View 3 RepliesI have hosted my website in iis in windows xp.
When i entered the ip address in my system, it works fine but when i tried it in other machine, it is not working. It leaves me Connection Time Out Error.
I have a designed a website for my company i need to open that website url only with in my network.
I have used sql server 2005 and visual studio web developer to develop my website.
I have VWD 2010 Express installed. While developing I would like my co-workers to test the application (the parts that are "finished"). When I click "View in browser" for some web form of my application or "Start debugging" the app is shown in my browser at:
http://localhost:3424/Default.aspx
My IP on local network is 192.168.1.14. How can my co-workers access this page?
Note: I do not have IIS instaled (just ASP.NET Development Server).
i have deployed my new website in IIS when i tested in browser its working fine but its not working on network systems,i have my old website with port 3185 and new one is 3186 , the old one is working fine but the new web is not working
View 1 RepliesThere is a hyperlink to a local file...for instance....C:/text.txt. This is not possible, because ASP.net does not allow links to local files. But, links to files on network drives such as W:/test.txt are working ok. how does the browser know which drive letter is local, and which is networked? How does it know that C: is local or D: is local etc, and that W: is a network drive?
View 1 Replies I have attempted to deploy my first WEB application and needed to include the Membership for Internet login. Application works fine when I use Visual Web Developer, but when I deploy to my provider when I attempt to Login, I eventually get the error message (this was after I turned on the debug="true" - full message is

When I copied the application to the WebSite, I assumed that the ASPNETDB.MDF needed to be copied too with everything that I defined for users and roles. Looked at the WEB.CONFIG and expected to see something defined here as to where it is located, etc. Do not see anything in my project with the name.
Is it worth while considering a CDN for a UK hosted site with mostly UK traffic.
The server is in London, so I am not sure if it would be worth it as I guess any CDN server is just going to be in London as well?
Am I right in thinking that CDN is really only applicable for US websites (due to the geographical size of the country) and global sites?
My host moved my website to a new server. The DNS configuration is correct but the website is still down and I'm getting this message
"unable to open website at www.aboutmecfs.org. Internal Server error"
There's a project I'm doing now which is an ASP.net 2.0 written website with SQL database. (it was just assigned to me for deployment and no contact to programmer who is AWOL :-)
Scope of project is to move everything from live site to local server and display/execute exactly the way it does on the livesite (web).
Already configured Windows 2003 server as IIS and successfully restored the database through SQL 2008.
Since I am new to ASP.net deployment this is where my trouble starts: manually copied httpdocs folder to local server, copy website through MS web developer and tried to run it on local machine http://127.0.x.x/default.aspx for the home page. from there I am getting a server error log specifically the line " <configuration xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/.NetConfiguration/v2.0">"
I know I have some work to do in here I do want to call the attention of ghw123 since he
is familiar with the dynamics of IIS and moving websites. Another thing I would like to point is the local server doesn't display any IP address when running ipconfig or ping from command prompt i simply pull out the ip info from the running IIS service itself. Lastly, I need to figure out which file/folders are really running on the livesite since there are lots of them (for other purpose maybe) on the remote server it is hosted.
I am developing a website in ASP.NET. I wanted to know how can I give a static path to my website on my local mahcine such that it will always be deployed on port number. For eg: in php, the path can always be http://localhost/websitename
but in ASP.NET, whenever, I debug the website for testing, it is always deployed to a new port number. This prevents me from testing my script which can only be given a static name in Greasemonkey.
In my site on every load some session is made through url and single page(say xyz.aspx) is call every time and on the basis of url we create session. When i click on a href tag , page start reloading ,url we created is accurate but data doesn't change every time, means some time it show data on first click, but some time after 3 or 4 click.
I say problem is weird because when i run this on my local server there is no problem, when i run this on my project (visual studio) there is no problem , but when i up this project on my online server it show this kind of error but not every time .
I use data caching to fill dataset. There is no problem in this website since we created this (more than 1 year) and we don't made any change on this page but suddenly it starts showing this kind of error so what kind of error this is.
