Configuration :: ASPX Files Not Compiling In One Assembly?
Dec 15, 2010
I am using Visual Studio 2008 and my project is a Web Application Project so that I can compile my all files in just one assembly.
It is working but web form code behind files are compileing into single assembly but aspx files are not compiling. In addtion, these aspx files are present in the directories and they can be viewed.
Is there any technique to compile my all files into single assembly?

I need to compile a class library (DLL) from an ASP.NET source. Now when I try to build it says this:
The type
'System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize'
is defined in an assembly that is not
referenced. You must add a reference
to assembly 'System, Version=2.0.0.0,
Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.
Now I know that I have to put it in the web.config file. But there is no web.config file it's just the source of the dll that needs to be compiled.

If we are deploying ASP.NET web application, Do we need to copy both *.aspx and *.aspx.cs files on the server?Also what if I am using different framework version? I mean 1.1 / 2.0 /3.0 /3.5 /4.0? What will be the answer in different .NET Framework versions?

I have no experience in ASP.NET development.We have installed a Webmail product from Afterlogic. we have to remove the markup for a logout button. but we are not able to edit the .aspx files. we can remove the markup for the button compleately.but it is still there on the page when we refresh.Do we have to recompile the whole thing each time we make a change ? Is this some sort of cache problem ? We have tried to delete the browser cache. but it had no effect.

I have made an application for some customer that I'm going to transfer to a webhotel.I want to make sure that the application is not copied and used elsewhere without my knowledge. So I have thought of stripping the aspx files from their code behind, that is not the aspx.cs file itself. But from all code inside the cs file, not the one that is automatically generated like page_load etc, but everything else. And when done, then just upload the compiled DLL file(s). Does this work? Are there something to be mindful of if I carry out with this plan.

Apparently, DNN installations do not like to be precompiled (they won't be able to find any localized strings then). Our installation is safely put in SVN, which means I cannot just copy the whole directory. To publish everything, I need to copy the whole website directory without the SVN files and directories. So far, I've been messing with good old DOS commands, which is time consuming and error prone.
an MS-Built script or step to do just this? Or can I do this using default Visual Studio 2010 commands?
Note: this is a website, not a web application.

I want to publish my web application as a single .dll file without all the source code and .aspx markup pages.
I am using VS 2010 with the "Web Deployment Project" add-in. In the compilation settings, I unchecked "make this site updatable" because I want the .aspx files to be compiled as well.
Publishing my web application using the publish feature in VS 2010 works fine, and a single .dll file is created in the "bin" directory.
But all the .aspx markup files are still copied to the web server! I've read that those files are merely marker files which can be deleted, but not in my case. They still contain the whole markup and when I delete them, my application won't run anymore.
It's like I had checked the "make this site updatable" option, but I haven't!

I just discovered that a (simple) website I'm working on will be deployed to a server running framework 2.0. My quandry is that I started it using VS2010 and framework 4.0.
Is the solution as simple as changing the compile to options? I'm assuming that I'll have to remove the Listview controls I am using as they didn't get introduced until 3.5 (i think).
Am I basically correct with this or am I missing something?

I get the dreaded "the compiler failed with error code 1" error message when application starts. Sometimes, it does not even start and in VS 2008 I get:"Could not load file or assembly 'file///C:WindowsMicrosoft.NetFrameworv2.0.50727Temporary ASP.NET FilesInternal2d7d8a83649918fApp_Web_timecard.aspx.3ecd542a.aa9wycbd.dll' or one of its dependencies. The system cnnot find teh file specified"I have searched for this error and tried everything suggested to no avail. I deleted the "Internal" folder in Temporary ASP.NET Files folder, changed something in one of teh file and also in web.config to force a recompile and restared IIS. Same thing happens. I checked all the files and do not a circular definition/referencing.

I have a project ointo which I have copied a folder form another website - that folder consists of aspx and associated aspx.vb files and folders cotaining js, css and ashx stuff. The folder is in the same place relative to root in both the original and target projects/sites. I have added the copied items to the destination project using VS "show all files"|right click add_to_project_method.
Things seem to have worked - e.g intellisense seems to recognise the controls in an aspx file when working on the matching aspx.vb file. However, whne you build the project (even though inteliisense is recognising them) the comiler moans that all of teh controls on the copied pages are undefined.
So intellisense says they are there but the compiler says they are not....

I am running a web-site with simple .aspx files on a standalone workgroup Windows Server 2008 called 'Max'.I had assumed that the .aspx files were accessed by the 'Network Service' account.The application pool for the website is running with 'Network Service' as the process account.I was puzzled, since 'Network Service' had no permission on these files. So I added event level auditing to the files, and I was suprised to learn that the .aspx files were being accessed by an account called Max$ (ie the computer account).this correct ?Why is the Network Service account not being used ??

I've just setup a new site on my IIS6 and I'm experiencing the following problem:
I can run normal HTML pages, but no .aspx files. If I call the aspx page directly I get a 404 - file not found - error message. This only happens with .aspx files.

We have had a web application built in vs2008. We have recently set up vs2010, and when we build the solution we are getting this error.
The CodeDom provider type "Microsoft.VJSharp.VJSharpCodeProvider, VJSharpCodeProvider, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" could not be located.
We have tried placing the following in web.config
<compiler language="vj#;vjs;vjsharp" extension=".jsl;.java" type="Microsoft.VJSharp.VJSharpCodeProvider, VJSharpCodeProvider, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a">
<providerOption name="CompilerVersion" value="v3.5"/>
<providerOption name="WarnAsError" value="false"/>
</compiler>

[Code]....
And is called like this:
[Code]....
Everything works just fine, except for every once in a while, I get a slew of http file not found errors when the browser trys to access the resource WebResource.axd?d={0}. (where {0} is some long encoded identifier).Is there a way to give each resource a consistant identifier or name?

I have recently discovered that I am affected by this bug http://www.mail-archive.com/mono-bugs@lists.ximian.com/msg71515.html
Well,at http://www.mail-archive.com/mono-bugs@lists.ximian.com/msg71529.html they say the work around is to create a global policy assembly and redirect the assemblies that way since it is not read from the web.config.
How do you actually do what they describe there? There is a huge documentation gap in that area with Mono.Also,I can't just recompile the assembly to use the new Mono assembly versions because the assembly is closed source.(but it does work with Mono.)

I've inherited a bunch of code that has server script inside of .htm files.
On IIS, a handler mapping pumps.Htm pages though the asp.net engine.
Unfortunately, visual studio doesn't notice that they should be treated as code.
Is there any way to make VS treat .Htm files as code/aspx files?

I upgraded my site from asp to asp.net.This means that all of my previous asp files became obsolete.I don't want to lose my Google Ranking of the old pages.
What is the proper way to redirect?I tried to catch all of the old asp pages is my 404 and then to:
if Request.QueryString("aspxerrorpath").contains("index.asp") = true then
Response.Status = "301 Moved Permanently"
Response.AddHeader("Location", "http://www.domain.com/index.aspx")
Response.Redirect("/index.aspx")
end if
but it doesn't catch asp pages, only aspx.
