I have createdate field in a table and I want to use that field to group items in a gridview based on the date. For instance, if the datediff is less than 25 hours ago then I want to show the word "Today" or if greater than 24 but less than 48 hours show the word "Yesterday" etc.

I have a stored procedure that gets the value and converts to date and when I run the select part of my stored proc to test it it successfully returns the mm/dd/yy format that I want: ex: 02/28/2010 However when I call this stored proc from my program I am getting an exception:

conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string
we are using transactional replication on an sql 2008 server. we try now to add a table to the replication that only consists of 1 culomn of type date and we insert the dates to the table. when we then create the replication we are getting an error on the creation of the snapshot. here is the create table with the insert dates:

I have a textbox on my web page with a value of" 4/3/2010 I want to convert this to a date field with a value of 20100403 (yyyymmdd). Notice in the textbox that the month and day are one digit. When the column is sorted is is being sorted as a string. I have read in several places if you add a formatting string to the eval statement in the item template that the sort operation will then sort the string as a date. However, I cannot get it to work. I've a table with datetime null field in sql server. I'm trying to group the results based on the year in that field. But, when I wrote linq query, I didn't get intellisense for Year when I type that field. It only shows HasValue and Value. I think because it is converted nullable type. How do I do the grouping in this case?
