Configuration :: The Connection To The Server Was Lost?
Mar 15, 2010
I have an application 'A' builded by VS2005 and Framework 2.0.50727 before. And I am fixing an application 'B' builded by VS2003 with Framework 1.0, so I installed 1.0 yesterday.Everything worked fine but today when I was running 'B', it showed "Visual Studio cannot create or open the application because the Web server on this computer is not running. Start the Web serber before proceeding."Even if I reintall 1.0, VS2003 still shows this message. Then I closed VS2003 and open VS2005 to run application 'A' to see if app 'A' works fine.
But after I run app 'A', the IE says cannot display web page.So I checked my Default Web Site in IIS, it says 'The connection to the server was lost. Do you want to attempt to reconnect?'I tried solutions from internet to solve running app 'A' :1. Type C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727 -i or -u in command.2. Checked the World Wide Web Publishing status is startedThe running app 'A' still gave me cannot display IE picture.Does anyone know how can I do for it?
Somehow I deleted my App_Data folder and had to recreate it... it only had one database in it ... an Access Database. My .aspx pages that use the DB are giving permission errors when they load... I can't find anyplace in my DB or on my VWD Express where I can set the permissions (nor on my hosting service).
My web server and database server are currently both in the same room. However, the web server might be changed to a different server in another building about a mile down the street. I want to make sure this doesn't have a negative impact on the connection speed between the database and web server. Is there a way to test the connection speed from both web servers to the database?
I build some website using VS2010. its no problem for me to watch the site by click view in browser from VS but, if i want to send the website folder to someone, and he dont know nothing about VS or programming, how can he use the site
I have a new server that I am attempting to deply my very first asp.net website on. I have installed SQL 2008 r2 and loaded my DB on it. I am able to access the server/DB through Visual Stuidio. At least I know i can call it from the webserver to my local PC.
For some reason I just cant get my we.config's connection strong right. It might even be the <provider> info that I have wrong. I am just too inexperienced to know for sure. My Web.Config is very short so I will post all of it here.

How do I modify my local project to use my webservers DB instead of the standard SQL Express DB? The only connection string
Machine.Config that points to the sqlexpress database. Again I lack the experience to know how to do this. I am using Visual Studio 2010 and SQL Server 2008 r2 on my local pc.
i have few variable in login page that is read from db.If the internet connection is loss suddenly during read process, my frst page is not able to be loaded and show to user.I am thinking to have this page show when internet connection lost. Is it possible to do so?The page is shown as the picture below :
When I try to encrypt the "connectionStrings" section in the web.config file of my asp.net web application on Windows Server 2008, I'm getting the following error:
Administration utility (2.0.50727) to install and uninstall ASP.NET on the local machine. Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Note: This utility has limited capabilities on the Windows Vista operating system. It is recommended that you use the "Turn on or off Windows features" option of the "Programs" component of Control Panel to install or remove ASP.NET. It is also recommended that you use the IIS Manager component or the Appcmd.exe tool to configure ASP.NET applications.
The above information is followed by the list of valid options to aspnet_regiis.exe.
Thing is, if I run this locally and drop my internet connection the web service returns a 500 error (like I want it to do) and deleteCustomer(customer.id); is not called. However, on the live site if I drop my connection the web service does not return an error and deleteCustomer(customer.id); is called even if I don't have a connection to the internet (customer gets deleted from local database without being posted to the web server).
I have a rather large gridview that I need to page. the follwoing is my code but when I try to page it gives me a internet lost connection error??? I have not gotten to work in dot.net 4.0 this code is from one of my projects in 1.1 where it works fine but for some reason it is changes for 4.0.
I just installed sql server 2008 R2 on my computer. I am trying to connect to sql server throught my C# code and everytime I run the C# program,
I get this error "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.
The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) "

Using Visual Studio & Asp.Net Development server all the pages, user controls & CSS look perfect; I used publish to my local IIS (before I move to hosted company) and now when I browse the page, it looks like there is not any formatting, and the links to the images quit working, is this a permission issue, or are there more steps to do after I create the Virtual Directory?
i have a webapplication project which uses some functionailty from class library project, i am Using VS2010 TCP 4.
so the class library is a reference in this webapplication project,
unfortunatelly, when i build the webapplication, the class decleration has been lost!!!, and the message appear "The type or namespace name 'ClassName' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)" !!! i must delete the class reference from the webapplication and re-refrence it again !!!
but still when every time i build the project the reference decleration removed !!! does that error in VS or what ?
I published my website on my local IIS and after a while felt like making some changes in it.
When i opened my website in visual studio i noticed there were no Page Code files (aspx.cs files) and not even my App_Code folder where i wrote custom code files.
