My issue is that , need to change the column name(following format "Remove first character and after 3rd character insert colon") of the gridview (which is binded with XMLTextReader). Without changing directly XML file, Required to change the column name dynamically at runtime .

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, I'm coming at this from a front-end perspective, and don't really know how to deal with data views in ASP.NET.
Basically, I'm trying to change the layout of some repeated data from a straight table, to something more design-heavy. It's the same data, just re-organised slightly. The current ASP.NET code looks like this:
[Code]....
However, I want to replace all of this, such that each 'row' of data renders like this:
[Code]....
How is this done? Can I just edit the code above, or would I need to do something more advanced in terms of not using a data grid and using some other control instead? Is it something that can be done in just a .aspx file or would it need to be done in C# and compiled?

I have a HtmlEditor(ajax control) in which i am giving some contents to be modified by the user on click of a button(fetched from the database). When i fetch the contents into a textbox control the 'spaces' and 'enter' come as it is stored in database but when i use HtmlEditor 'spaces' and 'enter' doesnt come and the text is displayed as a plain paragraph. My code is as follows:
OdbcConnection casetype = new OdbcConnection("Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};Server=localhost;Database=testcase;User=root;Password=root;Option=3;");
casetype.Open();

I've been asked to take over a project that's filled with a bunch of bugs. It's currently using MVC 1.0 and there's a view with Html Helper Data Grid that uses a DataGridHelper class. I'm not that familiar with all of MVC yet, and I was wondering if it is possible to have the sorting of the columns be a POST event rather than a GET.
Currently when a user clicks a column to sort, the controller for the view calls the GET action method. This I guess is all fine and good, but the problem is that this view has a search form (which is a model in it's own right) with some text boxes and some drop down lists. When the GET action method is called, I lose all of the information in the search criteria. So when ever someone searches for something, but then wants to sort the results, it requries the db for all records (because all of the search criteria is cleared).
I guess there could be two solutions:
1) Is there a way to access the items in the search form / model in the GET portion of the action method? I've tried using ViewData or adding a parameter for the search form model, but (and maybe I'm doing it wrong) both return null.
2) Is there a way to make the sorting event of a column call the POST portion of the action method? That way I'll have the search form / model information and be able to sort the search result content instead of query for all records.
Also, there is a stored procedure that currently can handel all of possible search parameters. So, no matter what sort column is selected, or search parameters are entered, it can properly setup the sql query.

I've these codes in my DATABASE in other words it's HTML. I tried these stuff:
<div runat="server" id="div1" visible="false">
<asp:Literal ID="literal1" runat="server" Text="" />
</div>
I tried in C# code behind:
div1.InnerText = contents;
div1.InnerHtml = contents
literal1.Text = contents;
But is still doesn't render well. I displays the original values in stead of a table and cells and columns. colours etc. etc....
What am I missing?
All these HTML's are in DABASE.Column e.g. column "Contents"
e.g.
"& lt;p class=& quot;MsoNormal" style= "color: #339966;"><"
;" ;> ;< ;strong > ;&l
ot; > ;& ;nbsp; < ;/span >< ;/p >
I've put (spaces between & and gt above code otherwise it was not showing in stackoverflow.) The HTML sysntaxs are correct because it's created by an HTMLEDITOR.

I have a webform (for posting ads) that has an AJAX HTML Editor (for ad description) and AJAX fileupload control to upload & display some images. If I don't upload any images (no postback is done) then the html editor will display the international characters correctly and the ad is then stored correctly.
As soon as I upload an image for display (and postback is automatically done), then the html editor will replace all the international characters with unrecognized characters. And the ad will be stored with those incorrect characters.
Is there any way I can avoid this? I'm still not exactly sure why the html editor automatically replaces all my characters when postback is done.Or is there another html editor that manages this better?

Have a GridView with a templated select button hidden and using
e.Row.Attributes.Add("onclick",Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(this.grdMaster, "Select$" + e.Row.RowIndex.ToString())); to select a row .
When user like to update the datasource he will select one row from gridview then in selected indexchanged event i would display the selected row values beneath the form under the grid , Then user will update the contents displayed from grid and click an update button which is outside the grid . After updating the displayed row , i got to get the values of the next row in the grid and display them for next updation , i'e if users maually selects row 3 from grid then he can update the values using the update button and then on update click itself i'll have to display next row contents of row 4 and this process could go on .

I have Parent/Child Grid (also called Nested Grids).
Parent Grid (PG) :: PG has two template fields. 1st template field has "Category ID" and 2nd template has Child Grid
Child Grid (CG) :: CG is populated in PG's RowDataBund event based on "Category ID". In CG's DataBound event, I am doing something which I need to display in CG's footer row.
Problem :: In the footer row of each CG, I have to show the "Category ID" which is in PG' row. How can I get hold of the PG's row which hascurrent nested grid (there will 'n' child grids, one for each 'Category ID' in the PG ) so I can read the "Category ID"
I was thinking if I could do something (DataBound event of CG) like this..
string catId = ChildGrid.Parent[get the index of the current row in PG].Cells[0].Text;

I'm using ASP.NET/VB and am wanting to nest a grid inside of another grid. I've seen them but am unsure how to make them work. I have a Orders table with an OrderID and it is linked to a Orders_Detail table. I would like to be able to select the order and see the details. I've done it differently with 2 grids outside of each other, but this isn't the solution I need.