I have a solution that has 2 projects in it... Project #1 is a class I created some time back to deal with the basic data connection and passing data back and forth.
The 2nd project is the new current project (web site).
Everything works fine in local mode but after I have compiled Project #1 and created a referance in Project #2 then compiled Project #2 and published to the server...
I am running on Windows 7 64bit, .NET 4.0, Access 2010, SQLExpress (loging only), C#... I have rebuilt Project #1 several times as an x86, AnyCPU, and x64... they all give the same result...
I get the following error when the web site is run.
[Code]....
I have Survey web applications and i need to install it in the local web server in my company
the problem is what correct code to get the real ip for the machines to prevent vote more than one for every employee
note: the company have domain controller and all user belong to Group Policy. I try many Code like
Request.Servervariables("REMOTE_ADDR")
HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR"];
no correct result give me 127.0.0.1 or the server IP
I do not want to do my development based on an emulator, so I want to be able to have my phone (Android), to connect to my local PC to make sure what I am developing comes out the way I want it to.
Issue #1 - I need to be able to connect to my network, not internet, I can't have my PC internet facing, this limits me from opening my PC to the internet.
Issue #2 - No WiFi allowed at my work, security issues.
Issue #3 - I can't publish this to a internet facing site, since the procedure to get it to one, take a few days each publish and will put my development to a crawl.
What I'm looking for, is a way to get my phone to connect to my local PC, maybe via USB/Bluetooth but have access to my local IIS.
I want to use C#/ASP.net to find out whether the user browsing the website is on the same network so that certain links are only displayed while in the office (to those who have access to them).
Anyone accessing from within the office will be doing so by going to it's local IP address (i.e. 192.168.x.x) whereas external users will be browsing to the public domain name.
All I need is some way to differentiate between the two types of user.
I'm new in the WCF and in the web developing ..
I wrote WCF service and i by creating new Web Sites - i added new WCF service that will host my WCF service.
In the 'Web location' i define the service to be HTTP and the URL to be "http://localhost/MyService"
Now i want to access thru some other machine ( in the same network ) to my machine and get using the Service method that my WCF service exposed - but i fail each time ( calling from the second machine "http://a.b.c.d/MyService/interfaceMethodName")
If i try to call the web service thru the same machine - i get the right response.

I want to open an outlook email with HTML formated text. This is working fine when i run it locally with a outlook application object. On the server, this is throwing an error saying An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: The operation failed. I have given all the DCOM permissions. It didn't work.
View 3 RepliesI want to organize twenty-four-hour local network monitoring. Could you tell me about such program? The program has to ping hosts and save results in files on hard drive for viewing.
View 3 Repliesmy projects image files hosts on a local server machine which name is A.
another server hosts my web projects on IIS which name is B.
I want to set my web projects's image file names like image1.ImageURL = "A\foldername\image.png";
but when the projects runs the image file url gets the image url adrress : [URl] I must access the image files which are another server machine on my local network area and I must get the ImageUrl properties from another server machine
I created a website using VS2010. When I run the website using built-in web server, everything works fine. The website recognizes javascript and aurigma uploader. When I publish the website to local folder and tried to access using IIS 5.1 on local pc,
the java scipt files did not work. I was getting yellow triangle sign at the bottom of the page indicating the object is expected. I tried to look online but i could not find any answer. I have included jquery and javascript file in the header section of master
When I press start on my VS2010/Silverlight/C# project, it opens a new instance of the included webserver and opens my browser window so I can test the application. Unfortunately something has happened and I am not sure what it was.. The browser window now opens the starting page with a local machine path (C:...page.aspx) rather than the normal webserver path through http (http://localhost:33592/page.aspx). It is a Silverlight Navigation project using c#/asp.net code behind.
View 2 RepliesI have an asp.net (FW 3.5) web app that runs on an internal network. One specific page needs to "report" in to the web server that it is active and not locked up. I need to be able to run a script (or something) at the client to report the pc's computer name in that report. I cannot find a method that does this. I found several things that would report the WAN IP or host name, but this appears to all be for external facing sites.
