When i enter valid username and password into a default mvc 2 app hosted on my local IIS 7.5 server i get this response.

I have created sample site and it is hosted in IIS7. When i try to use the website from some other machine, It shows page cannot be displayed.
But with same machine if i logged in as adminstrator and try to use the website, it is working fine.
Normal user - Unable to view the web page
Admin user - Able to view the web page.
Is there any configuration setting i need to modify to host the site in IIS 7?
I have built some ASP.NET websites in the past, mostly for local web applications. But this time I am looking to build a public website based on ASP.NET. The hosting and domain name is already in place but it is my job to create the site. I would like to use ASP.NET because I am most framiliar with it. I am just not positive the webserver supports it. I have tried creating a few different sites using different Net.Framework versions, but I always get a Runtime Error when I'm trying to access it across the internet. It tells me to change the customErrors value to OFF so I can see the error remotely. But I do that and for some reason its like its not seeing the Web.Config file I have. Because nothing changes and I still get the error. Any help would be great in figuring out if it supports ASP.NET. On another note I tried an ASP file which worked fine, but I'm not sure if theres a difference. Also if I make up a random url say [URL] I get the same error.
View 4 RepliesI have three asp.net 2.0 websites running on the same host server and recently upgraded to 3.5. After making changes necessary in the root web.config all sites run, but I've lost the stylesheet for the primary site.
Before the upgrade I had the following in the root web.config
<pages styleSheetTheme="Red" />
I got errors on this line because the upgraded web.config had another <pages> section. I tried adding the stylesheetTheme='Red" to that section and the primary website ran and looked right, but the subs got an error that there was no StyleSheetTheme="Red".
Each site has it's own stylesheets. How can I restore the stylesheettheme to the primary site without putting it in the root webconfig? Or, is there another way to handle this?

View 4 RepliesThe error is mentioned below, the cssfriendly.dll is in bin, and browser file is in there app_browsers folder. And it is working in same PC (developping PC), on remote server that belong to my company (i just installed .net 3.5 on that server)
I tried uploading the same site on 2 dufferents hosting, and finally i got the same error. What could gone wrong ? I tried contacting the hosting support but they work in ticketing system and this is extremely slow.

I am a begineer in ASP.Net programming. After learning the basics, I tried to host a simple website in a virtual directory. But the explorer returns error mentioned in the subject. Background tools used:
Operating system - Windows XP SP 3
IIS Server - 5.1

I have created an ASP.Net website and tested it using the default server. I used the integrated membership provider for the users login and everything worked fine.
Now I moved to IIS 7 and nothing works anymore. I disabled the read-only feature but every time I try to either register a new user or add an item to the chart I get this error

I really need some help here. I am brand new to using Visual Studio, but need to create a web page in which you must pay to register and view a Members Only page. I have followed a lot of instructions in these forums, but seem to have hit a wall.
First off, I am not able to use the ASP.NET Configuration under the Website tab. I have already created a New Web Site, selecting Visual C#, then the first option for ASP.NET Web Site. I chose File System for Web Location, etc. Long story short, I have made an ASP.NET Web Site with Basic User Login. The Login functionality is absolutely fine, I am able to view the site locally, register, and log in no problem. However, when I try to choose ASP.NET Configuration under the Website tab, nothing happens. From what I gather, I need to use the ASP.NET Configuration in order to configure membership permissions, and therefore
need to open this part of the program. In the long run, I would like to make it so that User Logins are sent via e-mail to people who have paid me and that wish to use my site, which brings me to my foreboding second problem.
I eventually need to find a web hosting service that will allow me to do all the things I have described. I was going to go with GoDaddy.com, but after doing a bit of research I realized it may not be the best option for what I am trying to do. However, through research, I have realized that VS 2010 is the best program to use for what I'm doing, but I'm in a bind because of inexperience, thus writing this question in this forum.
Any help making this web site would be greatly appreciated, I am definitely in way over my head. I have worked with computers for the last 10 years, so my inexperience is mainly with ASP programming.
Just to let you know, I have VS 2010, Visual SourceSafe, and SQL Server Express installed on this fully capable machine. What I am really looking for is someone to guide me through the process of creating this website, either through pointing me in the right direction or explaining in detail all the next steps that I must take.
I am trying to deploy crystal reports 2008 on shared server. Before publishing on the remote server i published it on the localhost while connecting it to remote sql server 2008 database. The report is shown perfactly but when i publish it on shared server it prompt me for login credentials. My hosting provider is arvixe and it support crystal report. In my popup database field is empty and locked use name field show the correct user name and password field is empty. I read somewhere it may be due to version conflict between my version and version on server.

View 2 RepliesI don't have any experience in web hosting. Recently I've completed developing my Asp.net website using Visual Studio 2010. The website retrieves financial data from Yahoo! Finance, does analytical calculations in code-behind, stores processed data into several databases, and allows users to analyze the stock market using those data. Currently I need to run some programs in Visual Studio so that new data get downloaded every day.
My problem is that I know nothing about how to do web hosting so I can actually get my website on the Internet. I heard that there are third-party web site hosting services, but do they allow you to upload entire Asp.net web pages with all the databases attached? What if I need to go in there, run some programs, and update some data in the databases, do these web hosting services allow me to do that?
If the answers to the above are yes, what are some good web hosting services that allow you to upload (I don't even know if "upload" is the correct term to use) Asp.Net web pages? By the way, my website is coded in Visual Basic, if it makes any difference.
