Calculating Years, Months, Days, Hours, Minutes, Seconds Between Two Dates?
Oct 20, 2010
I'm trying to calculate the yrs, months, days, hours, mins, seconds between two dates with sql server or c# (ive just used sql more).
I have some code below that I started, but I get some negative values for months, values over 31 for months, and there very well could be more issues. Honestly my math is not the greatest and Im just not sure how to fix it. I want the user to be able to enter their birthday and for it to calculate the yrs, months, days, hours, mins, and seconds they have been alive.
[Code]....

I'm trying to create a string from the DateTime object which yields the format mm:dd:yyyy. Conventionally the DateTime object comes as mm:dd:yyyy hrs:min:sec AM/PM. Is there a way to quickly remove the hrs:min:sec AM/PM portion of the DateTime so that when I convert it toString() it will only result in mm:dd:yyyy?

I am simply trying to determine age from a selection of Month, Day and Year representing birthdate, which I have captured from three drop down list boxes, by subtracting the studnetBirthDate from Today. How can I get Age? Using a calendar to select birth date seemed too clumsy because of the year navigation, age ranges from 3 to 26 yrs old. If anyone has a better idea I would be open to that as well. Instead I am using three dropdown boxes, one each for day, month and year.
Dim studentBirthDate
As
Date
Dim stMonth
As
String.........

I have been working on a .NET/C# form that contains two time fields that are built out of dropdowns. Time A is made up of two dropdowns for Hours and Minutes and Time B is made up of two drop downs for hours and minutes too. I need to compare the two in order to ensure that Time A is always greater than B. I could just use a CompareValidator to check the hours, that works BUT doesn't take into account the minutes. So lets assume the following scenarios:
A = 11:00 B = 12:15 is fine my validation accepts this as it should do
A = 11:15 B = 11:00 is accepted because the hours are equal but otherwise shouldn't pass as the minutes aren't validated
How would you ensure B is always equal to or greater than A where dropdowns are used? I would if I could change this but not permitted to do so.

In VB how do you return the difference between two dates expressed in years as a decimal.
(DateDiff(DateInterval.Year, DateOne, DateTwo))
So that the result returns a decimal for example 15.76 years and not an integer

I would like to get the accurarte (days, minutes, months and years) differnce between two date time variables and not just who is greater.
Is there a better way to do it then run DateTime's methods (TotalDays, TotalHours, TotalMinutes. etc...) and do the calculation?
The bottom line is to display something like "a minute ago", "an hour ago", "Three weeks ago", etc...

I'm trying to create a calendar control that is linked to a SQL database.
The meaning is to create an event calendar were the user can put in his info at a reservation page.
After filling everything in, the info is stored in a table on the database, the users must give in a start date of there reservation and an end date.
Now, I got everything to work so far, the calendar reads everything from the database, show it on the calendar and stuff... But only the first day.
I now what code to use for showing the first date, but I have no idea how to show the end date and all the days between.
Also the meaning is that when a person puts in a reservation, the background of the cell turns orange for "pending status", when the owner of the building agrees the color turns red for "reserved - not available"
This is the code I use for showing the dates:
