I want create my output in excel file. But in server i cannot install office, its too costly i am developing it with vishual studio2005 with vb. so anybody can give the solution for this.

I have created an excel sheet from datatable using function. I want to read the excel sheet programatically using the below connectionstring. This string works fine for all other excel sheets but not for the one i created using the function. I guess it is because of excel version problem.

I have the following code that creates a new Excel file in my C# code behind. When I attempt to save the file I would like the user to select the location of the save.
In Method #1, I can save the file my using the workbook SaveCopyAs without prompting the user for a location. This saves one file to the C:Temp directory.
Method #2 will save the file in my UsersDocuments folder, then prompt the user to select the location and save a second copy. How can I eliminate the first copy from saving in the UsersDocuments folder?

Im developing ecommerce website and i want to add category menu to my website. This category menu should have 2 levels for sub categories as well. I tried navigation controls in ASP.net. But still i cant understand how to create the navigation menu in order to integrate with back office. I understand that i can do this with XML file, But if i want to add new products categories or remove categories, XML file should update automatically according to that. The code Export data from GridView to Excel is working fine but in our office network all machines have MS Office2007 so when user click to export data and save the file it is always saving in the old format and when user wants to open that excel file then a popup asks the compatibility of version to open yes or no. So to open the file user everytime click Yes.
I just want to export data from GridView to Excel in MS Office 2007 version, so that when user click to open then it directly open the file without asking any question.

Why does the Web Platform Installer force you to install SQL 2008 Express?
I have a production server which already has an installation of SQL 2000 but no web development tools are installed. I would prefer not to add SQL 2008 Express if it is not necessary. The server in addition to being the primary intranet webserver is also DC, APP SERVER, FILE SERVER and basically does not need to handle an extra instance of SQL.
The main purpose of this is just one of convenience to have the web development app on the RDP Desktop instead of attaching to the server in some manner (ftp/unc share).

i have a physical microsoft office word file in the c drive
what i want to do is that when i press a button i open a microsoft office word located on the c drive then i add some text to it using c# code
then i want to open the file (that i edited and located in memory) in mircosoft office word to see the text that i have added
everything works fine but when i press the button i get a prompt that says do you want to open the file or save it .

so how can i directly open the file (located in memory) in microsoft office word without this prompt
also if i choose open from the prompt the file opens in the read only mode and the title of the file in the microsoft word become the name of the aspx page which is Default.aspx

Now the same code when I copy it in my project having masterpage . there is no compiler error but it is genereating excel file withno data in it but in fact there is data in the grid view at runtime.
I need to remove the password protection from an uploaded excel file. I have been doing this directly with the Excel assemblies (ASP.NET/C#) and then I tried with the ooxmlcrypto, both worked, but the problem is that I can not deploy either of those solution because of the dependencies.
I mean, my sysadmin does not want us installing Excel on the server and, as I have been searching for some alternatives, I can not find one.
My question is: is there a way to put the necessary dlls in the server without installing Excel or the Office suite?
