I build some website using VS2010. its no problem for me to watch the site by click view in browser from VS but, if i want to send the website folder to someone, and he dont know nothing about VS or programming, how can he use the site
View 7 RepliesI have VS 2010 professional. I am trying to open "ASP.Net Configuration" through Project -> ASP.Net Configuration.
It pops up the Notification about the ASP.Net Development Server localhost but doesn't open ASP.Net Configuration in the default browser.I clicked on the Root Url (by double clicking on the 'development server' at the right bottom from Notification Manager).
It throws following error
"An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again."
Clicking on "How do i use this tool".It opened page with error.

This issues has been driving me nuts. I am trying to follow the tutorial on [URL] I am trying to connect to a database in Microsoft SQL Server 2008. The way I do this is by right clicking on the "Data Connections" > Add Connection. Afterwards the Add Connection window comes up, I make sure my data source is "Microsoft SQL Server (SqlClient). And, I choose a server name; the only server I can choose is DomainSQLEXPRESS. The issue is when I go down to the "Select or enter a database name" drop down box, I do not see my database listed. I have also made sure in the SQL Server Management Studio that I have given my user all the privileges for the database. I know my explanation is kind of vague, but would anyone know the reason why I would not see my database?

I created aspnetdb in website1 using the membership provider service. I detached it from website1 and attached it to website2. When I run website2 in debug, I get message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

My host moved my website to a new server. The DNS configuration is correct but the website is still down and I'm getting this message
"unable to open website at www.aboutmecfs.org. Internal Server error"
I used to use VS 2010 and Windows 7 32 bit editions. Now I have upgraded to 64 bit editions.My problem is that every time I run my webform website, development server is set up and when I stop debugging it is closed.On 32 bit versions it was launched just once. View 3 RepliesI'm trying to run a website (site2) that I've placed inside a folder (dir-site2) of another website (site1). The default file of site2 displays fine in every browser on my local computer, as in when I type http://localhost:45912/www.site1.com/dir-site2/default.aspx. But when I upload everything to my host's server and type this
http://www.site1.com/dir-site2/default.aspx I get a server "can't access" error message. I can't display any file that is inside the subdirectory, dir-site2.
I have a new server that I am attempting to deply my very first asp.net website on. I have installed SQL 2008 r2 and loaded my DB on it. I am able to access the server/DB through Visual Stuidio. At least I know i can call it from the webserver to my local PC.
For some reason I just cant get my we.config's connection strong right. It might even be the <provider> info that I have wrong. I am just too inexperienced to know for sure. My Web.Config is very short so I will post all of it here.

I have a named instance of sql 2008 developer edition installed. I have changed the Server name but the query string will still not work. I want to be able to use the default db "aspnetdb.mdf". I use Windows authentication to connect. How can i change the connection string to get this to work?

I just installed sql server 2008 R2 on my computer. I am trying to connect to sql server throught my C# code and everytime I run the C# program,

ClassLib is a dll that is referenced within my site that has functions that were created within it.Within ClassLib there is a reference to the old oracle version. My new server has version 11. Will I have to install version 11 and reference that version within

I found that I could add this code :

to the Global.asax file to deal with the issue. The errors I received were from IE9.
EDIT: The errors were fixed but I want to know if there is an alternative method to making a website compatible with IE9? Also what are the differences between the way IE8 interprets Javascript code and IE9?
