i am facing very unique problem.i have one site ,i am hosting it on two different server.but on one server look and feel of html,css proper while on another server html ,css ,menu,javascript not working properly...html and css get distorted..i am not able to find wht reason behind this..

Is there anything I need to be aware of? Do I need to make any changes to the web.config file (that was generated in VWD) or anything else?

The site is made in ASP.NET C# and also have silverlight application in it. I am not able to configure or wither host the site on the server. I am having IIS 7 and Windows 7 as the OS. What I want to do is use this netwrok to host the website I have built. What im wanting to know is will this be secure? Can use the comapnys server to host the site, and in a sense not put the website online so that just the computers on the server can access the website? Will this be secure?

When I deploy the website to an IIS 6.0 web server and try to open the website in a browser on the web server desktop I get the following:

There are so many ways to approach this that IM a little lost in the forest. What is the best way to address giving the hosting web server access to the database server? Or should I say give the web site access to the specific database?
I want to deploy asp.net 4.0 web site on windows server 2003, Now I already have a classic asp site running on it. Would there be any problem if I install .net 4.0 framework for my new site. Will the existing site (the one in classic asp) be affected?
View 2 RepliesThis will be my first time trying to upload a ASP.NET site. I would like to upload my site by simply using ftp and transferring the contents of the project directory so that the site will be easy for me to make future updates. Where can I find directions for uploading a ASP.NET site via ftp? I am assuming that I will need to edit the connection string in the web.config file. However, my hosting company told me to just make a full backup of of the database into .BAK file format and upload it via FTP to your the "private" folder. Anyone have any experience with something like this and can tell me how this would affect the connection string? Can I back up the database to a .BAK file from within Visual Studio 2008 or do I have to use Management Studio? I am using Visual Studio 2008 with ASP.NET 3.5, C#, and SQL Server 2008 Express Edition.

I have a site (URL...) which loads and runs fine locally on the server itself, but when I try to access this externally from outside of the server (and firewall) will not load. In Safari for example, I get the message "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".I have other sites on this server that do load and operate fine so I don't belive this is a Firewall issue. One thing I did notice however is that when the error message appears, it seems like the site is trying to change the protocol from http to https.
I'm trying to debug this to find out what could be happening. I've tried looking into the IIS logs as well as the Event Viewer but I see nothing. I have even tried to turn on Failed Request Tracking but no errors are logged.
I am working at a site not orginally devleoped by me. The problem is that all the pages are working fine and have no problem at my local site. but the site is not showing any content at live site from database. Niether it shows an error for it. How can I find the problem?
View 7 RepliesHow can I test an application that I am publishing to a remote provider's IIS7 hosted site, with the VS2008 development server that is built in with VS2008 on an XP Machine?
My membership/roles work perfectly up on the remote host. On ths hosted IIS7 site when I try to access a secure directory it redirects to login, and I am able to login, however when I launch (debug - F5) from VS2008, it will provide that folder/resource, no questions asked. Same build, config, etc... nothing has changed.
I am running XP, and local IIS version installed is 5.1.
My guess is what is happening is that the new format required in the web.config is configured properly for IIS7 deployment, which is why it works remotely, but when running locally through VS2008/XP it is running with an older version on IIS and does not recoginize the new tags.
I am neither a server administrator nor very knowledgable about how to configure IIS, so I have the following problem:
My client hosts their public website from their own internal server running Server 2003 with IIS 6. The current website is a .NET 1.1 application configured as a website in IIS. Within this site a separate virtual directory configured as an application runs a separate .NET 1.1 app that serves as their online webstore.
I've been tasked with upgrading the website (not the webstore) to .NET 4 and getting it installed and working on their server. My initial plan was to simply change the existing websites home directory to the new home directory from the IIS admin console and be done, but then I read that this would break the application directory that hosts their online store because .NET 1.1 applications cannot be nested within .NET 4 applications. Can anyone confirm this?
I'm creating a website and I'm testing resgistering and Log-in.
I followed a simple tutorial to create a Log-in in Visual Studio C# template which generated a SQL Server database.Locally the Log-in and registration page works perfectly. The problem is that when I upload my site to the hosting site the navigation works but the Log-in and Registration forms send an error when clicked "Register" or "Log-in". I contacted the site and they upload my database the way it should be because I was doing it wrong. I can see all my files including the data base.
They commented me that I had to do a connection string to the data base so the login and registration forms can work. I don't understand how to do that, I know the connection string has to be declared in the Web Config File, the thing is that I don't know how to write that code and link it to my data base in the hosting site, in fact I have sample code but I don't know just what do I need to put in it.
When i'm trying to debug or view pages of my site in browser asp.net dev server doesn't turns on pages automatically and when im trying to go by url it throws me an error See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I am having serious issue running a MVC web site from IIS 6 especially with Windows authentication mode. I know its very simple but missing some ting between. Succeeded configuring MVC on IIS 6. Now Trying to enable Windows Authentication mode on MVC Web Site, Steps included in my configuration
- enabled windows authentication mode in web.config
- Enabled Integrated Windows Authentication on IIS web site under Directory Security.

During the intial loading, I am trying to query Active Directory to get authenticated user's full name to display on default page, this is not success full due to some issue, later I changed to "HttpContext.User.Identity.Name". I have separated two servers as Web server/Database server.
I'm having an issue that has made me loose too many hours already. My site works fine in VS2008 with SQL Express 2008. However, when I try to deploy the site following these steps:
1. Create a new site IIS 7.0
2. Copy all the files from my code folder to IIS 7.0, (I was planning to delete the code latter)
3. Browse to my Index.aspx
The error message I receive is Cannot open database "AnimalSafe" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNetwork Service'. I've already changed the application pool to use Network Service to authenticate and have made sure that SQL is running under this account.
I have a requirement where I have to transfer a user from Web Site 1 on Server A to web Site 2 on Server B.
On Web Site 1, I have to provide controls to enter user id and password and which have to be validated on Web Site 2 on server B, after validating them I have to redirect the user to Web site 2.
what is best way fo doing it. code examples are greatly appreciated.
Note: On Web Site 2, user login functionality is already existing and it is provided by ASP.Net login control, am not sure how to handle the user login process from two different places.
or is it the best way to move Web Site 2 from Server B to Server A so that, the same login controls will be shown using Iframe on Web Site A.

View 3 RepliesI am using WIX 3.6 for VS2010 to create our MSI's for our web application setups. This is all working fine and all in terms of deployment and uninstall.
I recently allowed the user to specify the virtual directory and application pool names to support side by side installs. This is all fine as I have created my own setup bootstrapper.
The issue is with uninstallation.
If the user does not specify the names and leaves the default values, it will install successfully.
The minute the user updates the names from the defaults, the install process will not remove the app-pool and virtual directory. This is what I have found consistently with my testing.
steps for using IIS to host a website I created in visual studio? I have the files in a folder called HelpDesk under inetpub and have the path correctly specified in IIS, but IE is stating it cannot display this webpage.

View 3 RepliesI had first build an database and populated it with various information, set some properties related to FTS and other things.
Now, in the asp.net MVC application, I am able to add the database ServerExplorer->Connect To Database-> Data Source= MS SQL SERVER->Server name->OpAmp-pc. Now, I was unable to add the database by copying the file in app data folder.
My doubt it how can I share the website+ database with my fellow batchmate or put the whole website online.
Build->Publish Sirte, didn't solved the pupose.
