runat="server"></div>
I want in Home.aspx it change <div id="Home"> Background's image so I wrote below code in home.aspx behind code:
Home.Style["background-image"]=Page.ResolveUrl("~/Images/Extra/H.jpg"); but this error happen: the name Home doesn't exist in the current context
I think it happen because I define divĀ in masterpage not in home.aspx so if I want do it what should I do?

Its a content page with a Master page.
It has a grid inside an UpdatePanel which is Triggered by a Timer.
On the specified time grid data is refreshed.
Everytime this happens we see a new warning in the EventLog.

I am using the HTML Editor with a database, which works fine. All the instructions I find show the output on the same page as the Editor - which to me doesn't make much sense... at least not for how I want to use it. I believe I need to use the Literal control, but I can't find a clear example.
If I have Editor1 on page "edit.aspx" which submits the content to database db.mdb, using fields "id" and "fldContent", how can I display the content on another page "view.aspx"?

I've been tryin to find an example of the syntax for getting an html 'title' for a string when using Html.Encode(). I want to display the full name in the mouseover title, if it's too long.
Is there a way to do this without wrapping the string in a < span >, i.e.
<span title = "<%=Html.Encode(model.Name) %>"> //displays the full name on mouseover
<%=Html.Encode(model.Name.Substring(0, 10))%>... //displays the name up to a max length
</span>
Or should I just do it this way?

I am working in a CMS where we use tokens ( which is turned into a user control. Is there a way to add the user control into an attribute value for our template style? example :
<div class="<$tokenName/$>" />
this currently outputs an encoded user control, which is then not parsed by IIS.

I'm trying to add a new html attribute to my ValidationSummary Html control like this:
<%= Html.ValidationSummary(new { id = "validationSummary" })%>
VS compiler has no problem with it, however when it comes to running it in the browser I get the nasty error message saying:
'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper<Adgistics.Mvc.ViewModels.Forum.IForumCreateOutModel>' does not contain a definition for 'ValidationSummary' and the best extension method overload 'System.Web.Mvc.Html.ValidationExtensions.ValidationSummary(System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper, string)' has some invalid arguments

I would like to have this piece of code in my .aspx file:
<input class="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" type="button" name="BtnOK" id="Button2"
value="Close"
onclick="javascript:HandleOKButtonClick()"
accesskey="<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>" />
Unfortunately, ASP.net doesn't seem to like that:
An error occurred during the processing of /_layouts/MyPage/Info.aspx. Literal expressions like '<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>' are not allowed. Use <asp:Literal runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>" /> instead
That doesn't work in this situation as that would mean nesting the Literal between the quotes of the accesskey attribute, which causes a "The tag contains duplicate 'ID' attributes" error.
Is there a way to use a string from a resource without having to change the input to an asp:Button? I guess there has to be a way using <%=, but I don't know how I would address the resource itself?

I'm using this Ajax script [URL] to load content from an aspx page on another server than the page calling the content. So far I've learned that this is a no go. The problem seems to be that when using an absolute link to content the script fails as apposed to using a relative link.
I've searched the web for about 10 hours now, and I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
