C# .net Windows Application Setup Not Running In Windows 7
Apr 12, 2010
i have created one windows application in c# .net and its working fine in windows xp, but when i try to install the setup in windows 7 or vista, the setup never runs.. should i have to write some code for it.
Currently we are running an application build in VB6,ASP,Commerce Server2000 and Sql Server 2000. This application is running in Windows 2000 server. Now we are planning to migrate Windows server 2000 to Windows 2008.Will this application run in Windows 2008 or do we need to upgrade this application to dotnet and Sql 2008?
My overall goal is just to get the logged on users information for an Intranet site I'm developing without them providing their login (since they are already logged into their computer). So far I just get 401.1 errors and it keeps asking for my login/password. Even though I provide my login/password, it still won't let me in.
I've Enabled Windows Authentication from IIS > Sites > Default Web Site, added this to my web.config:
Does anybody see any problem running an APS.Net 2.0 application on more than one browser windows at the same time concurrently? Users are accessing the application with IE and they do Control+N and access the same application in another windows and use both windows concurrently. Would there be any issue coming from session or anything such that I need to be concerned?
1)My Windows services application folder is MyWInservice
2)Executable .exe i.e. “myServices .exe“ file located under MyWInservice \myServicesinDebug
3)I have RUN bat file C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727InstallUtil.exe /u "myServices.exe" C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727InstallUtil.exe "myServices.exe"
4)After running InstallUtil, myServices.InstallLog and myServices.InstallStategenerated under .. binDebug folder.
5)Upon pressing F5, I still get the same error. Error is:
Windows Service Start Failure,Cannot start service from the command line or a debugger. A Windows Service must first be installed (using installutil.exe) and then started with the ServerExplorer, Windows Services Administrative tool or the NET START command.
I wasnt sure where this question best belongs, in the end I figured this was the best place...
Say I have a utility dll that i might use in either a windows console application or in an asp.net web application - how can I programatically find whether it is running on web or windows, from within the dll?
I feel like this is something I should know by now, maybe some property of AppDomain.CurrentDomain, or Environment, but I just can't find it.
The reason I'm asking is because I'm playing around with nHibernate for asp and I seem to need different session handling when running in asp.net, compared to when i'm running integration tests. So if someone knows how i can solve this without programatically checking the context of the application, then that'd be great too.
I am running a web application in vs-2008 on windows 2003 server. While execution of .net application, I am getting an error as"Unable to start debugging on the web server. Unable to connect to the web server. Verify that web server is running and that incoming HTTP requests are not blocked by firewall."
I have a ASP.NET application. From that, User register, User will get email after registration. My Req : When user click on link provided in email. Then it should go to my ASP.Net application page . That page should install a wincows application on Client system through web ( I was inspired by Microsoft Windows update from Microsoft site)
We have a website portal hosted in Windows 2003 server. For security reasons we are using different windows Login user say (xxxx) for signin other than Administrator. Now with this user (xxxx) name I installed .net Windows Application. It was working fine. For some reasons I renamed the original windows Login user(xxxx) to different say (yyyy). Now this .net Windows Application is not working with (yyyy) and even it is not allowing me to uninstall it.
I want to create a WebTV site in ASP.NET. At the moment I am thinking of using Flowplayer, serving .flv files. Since it will work with pseudostreaming, IIS will serve various .flv files in a schedule.
Is there a platform/open source package to provide all the clip (and advertisement) scheduling to create the WebTV program? Or do I need to create my own scheduling interface (backend) that will store the .flv schedule in a database, and create e.g. an .aspx that will read the current time and decide which clip to serve?
I am looking for installers of Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK R2 for Smartphone and Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK R2 for Pocket PC, but I just found Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK without R2. From where I can download those installers.?
I want to include installation and registration of Widnows Service in Web Setup. (During Web Site Setup Windows Service also Install and Register on a client machine)
am using a windows service created by me it works fine in debug mode.I have created a setup for installation of windows service and installed it on the same machine. For testing i am creating a notepad file in c:\temp123.txtIts working gr8 in debug mode but not working when installed using a set up . also i have used same set up on another machine. Its not working thr as well. What can be the reason.Note:- two weeks back i have checked it using installer on another machine it was working, but suddenly now its not working any where.
I have 2 machines on a domain. The first machine has IIS 6. 0 inatalled on it, whereas the second machine has published web content.
On the local machine ie. Web server i have configured the website like "A Share located on another computer" Eg: //Machine2/Application1. The pubished web content is inside a shared folder on the remote machine. Finally when i run the application in browser(IE 7.0) i get the following error.
Server Application Unavailable
The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.
Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.
The Error in the Windows event viewer is as follows:
I have created a web app using Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition and have come to the point where I need to publish the site onto my server (which is running window server 2008). I found that the publish function is not limited in the express edition, so published the app to a local file and FTP'd the contents across to my server. I then setup a website through the servers IIS manage and pointed it to the folder containing the FTP'd files.
