With Visual Studio 2010, .NET Framework v4, Visual Basic.
Suppose you want to create some DLL. It will have many classes and methods. There is some information which will be used by many methods. I would like to hand over the information to the DLL once, and the DLL should store it in some place where any method can access it.
The DLL will be used both from within an EXE and from within an ASP.NET application.
We are using Sitecore.NET 5.3.1 (rev. 071114) and we found out a problem. When we are trying to change information in a Rich Text Editor field on the Master database and save the information, this information is not stored and instead the old information appears back into the RTE field. I have been trying this on the Web database on which this is not happening. However, changing this information on the web database feels useless because a publish will just change every information that does not correspond to the data in the Master database in which i just can't edit this field. So I'm having big trouble at this point since this is for one of our bigger customers and they really want this fixxed asap.
I wanna save what links a user clicks on in a website. I thought of creating a jquery function that would save the link name everytime a link is clicked , then ajax the info to the db after the user closes the site.
Does that sound like a proper way. Anyone have samples of that?
Since there are multiple pages with multpile links, I wanna create something equivalient to a Session variable in javascript so I can append info to it everytime a user clicks a link and send the info only once to the db, instead of everytime a user clicks a link open a db connection and send the info.
The links are products so I wanna save related products, so I wanna save related product infomation. Maybe I need a cookie instead?
I'm working on building a Web Forms app to process an online application that users enter in. This application takes one set of person info (name, address, etc..) and then can take X number of several other sets of information. I have the database design set up to handle the information (and all the keys/relationships). Where I'm having a problem is deciding the best way to handle taking the information on the web form.
Currently I'm thinking to build each set of information into its own user control and then trying to dynamically add an instance of the user control onto the page as needed to take each set of information. For instance, if one person has 3 personal references, they could have a button to keep adding reference controls until they put in all the information. So you'd start with 0 controls, click add to have 1, click to add a second, etc. I've read a lot of posts about issues regenerating the control, or problems with static variables when multiple people are using the same form and control counts being off. Am I taking the right approach to this project or is there an easier way I'm not aware of?
We are in the midst of developing WEB application using .NET. so, i would like to know the Best practises for ASP.NET development, SQL server db, IIS security and network security as well. Where to get the information? I googled for it, but i cannot get the complete set and the info was updated 7 years ago. [URL]
I've many wifi access point that are giving me connection inside an intranet, every access point is located in a wanted position of course, and my big problem is to know to which access point i'm connected trough a web page!Let me say access point named "A", and access point named "B", i must retrieve, with a web page, to which access point the client is connected because in that way i'll get the right position of my mobile
I want to read some information from an xml file and store it ready in memory so that it can go out with every page response without being reloaded from the xml on every request.
What is the best way of doing this?
It looks to me like there are 2 options. Either create a class with static fields that the information is stored in. Or create a class with public fields that the info is stored in and create an instance of that class at application level.
Is that correct, are both of those options viable? or will I not be able to access the fields in the second method without creating an instance of the class in the code that responds to the page request(basically if you create an instance of a class at application level can you use that instance from within code anywhere in your website as long as it is public)?
I have an application called barcode available on a server on the web. The application is used to generate barcodes. The user is able to save her progress directly on her desktop, however though whenever the user try to load the saved progress. It is doesnt remotely connect to the server, instead, it defaults only the saved copy on her desktop. so for example
we have the following aspx created
barcoded.aspx. The barcoded.aspx is available on the server. the page has the following information
Name: PRT321-1 Code: 456789-1000
Label: 678900-001-001
Now, this information is saved as webpage.html. however though, when the user goes to the saved location and clicks on the saved copy, it automatically load the copy as a webpage and allow the user continue with the modification online but that is not the case. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.
I used the following link to add textboxes inside Gridview and saving data to Database.URL...The above article is very useful, but my problem is I want the Textboxes to be display in Rowwise instead of Columnwise. Means like I need to display is Â
Name  texbox1                                                   Age     texbox2                                                   Salary  texbox3                                                                Â
SAVEÂ ButtonThen SAVE button to save data entered in the textboxes to the database. Gridview design to achieve like this.
I have a multiview inside an updatepanel. in one of the views, I save a value in a session object like this:
Session["xyz"] = "some string value";
Then I switch to another view and try to pick it up the value in a button's OnClick event:
string x = Session["xyz"].ToString();
But I get a null reference error. Debugging it shows that Session["xyz"] is indeed null, yet other Session variables are still there. Is there something special about Session and AJAX?
I need to keep access settings to different web pages inside of my asp.net application. These setting are logins and passwords for those pages. Is it safe enough to keep them in web.config in section?
I am saving grid data. Grid contains one textbox in item template column. But it was not saving any data, which was entered in textbox(Just saving 'NULL'). There was not error while debugging. Below is code i am using.
