Aug 15, 2010I am trying to run this log routine in a separate thread in order to improve page load performance but I am getting an error in the line bellow: "object not set to an instance of a variable".
line error: strTempBrowser = System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["HTTP_USER_AGENT"].ToString();
I am suspecting that Request.ServerVariables are not available during the time that the thread executes. Is there a workaround?

Request.ServerVariables Not Updated When Simultaneous Login From 2 Machines
Dec 7, 2010I'm using IIS 7.0 on WS2008. I've implemented a simple login page that redirects to another simple page showing the Request.ServerVariables key/values. I'm using the built-in SQL membership provider. The website is on a DEV machine and there are no users on it.
When I login at the same time with 2 different users from 2 different locations (2 different public addresses) then one of the Request.ServerVariables page is the same as the other. That includes the client IP address which is then completely wrong. The authentication as well as the other cookies are wrong as well.
I checked the IIS log and it shows the correct client address as well as the correct login name. If I then reload the wrong page I get the correct data. Is there some concurrency issue in ASP.NET? I disabled the session and caching but I still get the same behaviour.

but now we have upgraded to IIS 7 and Windows 2008 if i use the same statement it is not returning me any value.

Jan 6, 2011I am developing an internal application in .NET which tracks computer name and give access only if they match users which are in a users table in database. When i tested in my local machine and in production server, I am able to get computer name. But for few users the application just don't work since Request.ServerVariables["REMOTE_USER"] is returning empty values. For myself and even for few users we can get computer name with Request.ServerVariables["REMOTE_USER"] but for few users it returns empty values.I even tried using Request.ServerVariables["LOGON_USER"] and WindowsIdentity funtions, but still getting empty values.

With the code below my content_1 list item is set to active, I would like to have the active tab changed if say I selected a content_3 link from another page and I would like to set a custom url that will set content_3 to active when i go to the page with the list.

I can change attributes on buttons and the like, but not on images? btnID.Style.Add("display", "inline") This works for a btn, but if I try to use this code to reference image (or even just try to make the image disappear) - it does not work Further info: I am using this code on a drop down list - basically when the user makes a selection i want to remove an image (make it invisible or visible) or change its display attribute (e.g. to inline). It does work ok for a real btn - but i can't reference an image ID.

Apr 4, 2010I'm trying to create a table with Listview and one of the fields I'm using is supposed to show a hyperlink to a more detailed view of the data shown, how I want to do that is by using FindControl on the ID of that item and then changing the value into a hyperlink of the detailed view page with a querystring attached, the problem is that I have no idea how to re-insert that data back into the listview field, which looks something like this:

May 19, 2010i have a DropDownList, which is inside an UpdatePanel. Now my problem is that, for example, lets say there are 3 item, Item1, Item2, Item3.
Now Item1 is the default, and i have code in codebehind that gets the value of the selected DropDownList, so for example, my code:

Now the problem is that, once it is in an update panel, when you change the list to another item, so for example, i changed the list to "Item2", it will still be showing the first value of "Item1", i could have used Autopostback to get what i need, but then i wouldnt see the point in using update panel, since i dont want my page to flick.
Is there a way, or code to write that whenever the value of the DropDownList is changed, and i click my button, it will actually get the currently selected value, and not the virst default value,

When this is pressed, I want it to check every checkbox in the gridview and save the dataset back to the xml file.
