Binding the Remarks label as footer in my second gridview.
Here's the image
I set the DataKeyName of the Parent gridview to EmpNo and LeaveTraId, I wanted to pull those datakeys up to include in my query getting the value Remarks field from database.
I used OnRowDataBound event of parent grid to populate the second grid.
I am trying to retrieve the values from the textboxes in the gridview footer row but getting the following error when trying to save the changes:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description:An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

I just want to calculate the Grand Total of the quantity. So basically i want to sum up all the quantity for each row and show the total at the bottom of the page. I don't want to use the total and the price column in this example. How can i modify this code and just sum up only the total quantity without referencing the price and the total? here is the javascript
<script type="text/javascript"> $(function () { $("[id*=txtQuantity]").val("0"); }); $("[id*=txtQuantity]").live("change", function () { if (isNaN(parseInt($(this).val()))) { $(this).val('0'); } else {
I have implemented column tolals in the footer of my gridview using the technicque described in this article [URL] .
Now I would like to have a total of the 7 column totals that are displayed in the footer. Can anyone tell me how to do this. I would like to display this in a label or an addition row in the footer if that is possible.
I need to add a sum total for each column in my gridview and I need to do this programmatically because my gridview mark up does not contain any column mark because the columns themselves are added programmatically.
This there away to do this on the row data bound event? If so how do you do it? I have 10 columns which each need to have a total.
My database is SQL and i am using a stored procedure as under. The output is almost correct and i want to rectfy a small error in it
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[Report]( @year int, @month int ) AS
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON
declare @d smalldatetime declare @total int
[CODE]...
in the above procedure i didnt use the str_dt which is the person joined in that comapnt initially. The mistake i had noticed is that if a person joines in 3 jan 2014 and the date and year selected in dropdownlist is Dec 2013. The person who had joined in 3 Jan 2014 is also gets displayed in it. but it should not be.
in my gridview i bound Duecode,DueType,DueAmount and Due Fine and also a checkbox.
Requirement
when i check one checkbox then Dues Amount is display in dueamount textbox(from database) and Duesfine is calculate and display in Duefine textbox and along with there is a Due Name "Late Fees" and DueType is "FINE" and i save "F" in database.so sum of all Dues Fine amount is calculated and show in Late fee column.it should be change if any fine amount is change.
problem
Problem is ,how can i calculate the Dues fine amount and display it in where due type is "F" column.
My problem is: The GridView normally fits the grid perfectly to the data so that each cell only spans one row and has the appropriate column widths. However, when I add a row of TextBoxes to the bottom of this grid, the column widths suddenly all become equal, so that some cells with lots of words span multiple rows. Is there anyway to prevent this?
I am having problems with displaying the totals in the footer of a gridview. I am writing a page whereby users can enter comments and marks for an online photo competition.
The page has a details view to enter the comment and mark. Its has a details view where the photo is displayed. It has a gridview where the comments and marks that have been entered are displayed.
It works well - the details view allows comment and mark entry and the gridview show the comments and marks as they are entered. The problems are twofold. Firstly the total shows double the marks that should be displayed. Secondly, when you leave the page and then return later, you have to refresh the page before it will show the latest comment and mark even though it shows this immediately after entering the data.
I have 5 gridviews, all of of them have a Checkbox template field. I already did SUM of a specific column in the gridviews and displayed the Total in the gridview footers.
There is a submit button on the page as well.(this is not in a template column in the gridview)
what i do is select some rows in the gridviews by ticking the checkbox. Then I click on the submit button and the values change in the database and page refreshes with the new Total in the gridview footers. Any row that was ticked. the checkbox for that row in the gridview gets disabled. so cannot change the value again.
Now i want a way to show a popup with a SUM of those rows that are ticked recently and the SUM of already ticked and disabled rows before the values change for the ticked rows in the gridview when the submit button is clicked.
I want to display gridview column heading when mouse over to the particular column in the gridview.I am working in VisualStudio 2005 with MS.Net2.0 framework.I don't want to use ajax.