I am making an online form (literal form) that needs to have a certain function: when the user enters a 5-digit number, the form should automatically query the MS SQL DB and retrieve information associated to that number and populate other form elements (text boxes, etc.) accordingly.
So say the # was 12345 and in the DB, the record matching 12345 has name=Fred. So, when I enter 12345 into the form textbox, the name text box should be automatically populated with Fred in it.
If this is not easily achievable, I guess a submit button beside the 5-digit number text box can do.
I am still learning my way around ASP.NET and Visual Studio 2005, however I have ample experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C/C++. The ASP.NET app is to be written in C#.
I am looking details on the internal working of asp.net architecture. The topics need to include the following:
Asp.Net Thread/Application Pools HttpRuntime HttpApplication - When and how it is set up How HttpContext is set up How objects can passed along the pipeline using HttpContext.Current.Items Why does modification of static variables requires locks in ASP.NET (advanced)IIS 7 Integration Mode
i want to create a centralised business or Service authendication architecture in .net. for example, we have a clients like c1, c2, c3, c4, ... etc. everybody logins seperatly as well as grouply. ie, if client "C1" logins [with login authentication] he can access c2 , c3, c4 also without login authendication. So its like a google. if we enters gmail account, we can access orkut, picasa like that.. i need the cetralised architecture.
And, client "c1" seperately asks seperately how will be the authendication architecture.
so give me the single solution for both these two scenarios. how will be the architecture for these two and how is the Data Base (Login) Structure.
recently i've studied on ADO.NET's Entity Model Framework and say 'wow' as ORM is one of the fevourite pattern i practice..but suddenly i've come to an ambiguous situation when i'm going to start. i usually follow the following 3-tier architecture..
1. UI Layer 2. BLL - business logic layer 3. DAL - Data Access Layer a. DTO / DAO b. Gateway (contains the sql query/stored procedure and connection with DB)
now when i'm going to use the Entity Model Design, where the DBML/ .edmx File should be placed? Because many a times i'm using the DBML file as DTO because of the mapped objects.. in the same time, sometimes DBML ( .edmx file in .NET 4.0) contains CRUD methods and stored procedured method as well as methods with different selection operations,- which should be in Gateway. so where the .edmx file should be placed !?!! IN DTO namespace !? or in Gateway namespace!
moreover sometimes there is no need for the BLL which breaks the rules of inter-layer-communication (UI > BLL > DAL.Gateway)! what makes me confuse is, what should be the ideal n-tier architecture when i'll use the ADO.NET Entity Model Design Framework
I am working on 3 tier architecture: UI, BL, DAL. In my UI i have following code for Asynchronous page processing:
[Code]....
But I want a database fetch operation to be performed in this asyncronous method. And due to 3 tier arch. i am unable to do this in UI Layer. Can anyone guide me that how can I implement Asynchronous processing in 3 tier architecture? Note: If you are going to place EndAsyncWork1 in DAL then show that how can I return a value back to UI layer from this function.
I want to know that What are the factors if we use methods on each .cs page for connection and executing query on each aspx code behind page rather then using BAL .
How our application get affected in terms of performance and speed or other way?
when we put our website on server after publish/compile in general approach (using query in C# code behind) rathor than using stored procedures?
I have implemented the 3-tier architecture project; DAL, BAL, and presentation layer are three layers in it. I am going to implement the following scenario:
Presentation layer calls to a function in the BAL layer which returns 2 string variable, and in turn this function from BAL layer calls to a DAL layer function which also returns 2 string variable. How can I implement the above scenario?
I'm developing a n-tier architecture... I'm confused with handling exception in the layers... Is it a good practise to add a Exception Layer to the architecture.
I am a newbie to asp.net and work in a firm where the projects are quite small.
I was told by my manager that in a few weeks or so we would be getting a bigger project and I need to be well versed with Design Patterns and N tier arcihtecture.
I would really appreciate if someone could provide me some links and also drop me a few sentences on how this things are useful?
I am going to create the SAAS (Software as a service) Application. Can you please provide all the attributes that we have to consider in SAAS application (for example usability, pluggable architecture etc .. )
How architecture should be build for this project, provide sample architecture for SAAS application. This architecture should be easy to upload and upgrade or degrade the features. Error handling should be easy.
I am try to create architecture design for WCF service.
We have WCF service that we have to expose to third party so then can request with xml and get back xml response.
The wcf service should do the following:
- Accept the request call with xml
- Check xml against the schema
- Parse the xml
- Authenticate the incoming xml by username and password that will be in xml
- Send back the response
If anybody can let me know what kind of design I can use or is there any pattern available that I can take it and then extend it as per my requirement.
