Jul 28, 2010I have a databound gridview with 3 columns. I enumerate through each row to get values and put into an array. I would like to make column1 NOT visible to the user. but when I set Visible="False", it no longer can retieve that columns value as it enumerates.
Is there a way I can make the first column invisible to the user but still retrieve the values of that column when enumerating?

I want to be able to show same data in detailsview. bound to Delivery table
using the following criteria:
1. check delivery table for address data, where email = usermembership Email address and populate Detailview. If no data present, copy Customer Invoice Address data across IF present, to Delivery Detailsview.
2. Insert record IF no Address found/Update IF record amended in Delivery detailsview(Only applicable to Delivery Detailsview)
I would prefare this to be accomplished in a Button_Click event instead of using Command buttons in bottom row of Detailsview.
This is because i am using a Multiview page that processes Customer Address data.

Mar 14, 2011I want to know how we can create a table (or a layout consisting of div's) and poulate it with data from the database. We do this generally using data controls like gridview, datalist etc. But i am restricted by these controls like there is no inbuilt paging with datalist and there is no repeat column in gridview. I just want complete control over the layout as well as the data that goes into it.
I dont know how to do this. Is there anyway of doing it without using the data controls.

Aug 14, 2010I'm not sure whether or not this is the correct forum...I have been asked to develop a webpage with a very simple table. 10 columns, 10 rows. Each cell will have a dropdownlist. Several people will have this page up at any given time and they will all make changes as needed. I am planning on using a SQL Server
2008 database to keep track of the entries.I need the page to verify the data it contains against the data in the database every 5 seconds or so. If they are different, either the page can refresh or (if possible) the dropdownlist can just change to the correct value.

Oct 24, 2010I have a scenario where I will be showing a Customer data in a GridView. I have a Dictionary collection like this IDictionary<Customer, IList<CustomerOrder>>.
First Question Can I bind this dictionary to the ASP.Net GridView?
Now next question, I want to show following kind of UI i.e. Show multiple CustomerOrders in one row of Customer.

Feb 26, 2010I've been reading and trying to figure out a way for half a day yesterday, and any solutions seems to fit to this.My solution is building up xml files from different folders on another server.After the xml is built up, I can run a "File Mapping" which will grab the appropriate information from the a specific xml selected with a dropdown and pass it to the asp:repeater.The binding is done on load, reading all the xml elements and passing it to a collection of object that will be bound to the repeater ( results.DataSource = listOfObjects; results.DataBind(); )
Now here is the problem. In each row of the table there is columns containing static informations and the last cell of the row is an img button that represent a gray checkmark and that on click should change to green. However, onclick now I only change the data to the xml, and on next "File map" it'll be there. I cannot simply refresh the page, because it takes a fairly long amount of time to refresh because most of the times there is over 350 records to load and above that, you cannot simply refresh page because
the page is call through ajax and a refresh will bring you back to the default.aspx.
I've already built a function to get the param back through jQuery, however I really have no clue how to bind it to the image.Current line with image:

C# - Populate A Gridview With Table Data From Sql?
Sep 9, 2010I want to populate a gridview with table data from SQL. I tried just returning my SqlDataReader object and using it as my datasource, but I am getting errors that the reader has been closed. I wanted to convert this to a DataSet and just return a dataset, but I couldn't find an easy way to convert the row data to a dataset. I've also read that DataSets are dead in .NET 3.5/4.0, is this true? Here's my Data Layer method. It would be awesome if I could return something useable as a datasource:

Oct 29, 2010I have two tables, Users and Roles. The roles table is a reference table for the different roles of my site (RoleId and RoleName columns). The Users table contains profile data for each user, including a RoleId column that is FK'd back to the Roles table [RoleId].
Both tables are in a Linq to SQL model.
I have an edit page created which lists all the profile values of a user. The edit page inherits the User model. One of the editable values is the RoleId field. I want to set this up to be a drop-down list that contains items labeled using the RoleName column of the Roles table, and matched with values of RoleId.
