View 1 RepliesI have a datalist that loops thru cart items. Within the datalist template I call a user control that has a small form that gets repeated for each item. When this control is called outside of the datalist, the form submits fine, but when called within the datalist the button has no event action. I've tried adding an event handler to ItemDataBound of the datalist, but still no event action. How can I get my form to submit?
View 8 RepliesI am using a dropdownlist in my application and it has corresponding SelectedIndexChanged() event.I would like to invoke GridViewEdit Event when SelectedIndexChanged event fires from dropdown list.Is it possible to implement this...??
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlStatus" Visible="true" AutoPostBack="true" OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddlStatus_SelectedIndexChanged" runat="server">

I'm with asp C#.net , how do we fire an on click event in Datalist

How can I do on click event in order to load images using an Id.?
I am facing one strange problem,I have a gridview in which the last two columns have checkboxes and on those checkboxes click event I am doing some database operations.I also have one checkbox that is outside the gridview which actually shows or hides some of the gidview columns.This was all working well but now I have shifted that grid to a user control because I have to use it in two pages.The problem now is,When the page first loads and I click the check box or any control in the page that is outside the grid then it works perfectly.But once I click any of the check box within grid view column then its behavior chages, now even if I click the checkbox that is outside the grid then also the checkbox_CheckedChanged event of the checkbox that is whithin gridview is fired.That checkbox event then behaves something like a page_load event that is called for every page load and for every event with in the page after it is called once.
View 3 RepliesI have an aspx page in which the code-behind is in VB.Net. I have a TextBox field on my page. In the code-behind, the only event that I have for this field is the TextChanged Event. However, whenever I enter data into the TextBox field, the event won't fire. What would prevent this from happening?
View 13 RepliesI have an asp.net page with a list box on it. Multiple event handlers subscribe to its OnSelectedIndexChanged event.
When I change the SelectedIndex programmatically none of the events get fired.
Now a hack for this is to call each event handler, but this has already caused bugs since people didn't know they had to do this when adding a new event handler.
I can do this in a Winforms app and even when SelectedIndex is changed in code the events fire.
I have a weborm where my aspx page has the structure

In my code, I create a drop down list and add it to panel p1
[Code]....
When I change the index of this drop down list, the post back happens, but MyDDL_IndexChanged is never called.
I have a treeview on the left panel and the gridview in the content page. Both the treeview and the gridview bind to the same datasource and have the same functionality. For instance, clicking employer in the treeview and clicking the employer link in the gridview take you to the same page. All I want is when I click the employer link in the gridview, I want the gridview row command event to call the selectednodechanged event of the treeview, so that the treenode for employer has the selected node style and performs the function of hte selectednodechanged. i have tried treeview.nodes[0].select but this does not fire the selectednodechanged event.
View 3 RepliesI have a panel which has a repeater within it. Within the repeater I have a few controls. One of those controls is a Drop Down list which has an OnSelectedIndexChanged event. I can get this to fire without issue but I cannot find my DropDownList control within that repeater within the SelectedIndexChanged event . The repeater has an OnItemDataBound event and I can use the RepeaterItemEventArgs to find the control using e.Item.FindControl("ControlName") without issue but when that event occurs is NOT when I need to find the DropDownList.
What I want to do is have another control's Visible property be set to "true" when the value of the DropDownList meets a certain value. As far as I know I can only do this during the SelectedIndexChanged event and I can't change the signature of the event by trying to use RepeaterItemEventArgs.
how do i fire the itemdatabound event for a repeater control which is nested inside a another repeater control
code is in vb.net
i have a grideview which their is a LinkButton control i want to wite some code in that event i i do that. I am providing the code for better understanding

