I'm new to silverlight and sketchflow. I'm getting on great with creating prototypes and can export to Word etc.
I would really like to embed a prototype in another web page - is this possible and how would I go about it?

View 5 RepliesMy application plays movies from specific positions, so even a position mentioned in milliseconds matters for me. I'm assigning a position to a media element but it's showing the wrong frame. I don't know why media player is not playing from the position that I'm giving. Here is some sample code:

I would like to allow users to call my ruby on rails app as a service which returns a 'div' with html content in it, and embed that div into their app (which will not be a rails application).
For example, assume someone has their own php website that has a header/footer template that gets rendered, and a content area of the page that they need to fill based on some html I generate in my rails app. I would like to allow them, from php, to call to my website, get the 'div' I generate, and embed that as html in their php page.
What I'm trying to do is host a service on my site that returns some html content, but actually show that content as part of another site, so that the end user only sees the other site and never really knows about mine.
Also, I can use javascript on the client to do this if that is the only way, but I would prefer the php app to handle this at the server if possible so the client gets the html embedded from the original server and it looks like it all was generated by the php script that generated the entire page. I also want to avoid using an iframe.

View 6 RepliesI've created a silverlight application, MainPage.xaml has silverlight controls. The code behind of it will be definately in MainPage.xaml.cs file. When creating a silverlight app, I've selected a default web project wherein this silverlight app will be hosted and run. After all my work in MainPage.xaml.cs file, I want to integrate it in my default.aspx file. As i understand, I need to give reference to xap file in this aspx file. I tried accessing
<asp:Silverlight ID="xx" runat="Server.. />
tag but had no luck. This tag does not come up, Am i missing to add reference to any silverlight dll to my web application. Or is this tag applicable for Silverlight 2.0 and not 3.0 which I'm using:

i have the following bit of code... is there a way to embed a media player into a webpage (such as windows media player) and play a file on it without actually having to have windows media player installed?
so to clarify, can i play a windows media player in a webpage without having it installed? because at the moment the follwing bit of code only plays my files asfter i installed windows media player on my PC.

I am having trouble accessing an embedded Silverlight 2 media player in an aspx page from Javascript and was hoping someone might offer some insight on what's going on.
What I want to do is fire a javascript event on the client when a button is pressed to change the Silverlight media player media source and then play the newly selected file.
I found what seemed like a pretty straightforward example on the silverlight.net site that looked like this:

However, when I run it, I get an error "undefinedObject doesn't support this property or method".
I've confirmed that the client-side id I am using is correct, and I have tried using document.GetElementByID in place of $find (which is what I use elsewhere on the site successfully; my javascript kung fu is weak and I'm not precisely sure what the difference
might be) but it still doesn't work. It all seems like it should work as it was presented in the example, but I only get that error.
I am using VSTS 2008 + C# + .Net 3.5 + Silverlight 3.0 + ASP.Net to develop a Silverlight application (a video media player) in browser and the function is simple, just use MediaElement to play a remote video file.The remote server is Windows Server 2008 + IIS 7.0 + IIS Media Bit Rate Throttling Control.Since the request media URL can be discovered (e.g. from traffic sniffer), and I want to know how to prevent from download directly from the Url? i.e. I want end user to use my Silverlight media player application in browser to play the file, prevent them from download to local directly. Any easy and quick solution or reference code/documents?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to implement a media player on my web page using Visual Studio 2010 and it's 'toolkit'.
In the toolbox i right click on general->Choose Item->Com Components and select Windows Media player.
But nothing is happening.
If I right click on the general tab and press 'Show All' both the windows media player accor but the icon are like 'invisible' and you can't drag it into the design window.
A second question, if I want to use a different media player, how does I do that? I.e. VLC...
how can I embed .swf file in a web page and play successfully?

View 2 RepliesI have a pure silverlight website with navigation. Im worried about the customers that are hitting the website and are leaving straight away because they are have to have the SL plugin installed and they also have to wait for the 1.5 meg xap file to download.
The first page of the silverlight application is the login/registration page where the user must login or register to proceed to any other page in the site. Im thinking about swapping this page out for an ASP.net MVC webpage. So when the user hits the site the first page loads up automatically (since it will be the ASP.net MVC part of the site) and as they are signing up or logging in, the silverlight app is downloading in the background, or if they dont have the plugin than i will handle it a bit more gracefully. Once they log in it will pass them over to the silverlight app.
I have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc.
Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.
We have a ASP.NET web application written in VB.NET where we build content programmatically during the Init event.
We make extensive use of user controls, building them on the fly, and I now want to start including SilverLight content.
Is there an easy way of embedding a SilverLight application in a control, and then instantiating the whole thing in code, in the same way as you'd programmatically add ordinary ASP.NET controls to a page?
The SilverLight component itself works fine when added to a page using the <object> tag but I really want to be able to reuse it elsewhere in code.
Since I'm expecting use of SilverLight to increase in our application, and the asp:Silverlight control seems now to be deprecated, I'm looking for an alternative way of wrapping the content.
I am using the media player and real player video controls they work fine in ie. How can I check they are installed in all main browsers like firefox and chrome and ie if not installed ?.
