Creating A Popup Search Webpage?
May 7, 2010
Suppose that I have a text box where I am asking for a customer number. I would like to create a lookup option. Where another webpage comes up and I can search for my customer using various options: by name, city... whatever and I would like the webpage to return the customer number and place it into that text box. How do I go about creating this? In addition I do not want this to be browser dependant. I don't want it to be for IE only. (I already know how to make the one for IE only) I am hoping there is an AJAX functionality here or something...

we deliver micro-site content for our client. Our content is injected into a wrapper that is supplied by another developer.
To deliver our content we host the wrapper as well as the content. The user can access this at
[URL]
For the other content that is not ours, the other developer hosts a similar (though slightly different) wrapper and delivers the content. the user accesses this here:
[URL]
The wrapper contains a search box, which does not work for us but it works for the other developer. I took a look at the network traffic with FireBug but it appears that when I do the search from the wrapper that we're hosting, I'm getting a "407 Proxy Access Denied" error. My guess is their proxy has a problem with the fact that the search is being conducted from a page hosted outside the scope of their proxy.
It was also suggested that there were javascript errors on the page that were preventing the search from executing but I can't see any. Also, I don't think I'd get as far as the proxy error if that was the case.

I'm developing a kind of framework that will work in web and win, so I have this interface:
public interface IViewsManager
{
...
void ShowMessage();
...
}
And I have the implementation for win that call a popup control from another dll. My problem is when I try to implement it for web enviroment, I have to call a popup control from another dll, and I would like to show the popup and the web page disables with a gray layer, and I don't know how to do it.
The structure is like the following:
1) UI.Common
a) IViewsManager
2) UI.Win
a) ViewsManagerWin
3) UI.Web
a) ViewsManagerWeb
4) UI.Controls
a) PopupControlWin
b) PopupControlWeb
5) Web Application
And from my web application I call the IViewsManager.ShowMessage, and depending on the enviroment it calls the appropiate popup control.

I want to display records based on the Prod ID entered by the user in the text box. Where can I find a tutorial to do that?
I can't find a simple one. I am completely new to .NET, and hardly know anything about grid view, SQL connections and stuff.
I need a step-by-step tutorial that explains how to do it. I want to learn about all of this.
Oh, BTW, I did establish an SQL connection and was successful in displaying my table on the web page. I want to learn how to search from that table and display records.

i would like to add a search module in my web application. I would like to use drop down list. I would like to know how to connect more than one drop down list in the same page to produce a result.
Example :
Holiday Type : Honeymoon,shopping (select in a drop down list)
Budget : 300-400, 400-500, 500-600 (select in a drop down list)
Result : a suggested holiday pakage (from database).
I'm new to asp.net. I think that 'if else' method can be used. Would be nice if anyone could share any related source codes.

i've got a project requirement in which a webpage developed in asp.net+C# - (used for information gathering from the end user) can be changed to a report view of the same page (after submitting) with dynamic html formatting without affecting the original page can it be done by creating an object of that webpage and modifying its properties or creating an instance of the page or something like that.

The way we have to update our site now is to create a copy of the website project locally. Make changes. Then take the dll and any other new files and copy them to the project on the server. Sometimes they want us to work on something they need uploaded right away and other times work on something that needs to be uploaded in the future. So I have to do silly things to give them what they want now and exclude what I am working on for later. What is the best way to resolve this? I just wanna have to upload a piece of the project and certainly not the a whole new dll everytime.

I need to popup my webpage from within our customer's websites. My webpage gathers some data in input boxes and then closes --- ie. It's just a basic form and all I need is to display it and give a close button to the user.
What's the best JS tool to do this? I found colorbox and it looks cool, but I am concerned that it will break my customer's site as it requires jQuery (and my customer may be using an older version than colorbox pulls in).

I've created a website in Visual Studio 2008 with a database and want to create a series search options that someone could use to search for specific things in the database. I've so far got one search parameter sucessfully working but I'm failing to figure out how to have multiple search options. How it works at the moment is there is a gridview linked to a SqlDataSource which is set up to work with a list box. The list box is linked to one column in the table. Each time someone picks a option from the list box it refreshes the page and returns the items with the the option selected in the gridview.
I hope the above makes sense. Now what I want to do is add further list boxes and text boxes offering a series of search options linked to a search button that then refreshes the page and returns the results to the GridView. How would I go about doing this? I'm relatively new to Visual Studio and still learning.

I need to display a gridview control in a modal popup on the webpage. I need to have a textbox and a button along with the gridview control so the user can enter a name to search for. My problem is when they click the button to search, I imagine the modal popup will go away?
I thought of maybe putting an update panel inside the modal popup panel and see if it stayed on the page but I must be doing something wrong. Can someone tell me how I can make the search work with updating the gridview while keeping the modal popup there?

I have a web page (aaaaaa.aspx) which opens a popup window (bbbbbb.aspx). From the popup window vb.net code, I do a Response.Redirect("cccccc.aspx") to another page. On this page I have a button and when I click it, I want to close this page (cccccc.aspx) and refresh the original page (aaaaaa.aspx) so that the changes can be seen. Presently, the page cccccc.aspx close but the original page (aaaaaa.aspx) does not refresh. Normally this works fine with just a popup window. But the response.redirect is what messing me up, I think. I did not write this code but just trying to make it work. Here is the code I am using in the button_click event of page cccccc.aspx:
Response.Write("<script>window.opener.document.forms[0].submit();</script>")
Response.Write("<script>self.close();</script>")

Is it possible to create a popup window using an Aspx page and Java Script? I thought I saw this done once, but I don't recall how it was done. Here is really what I want to accomplish
So here is the pseudo code of what I would like to do.
1. Have an Aspx web page named default.aspx with a button on the web page named "Press Me"
2. Have an Aspx web page named popup.aspx that is 1/4 the size of the web page in step 1 and has a texbox control named txtPersonsName. And a submit button.
3. When the button on default.aspx is pressed, the web form in step 2 popup.aspx is displayed giving the impression of a popup window. A person enters their name on popup.aspx and then presses the submit button. The popup closes and the code behind of default.aspx captures the name entered in popup.aspx
Thougths: I think popup.aspx can be displayed using Java Script from the code behind of default.aspx. Or from within default.aspx.