I have VS 2010 professional. I am trying to open "ASP.Net Configuration" through Project -> ASP.Net Configuration.
It pops up the Notification about the ASP.Net Development Server localhost but doesn't open ASP.Net Configuration in the default browser.I clicked on the Root Url (by double clicking on the 'development server' at the right bottom from Notification Manager).
It throws following error
"An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again."
Clicking on "How do i use this tool".It opened page with error.
I am working on the MVC storefront Rob Conery project and I lost my ASPNET.mdf database !I would like to have the ASPNET.mdf database in my App_Data folder. I tried to include the db right clicking on it and including it in the project. But on the Server Exporer when I am tring to look at tables there are none.
How can i get ConnectionString In web.Config when you are in DAL(data access layer)Some said it should me in <appSetting> but i think this is not appropriate to do because web.config have dedicate tag for connection strings.i am creating a 3 tier each layers is a project in 1 solution
Project ://solution
|_View :WebApp // Dependence (BLL,ENTITY ) |_BLL : ClassLib // Dependence (DAL,ENTITY ) |_DAL : ClassLib // Dependence (ENTITY ) |_ENTITY : ClassLib //note this is not a layes just a central data object reference
I have created a website (VB) on my local host. A couple of pages on this website use gridviews or detailsviews with an AccessDataSource connection to a MS Access database. This works perfectly. But now I want to move this website to a hosting provider. And on this hosting provider my website works well but not the pages with a connection to the Access database. I searched the whole internet for a solution but I didn't found it.
Folder structure on the host:
- db > Access databases (name: testdemo.mdb) - logs -wwwroot > website (for example, the gridview is placed on index.aspx).
I think AccessDataSource didn't work, but what kind of code may I use in the index.aspx and web.config? My hosting provider said only, use a direct link to the database and not a relative, for example: E:xxx.comdb estdemo.mdb
I have created a ASP.NET 4 application in VS 2010 using Silverlight and RIA Services.
After finishing the first release on my development pc, I'm starting some deployment testing in a server in my local network.
After sucessfully published the web application using the Visual Studio FTP publishing option, I notice two strange things:
1 - On the IIS properties of the website I have uploaded my files to, you can see now a connection string, named as LocalSqlServer that points to the aspnetdb.mdf database file. I had a look in the web.config file and I could not find this connection strind defined there. So, where is it located? Where did IIs got it from?
2 - As the aspnetdb.mdf file is not deployed withtin the web application and I a musing SQL express in my testing server, where can I drop the mdf and ldf files so they can be attached when the applicaiton runs? I know I can perform an attach operation using management studio, but I'm wandering where is the DataDirectory folder ASP.NET looks for to attach it at runtime?
i have done a project using ASP.NET and SQL database...and it's working good.but everytime i run the project in other computers i need to set connection path to database.without set connection how to run the project.using "App Path"? please let me how to set App Path in ASP.NET PROJECT.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008, and my database is SQL Server 2000.
I want to add a connection to the Server Explorer in VS. The Data source is Microsoft SQL Server (SqlClient). After entering in all my information and I click Test Connection, it is successful.
But when I click OK, I get the error:
Unable to add data connection. ExecuteScalar requires an open and available connection. The connection's current state is closed.
Seems one have to configure your connection a bit different in NHibernate configuration. In my web.config I'll have it like this (and it work):
Quote:
<add name="ApplicationServices" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" connectionString="Data Source=72.118.116.71,1511;Initial Catalog=xxx;User Id=xxxx;Password=xxxx;" /> The sample I'm using (Trying to figure out NHibernate) configure a local database like this:
Code:
<property name="connection.connection_string"> server=.SQLExpress;database=NHibernateSample; Integrated Security=true; </property> I've been trying various variations of this and cant get it to work:
Right now, when I am copying the website to host server, I am changing the connection string in webconfig file and at each location of a sqldatasource or a query .. thats like more than 30 places where I am doing this.
When I am done copying the website, I have to change all the connection strings back to dev server for me to keep working on the dev copy....
I have decrypted my connection string in web.config file of the application programatically. But after deployment under the ASP.net tab of application virtual directory when I click edit configuration the connection strings in web.config file are visible in decrypted format i.e readable form.
I have been preparing for a conversion of an old application to an ASP.NET webapplication at beginning of the year. Generally, the development version of the webapp will also be the webapp that goes into production. We here make "clones" of the database server, assign new name, etc, which is then used for development, training, and so on without any threat of changing data on the real db (sql server 2005). I know it is possible to have more then one connection string in the web.config. My question centers around if there is a simple method for allow multiple connection strings and pick the one that is to be used for dev, production, training, and so on? I originally thought about constructing some type of admin form that the connection string can be selected from.