My question is, how do I run the app? Do I need to point to a specific file?
I have tried to view a number of the files in browser directly from the IIS but keep getting the same standard connection error i.e. "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
I have never used IIS Manager before and I can't find a resource which gives me a step by step guide to setting up a new site which has been created by Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition, are there any config changes needed.
I have a web app that runs on local and use merge replcation using sql server 2005 standard on the server and sql express 2005 on clients on XP. As you know, XP Pro laptops are getting hard to find. We are trying to change to Windows 7 Pro x64. I installed SQL Express 2005 and I don't see a subscription on "Sync Center" after I created local subscription using SSMS. I normally see the subscription in Synchronize in XP Pro right away.
I googled about this issue and not really have a good solution. There is one link saying Windows 7 not supporting Express 2005 anymore. [URL] If so, I would like to know what would be a solution such as can I use Sql Express 2008 R2 instead of Sql Express 2005 for client even if the server is still SQL Server 2005 Standard edition. We are planning to upgrade, but we need to hire 5 to 10 people now. My boss does not want us to keep using XP Pro.
I have developed one software in C# and the database used is sql server 2005. I have completed the software but now I want to provide setup in a autorun CD to my customer. I have prepare setup but I am not able to deliver my database along with my .net code. What I want to do is when user will install my project on his computer using the CD I am suppose to provide, it should install SqlServer Enterprise edition and should use this database. It may means that, setup should create database on the user computer.
I'm more into the LAMP stack, but I've been asked to work on a site that is running Windows and IIS 2008. I'm a beginner with IIS, so please be patient with me on this, and please ask me to provide more information if that is needed to determine. I read the answer here (Slow first page load on asp.net site), but it seems like if I go to the site with one browser it takes long to load the first page, then fast on all other pages, then if I open up another browser, it's the same thing, so it's not something that is saved on the server, but per session? Is there a way to have the application running at all times? Right now it is taking 12 to 15 seconds for the first page to load. I have access to the WebControlCenter and FTP.
Hello all. I created a class that runs fine when using it with web forms, however when i create a Windows service and try to run it I recieve a NullReference error. Im not sure what else to do since the class works fine. Here is a snippet.
The service
public partial class Service1 : ServiceBase { //Timer object Timer RunTime; QBridge bridge_object = new QBridge() double test_interval = 40000; //test value public Service1() { InitializeComponent(); } protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { //Send email notification that intakes were pushed //bridge_object.SendNotification(bridge_object.service_startedtext); RunTime = new Timer(30000); //set the elapsed event RunTime.Elapsed += new ElapsedEventHandler(RunTime_Elapsed); //RunTime.Interval = SetInterval(); //calculated interval RunTime.Interval = test_interval; // test interval RunTime.Enbled = true; //set timer to true //QBridge bridge_object = new QBridge(); //bridge_object.SendNotification("start"); //SendNotification("start"); } protected override void OnStop() { RunTime.Enabled = false; RunTime.Dispose(); try { bridge_object.SendNotification("stop"); } catch (NullReferenceException nre) { System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("Error " + nre); } catch (Exception er) { System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("Error " + er); } //SendNotification("end"); } //Included this to test locally. works fine when just calling the method protected void RunTime_Elapsed(object source, ElapsedEventArgs e) { //SendNotification("run"); try { bridge_object.SendNotification(run); } catch (NullReferenceException nre) { System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("Error " + nre); } catch (Exception er) { System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("Error " + er); } } public void SendNotification(string email_text) { MailMessage initial = new MailMessage(); initial.Bcc.Add(new MailAddress("")); initial.From = new MailAddress(""); initial.Subject = "Web notification"; initial.IsBodyHtml = true; initial.Body = email_text; SmtpClient mailClient = new SmtpClient("192.168.1.1"); try { mailClient.Send(initial); } catch (Exception ex) { } } } Class using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Net.Mail; using System.IO; using System.Configuration; using System.Data.SqlClient; using System.Data; namespace Intake { public class QBridge { SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString); private string login_error; public QBridge() { } public void SendNotification(string email_text) { MailMessage initial = new MailMessage(); initial.Bcc.Add(new MailAddress("")); initial.From = new MailAddress(""); initial.Subject = "Web notification"; initial.IsBodyHtml = true; initial.Body = email_text; SmtpClient mailClient = new SmtpClient("192.168.1.1"); try { mailClient.Send(initial); } catch (Exception ex) { } } } }
I have created three basic websites using VS2010 and they are working fine when invidually run from visual studio. But in order to get the full functionality of the websites, they have to be run simultaneously. There are iframes inside one contaning pages from other website.
What is the way it can be done? Is hosting the only solution to it? If so please tell me how to host them in IIS7( i am currently running on windows 7 release candidate)