Note: The answer marked as the answer, answers the questions in the Title. However, my underlying problem, using type ahead dropdowns, is solved by moving to IE8.
I have a drop down list that when I CLICK a NEW selection I want to cause a postback ("this.form.submit()") But only if the click on the dropdown list just changed the selection.
Note that OnChange will NOT work because when the selection is changed by the keyboard I would not want to postback because it is a type ahead dropdown list.
I also suppose I could use OnChange and check if the change was caused by the mouse.
Maybe if we can come up with both solutions and i'll see which works better?
EDIT: More information:
AutoPostback = true; will not work. (don't want it to post back when the selection is changed by the keyboard)
onBlur = doPostBack; I tried this, but the result is not optimal. The user has to click off the ddl after making a selection with the mouse.
Another way to state what I want to do, i think, is do a postback when both the OnChange and OnClick events fire at the same time.
I wanted to create a dropdownlist that would trigger an asynchronous postback and update the Gridview inside the Updatepanel. However, no matter what I do, when the dropdownlist changes, nothing in the UpdatePanel will change, even the TestLabel....I've been banging my head against the walls for days on this -- why won't this work? When I remove the UpdatePanel code and triggers, all the code works, eg, you change the dropdownlist andthen gridview updates -- but it refreshes the page and this is why I wanted to put the Gridview inside an Updatepanel to make it look cleaner.[Code]....
View 9 RepliesI am using datalist control on Default.aspx. In that datalist control I have ASP Link Button and the data is fetched from the Database while loading the control. Now, When my user clicks on that particular Link Button, the data associated with it should be shown on the next page. Which event shall I use? How do i select the values that I would show on the next page?

Here is my code through which i can generate dynamically 2 checkbox group Â
DataTable dt = new DataTable();
DataList1.DataSource = dt;
DataList1.DataBind();
DataList2.DataSource = dt;
DataList2.DataBind();
 Design Page Â
[code]....
 There is two checkbox group which have same datasource, so in both case same checkbox are showing and also same event is firing for both. Here is the event code Â
protected void CheckBox_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string OpService = ((CheckBox)sender).Text;
}
Â
Now what i want to do is, while check one checkbox from the 1st checkbox group the same checkbox should be selected from the second checkbox group automatically, also if i deselect one checkbox that should be deselect from both checkbox group.
I am creating a WebApp and got stuck on the "Save" process. I am gathering data from a SQL DB and using a DataReader to populate the DataList. The DataList hold employee data and there are quite a few. What is the best way to save the data to the database?
I had originally thought that once a Supervisor has verified the employee data, just click the "Update" button and save to the DB but how would I determine which fields in the DataList have been changed? I only want the changes saved.
use a Dataset to populate the DataList then build a second Dataset with the same structure and compare the two. Then save the changes to the DB. I had read before on the 4GuysFromRolla website that using Datasets in a web app wasn't the greatest ...
i am developing an application using ASP.NET with C#.net. in my application i have a gridview contains 3 fields.
1.description
2.unitprice
3.Regions
these three are template fields and last field i.e Regions is set to visible false.

[Code]....
when the grid is binded,i am not displaying the regions field as that is set to visible false.
when i click the edit button i.e in RowEditing event of grid i have to show the Region field.
for that i had wrriten the code as
gvoptProgramdetails.Columns[2].Visible = true;
when i run the application and when i click a perticular row of edit The region field is set to visible to all rows which are there in gridview.
my requirement is i have to show the region of perticular row in gridview which i have selected.
How do I check if a textbox in a formview has changed when I click "Update" (in Edit mode)? TIA. I use VS2008 and Framework 3.5.

On a page load, how do I check to see if data in a table has changed? And if any data has changed, populate Gridview1?
View 2 RepliesI have a check box in the grid.IF IsChecked has a value checkbox should be checked else not.Should i check the check box in the ItemDataBound event or will it get checked automatically.

I have a datalist in my page that has a LinkButton at the beginning of each row that, when clicked, fires the Itemcommand ("select"). There is no issue with this as it works as it should:
[Code]....
But I also thought it would be good if the user could simply click anywhere in the datalist to expand the item and show based on the SelectedItemTemplate. So, I thought, the cleanest would be to add a function in the code behind that adds a click event to the Panel "panItem" that clicks the above mentioned LinkButton like this (fires in Page_PreRender):
[Code]....
Here is where the problem comes in. This works great in IE but not FF3.6 (havent tested it with older version of FF). In FF, I get a JS error saying "dlMapDB_ctl00_btnItemFigNumber is not defined" for the first row, "...ctl01..." for the second row, etc. So the IDs are correct based on the markup (which makes sense since it works in IE).
I have a DataList in an UpdatePanel. I'm using a PopupControlExtender for the UpdatePanel. On the DataList I have an OnItemCommand wich doesn't fire and I cann't figure out why.

I have Gridview which allows user to edit record.I already build the event to save the new record, time and user machine information to a log database.However, this means a whole record is saved to the log... if the user just change one or two column/field out of say 20 fields, then there is a lot of waste. Also the change is not obvious.How can I log exactly which field(s) was changed in the record ?
