I am using Visual Studio 2008 and my project is a Web Application Project so that I can compile my all files in just one assembly.
It is working but web form code behind files are compileing into single assembly but aspx files are not compiling. In addtion, these aspx files are present in the directories and they can be viewed.
Is there any technique to compile my all files into single assembly?

I have writen a simple asp.net App to display stats in the call center I work in. I was working fine until yesterday afternoon when i started getting the following error
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Core, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. The server is only running windows 2000 teminal so can only run .net 2.0. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Express to write the code and have set the Target Framework to .NET Framework 2.0 under the Properties page and hit the F5 key and it ran fine.

I have an asp.net website application that uses MySQL as the database. It has been working just fine until... I updated from MySQL version 6.1.3 to version 6.3.4. Prior to updating, I uninstalled 6.3.1. I changed my web.config file to reference the new version as well as the machine.config. It works fine on my development machine. I publish the website to the production server and when I browse to this site I get an error:
[Code]....
I have searched the entire server for any text corresponding to "6.3.1.0" but nothing found. It appears like there is something in some configuration reference that has not been updated to the new version of MySQL.

Before using any class in your website project/page we have to add it's assembly reference to our project. Right?
Now, when I am using SmtpClient class from System.Net assembly after adding the System.Net.Mail namespace in namespace node of application's web.config file but without adding assembly reference to the project, it still accepting and running the code. Why?
I enquired the machine's web.config file located at C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727CONFIG but didnt find assembly reference for System.Net there also.
So bit confused how it is working and where the assembly reference has been added and how?

I did the following:
(1) File / New / Web Site
(2) Right-clicked on new website name
(3) Selected "Add New Item..."
(4) Selected Web Form
(5) Didn't see any check boxes for selecting either "Place code in separate file", or "Select master page".
The checkboxes are missing. Is this a configuration problem?

I had made a change to the MasterPage and I would like to publish this to my production server at Server Intellect.
I wanted to know, that since I re-compiled the site, and saw the changes locally, do I now need to FTP all of the files?
Or can I just upload the file that I changed- the MasterPage?
Also, Im planning on making a change to a Class. Can I just upload that .cs file by itself?

I have too many lines in my code behind file. Now it grows up to almost 3500 lines. I wonder if it can be splitted into several files.
To be specify, say I have CustomerEdit.aspx and code behind as CustomerEdit.aspx.cs. In my code behind, most of them are functions taking care of UI (i.e. protected void ... _Click() or protected void ... _SelectedIndexChanged()). I have some private functions, but they usually refer to some UI elements.
Question: Can I safely seperate CustomerEdit.aspx.cs into smaller files like CustomerEdit01.aspx.cs, CustomerEdit02.aspx.cs, etc?

I have code that needs to run in two deployments. Let's call them deployment H and deployment W.
The code is already running in deployment H, and there's an aspx page and an aspx.cs code-behind file. The code is compiled for framework 2.0 which is the lowest common denominator of the two deployments. Deployment H has its own logos and styling which are coded in its aspx file.
Deployment W now wants to use this same page, but it wants its own logos and styling. There are also additional fields on the page that deployment H doesn't need.
I think it's easier to maintain one code base which is why I want the same code-behind file, but I am having trouble figuring out how to set this up in Visual Studio. Orginally, I was going to have two projects, one for W and one for H, but I'd have to make the same changes to both files when some of the common areas changes.

I was working on a .Net 2.0 application. Late at night I upgraded it to .Net v.4. Then, as SVN was complaining I started to do manual conflict resolution. Even later than that I tried to check in my changes, then hit some conflicts so manually merged changes from the two different .csproj files.
I can't get back to where I was and rolling back to the previous version makes me lose all the code that has been written for it.
So I'm looking for a quick/dirty and reliable way of making sure my application code doesn't get lost?

I am running a web-site with simple .aspx files on a standalone workgroup Windows Server 2008 called 'Max'.I had assumed that the .aspx files were accessed by the 'Network Service' account. The application pool for the website is running with 'Network Service' as the process account.I was puzzled, since 'Network Service' had no permission on these files. So I added event level auditing to the files, and I was suprised to learn that the .aspx files were being accessed by an account called Max$ (ie the computer account).this correct ?Why is the Network Service account not being used ??

my aspx web app needs to allow clients to load files (excel files) to some place in the server, to be able to open and read content via OLEDB immediataly after upload. Are there any "best practices" or suggestions about location, naming and security of temporary files folders? Also I need these files to be automatically deleted after use, I would like to be sure they always are. VS 2008/ .net 3.5 framework/ Windows server 2003 and 2008
